If you want some actually western robots, you have to take a look at stuff like Big Guy & Rusty, as well as Iron Giant.
Unfortunately those are the only examples I can think of, as Giant Robots are uniquely a Japanese thing. The west has a few, but none get the focus Japanese ones get.

Titanfall and Lost Planet are my favorite mech designs within games. Both series were niche at best and commercial failures at worst. With any luck Apex Legends means more success for Titanfall in the future but its really difficult to say. But Lost Planet 4 just seems really unlikely in my mind sadly

The Gundam even jumping was a huge shock early on, and from there the robots were definitely affected by gravity. This did go out the window once mecha flight became commonplace, though.

The AC Gundam shows definitely have no sense of physics, and this was definitely true in Wing, which everyone is familiar with, alongside G and SEED. You can tell Tomino is working on a Gundam show just by how grounded it is, like Turn A.

When people say realistic they mean believable. And people definitely compare magic systems between each other. Harry Potter has basically no explaination of magic, it's just something people can do; that's better than the generic isekai elements & MP shit, but inferior to something like Mahouka where magic is very technical and spells are basically programs written by magicians. Then there's raildex where there's no rules and sufficiently advanced magic is science.

It ended up a huge clusterfuck with nobody knowing who had the actual rights to anything. btw, if you trace their lineage, Jap mechs originally come from American mech designs. early Jap mechs like Tetsujin/Gigantor channel 50's/60's American mechs, Day the Earth Stood Still kind of stuff
then Mazinger, the first piloted robot, fucks around with square cube law by being way larger than physically possible
Getter Robo was designed literally TO be impossible, it's three planes that smash together and make a robot, combiners and transformers are always unrealistic as fuck
Gundam was pretty much just a regular monster of the week action show with a robot that looked like a person. It jumps, it flips, it gets into hand to hand combat, it has a laser sword and a fucking giant flail (the Gundam Hammer)
