Right, because dodging and parrying was never a critical part of Dark Souls/Bloodborne.

Dodging was. Parrying wasn't. Sekiro not having dodging and focusing on parrying as the main method of defense (and a key part in dealing damage to enemies) sets the combat apart at a fundamental level.

I watched the demo and didn’t see anything impressive. RE2 and DMC’s demos made me buy the games right away. This however was just okay I guess. I didn’t get to play it myself obviously but still

Bloodborne is still hugely focused around dodging. While parrying is much more present than in Souls, it doesn't work on every enemy, and isn't the primary defense method regardless.

I've played every Souls game and never bothered parrying once. It's completely optional. That's something that actually bugs me about Sekiro though, given I don't like super finicky frame-specific horseshit like parry mechanics, I'll probably be passing it up.

I just hope it's something different. Souls has been a game series about pressing the circle button at the right time for a long time now, and I could do with something else for once.

desu both of From's teams are kind of shit, the only reason Bloodborne is so good is because Japan Studio handled a lot of the development.
