Hey Yea Forums! For those who didn't see my thread yesterday, I've been developing a mod for Oblivion (TES4) that introduces an NPC to the game that spreads and kills or corrupts all other NPCs in the game. I did a test run yesterday, and while the NPC successfully conquered every major city, there is still much to do with the concept. Unfortunately, I will not be able to host another stream today, but I would like to see if any anons have any creative ideas to introduce to the tests before I host the next run sometime soon. Firstly, allow me to explain the precise details of what the virus NPCs did during the first run:
- The NPCs have level 50 in all skills but have only level 1 primary stats (so, only 70 health). - They have only three spells (four if you count the Breton racial spell): Restore Minor Wounds, Infect (a touch spell that replaces any NPC it touches with a clone) and Mitosis (a daily power that lets a clone on low health kill itself, but spawn two fully healed clones in the process). - Clones are hostile to nearly every entity in the game, except the player and creatures (excluding deer, who they hate). - Clones have two main types of AI packages: they wander around and talk to each other every Wednesday at 12 noon, and at every Sunday at midnight they pick a random city and run to it in order to spread.
Those were the things that dictated the last run. By the end of it, they'd successfully spread to all cities. In the future, however, these are the changes I'd like to make:
- Adding another identical (except for in appearance) but opposing virus NPC to the game. - Adding NPCs that specialize in fighting the virus
Do any anons have any creative ideas to add? I'd appreciate any input, and I'd be happy to answer any questions about the experiment here.
I need to develop AI Packages that allow the viral NPCs (I'll just refer to them as clones) to comb the forest in a random search pattern. Otherwise there will always be places safe from the infection, which obviously isn't quite what we want. Unfortunately, I'm not yet entirely sure how to do this.
It looks like you build that mod on that corrupted clone story you made

How does the virus start in-game? Do you have to spawn the guy on console or can you start the outbreak thru gameplay, like releasing them from a cage or something?
Also like said, an animal with properties to fight it would be nice. Now that you mentioned that they hate deer it would be a nice contender.

>it's a Nickies thread a light in the darkness at last
Yea, that's where I originally got the idea. For those who weren't at the thread yesterday, here it is, although after a point it's mostly just bumps as most of the anons were watching the stream: Yesterday I spawned in the first NPC with the console, although adding some way to start it in gameplay would be relatively easy and simple to do.
One type of animal that hates them would indeed be interesting, I'll add that to the next run as well.
Holy shit I thought you had died or something. Oh, and >they wander around and talk to each other every Wednesday at 12 noon, and at every Sunday at midnight they pick a random city and run to it in order to spread What do they do the other days? Do they just stand motionless in a corner or patrol around?

As of right now, when they're not acting on either of the two existing packages they stand motionless unless they spot something they're hostile to (or something spots them and attacks).
