spartans are expensive as fuck, each one costs as much as a capital ship. there's no world where it's cost effective enough to mass produce spartans like that. sure there might be an honor guard like class of human spartans but the majority of them would be ODST-esque soldiers in support roles or inside vehicles.

You do realize the Covenant is basically what happened in Europe leading up to the Crusades, right? Shit ton of different cultures and lifestyles merged under one for a Holy War. Not that hard of a concept to grasp, especially considering how brutal the Covenant was in punishing all the different species for clinging to their old ways. I think it's more believable with how it is because there's no way the Covenant could've accomplished shit if they were radically different like they used to be culturally. It's still there, though, and the games do a pretty decent job of reflecting it ingame to a degree. Elites are autistic about honor in the story, Grunts are beaten down and cowardly, Brutes are brutes, Hunters are assholes and don't care about the lesser species, etc.

Arguably, it's mostly the Spartan-IV designs which are the problem. The Spartan-II armors (for Blue Team) are pretty okay.

i mean, the marines in halo arent lacking tech wise theyre just meant to be very versatile and multi-purpose, but the still feel decently protected because their armor still looks pretty hefty where it counts. (chest, helmet, legs and shoulder). same goes for the marines in 2, since they were pretty the same but with a graphics upgrade in 3.

yeah, that makes sense. army would be best at holding defensive positions, so it makes sense why theyre used so heavily on reach. marines would be for making counter pushes against the covenant and taking objectives.

During the time of the Fall of Reach the UNSC army uses the Reach BDU's while the marines used the h3/h2a BDU's. In post war the marines used the shitty 343 designs, while the army still used the older design

it's so jarring. optics would work better as a sidemount or with dust covers. seems bad to have a large chunk of it open in favor of a sight. or not at all

So? They ultimately look closer to the trilogy's Sangheili design than Reach did. The crime is just that they all use the same exact model with no variation, so Thel looks like a regular mook with the exception of his armor.

That's because the armor conceals the ugly design. The base model for the 4 Sangheili are awful, with numerous bulbous proportions. Also, go down to show their feet. :)

If they fixed their posture, actually showed at least some of them using Covenant-style armor, and didn't use it for Thel, it would have been completely fine.

H2A, easily. They were perfect. Reach elites looked too different and had TRON armor and goofy baloony proportions. And mix in a little CE for good measure.

Officer is the only salvagable one, but you can't say the same about Zealot, Field Marshal & General

at least Ranger, Ultra & Spec - Ops look decent and something that would be used by original trilogy elites

In halo 3 duel smgs or really anything else duel wielded is better, in reach I prefer the dmr, and I barely played 4 but it felt like it wasn’t very good

i got this game on launch for my birthday and i really liked it up until the final mission bugged. everyone but the spartans died and they were stuck targeting something underground and were walking incredibly slowly. mission ended up taking ~45 minutes. rtas was hot though

the marines had places to store ammo in 3, most of them have chest pouches and all of them have pouches around their waist.

Extra mags and nades are kept on the armor same way his weapons are: magnetically. Just stick it down on the proper area and it's locked tight.

The prophets knew the true purpose of the Halo, and that humans were (originally intended to be storywise) descendants or offshoots of the Forerunner.

Hence the dying prophet saying, "this time none of you will be left behind"

I think Truth knew of the Ark being a halo-safe zone and intended to go there to wipe out the galaxy then repopulate it in his image with only blindly obedient species like Brutes guarding them, instead of the too smart for their own good Elites, hence the betrayal.

There are still some plot holes like why Tartarus was sent to Delta Halo and almost blew his load too early there, but that can probably be explained away by the fact H2 story was cut short.

tartarus might have been sent there to kill off high charity and other covenant planets nearby, whereas truth would be out of range at the ark.

Possibly, or that the keyship itself was immune to halo, or that storywise it was intended to be much faster moving of a ship instead of "so slow that Keyes and Johnson beat it to Earth" which makes no sense for a Forerunner ship

It's not like his whole body is magnetic, there's just areas he can use to carry ammo and guns if he wants to. It's like the energy shields, they have to be turned down on his feet and hands or else he'll slide around and won't be able to pull any weapon trigger
