Desu sex homo revolution is not bad game at all, but it's nowhere near as good as original dude sex. It's still pretty good. It still has pretty good feel and Jensen has cool voice to jerk off to. Also pirate everything so you get it for free and you get those DLC's. I don't remember was directors cut better than normal one, google some shit for that.

Try and actually replay MD because it sure as hell is better than IW and is a more fleshed out HR.
I too was pissed at release when the credit rolled out of nowhere but it's nowhere as bad as people make it out to be now that the dust has settled.
It improves on HR on every single point but story.
I'm currently going through my NG+ run years after finishing the game since I grabbed the 2 DLC missions for 5$.
And I discovered a lot of secret shit I missed since I didn't use the smart vision much in my original run.

JCs response really illustrates why he's such a good character. any spy with half a brain wouldn't dress like that because it's the most cliche outfit imaginable and yet JCs never been in public for his entire life. he's been in some spy facility, he has no social experience whatsoever so he acts like an actual robot. It's brilliant writing

The game is too slapdash and poorly made for my liking. The Devs even admit in game that different groups of developers just thought of areas separately from each other and then poorly stitched them together.
I spent most of my time exploring Prague at the start of the game and found tons of places that were main mission areas before I was supposed to get there.
The Underground Casino and the Bank being the main two I remember.
While I was there I killed everybody.
When the mission appears to go to the underground casino to obtain some item I had to go all the way back there even though I've already been; why wouldn't it just let me pick up it up the first time and just auto complete the mission?
Then when I had to go back to the bank everybody had just respawned so I had to do everything all over again.
Then when Prague is under lockdown I go all the way back to Jensens apartment to see if Sarif has any new clues over the mysterious shit that happened to Jensen before the game starts; and nothing.
Then I had to crawl across the whole of town to start the next mission at the underground base for Sarif to call and say "Come here Jensen I have news"; so I crawl all the way back across town to see what's up and Sarif just says "lol I dunno".

The game actively encourages you to explore shit with one hand and then bitchslaps you for doing it with the other.
Not even mentioning the shitty sudden end and that mech city you have to go to where the only interesting conversation boss happens that means nothing instantly afterwards since he just blows up

Dishonored and its DLC and sequel is worth playing, made by some of the original devs though. Though the gameplay is largely different so you shouldn't go in expecting DX.

Give the classic Thief games a try, developed with the same design philosophies as DX, minus the RPG elements.
