Splatoon 2 is still so popular and active even two years after release. I wouldn't be surprised if they injected this very cute, often funny game with another expansion. They have such a big and loyal playerbase, it would be foolish of them to let it go to waste.

When we're getting closer to the preliminary date for the end of Splatfests, I wouldn't be surprised if we'd get an announcement of further support with more Splatfests. Coupled with the reveal of a new expansion.

I kind of doubt they'll announce a Splatoon 3 for the Switch instead of making Splatoon 3 for the Switch's successor. But I also doubt they'd leave Splatoon unattended until then.
No way they'll just stop with the Splatfests and leave Splatoon 2 without support until we get Splatoon 3 on the next system. No way.
Splatoon is a mega hit and I am sure Nintendo are hungry to invest in it.
It's probably getting both another expansion, and spin-off of some kind.
