NONE.
Based on Samus Returns and ALBW we would get cheap awful 3D instead of 2D.
Can't think of any
Is someone actually making a fan remake of Super?
That doesn't look too bad actually, though maybe a little pointless
Definitely not Super Metroid.
Balloon Fight.
>Relatively small arena
>3v3 or 6ffa
>Use items to shoot and maneuver on the sky
>Swerve, chase and pop ballons in tight dogfights
>Earn different balloons, colors and cosmetics to express who is the king of the skies
>Seasonal updates with changes in weather that affect fights and maybe implement new modes
It will never happen
Breath of Fire 1.
Left: Soul
RIght: Soulful.
honestly that background and the lack of contrast kills the atmosphere and makes ridley impossible to appear there
if only. its the only bof i liked but the dialog was turd
Early 3D games and nothing else.
A crying shame, many games don't need a remake, some others that do get a remaster, not a remake, and some others that get a remake, fuck it up. I can't think of many good remakes.
Games that were noticeably held back by the hardware of the time. Zero Mission is a good remake because NES Metroid is garbage. Remaking Super would be a waste.
kys
Red Alert in a modern engine, but still being top-down fixed camera and with virtually identical gameplay. Also not made by EA.
I hope you're not implying Super needs a remake, OP.
Not Super Metroid, that's for sure.
SMRPG
>dude let's inject ZM's art style into everything lmao
why do the artlets always try to make remakes
Shining Force 2
FireRed/LeafGreen? HeartGold/SoulSilver?
Pretty much this, and only pre 1996 games
Maybe those and REmake. But yeah, still not many.
>every UE/Unity remake
Good Remakes:
-Secret of Mana was good
-Spyro was good
-Crash was good
-AM2R was good
-Ratchet sucked
dungeon master please! imagine it with realistic lighting and much scarier looking monsters
Final Fantasy 6. but i wouldn't trust squeenix with it
it's sad that the people with the means to do remakes have no aesthetic vision at all
look at this. ZM simplistic backgrounds mixed with more detailed floor tiles, an awful engraved HUD, SR suit design for some fucking reason and to top it off everything's run through a fucking hideous bilinear filter
Fusion is the one that needs a remake & someone is doing a good job of it, it's called X Fusion
Whoever is remaking this should just help on that project instead of remaking something that's near perfect
fpbp
This.
I love me some X-Fusion.
Remaking things is easier than coming up with your own idea.
Teleroboxer and Wario World. Both would be right at home on the 3DS with full color and both are truly fantastic games, only problem is they're shackled to fucking Virtual Boy.
I was thinking the other day just how fucking crazy what squeenix are doing with FF7 is. People gave toys for bobs truckloads of shit for changing the colour of the fucking sky in Spyro, and yet here's the FF7 remake fucking up everything from the design to the gameplay and everyone just sort of has to accept it.
I'm so sick of remakes when you could just make sequels. Like I'm paying full price for plastic Link's awakening.
>AM2R is a remake of Metroid II that uses a custom recreation of Fusion's engine
>X-Fusion is a remake of Fusion that just straight up uses Super's engine
It's like pottery.
They can fix it
>but user dk64 is literally perfect and my favorite game ever and fuck you don't criticize it
It can be so much better
>here's the FF7 remake fucking up everything from the design to the gameplay and everyone just sort of has to accept it
people love it
for some reason everyone loves the ARPG-lite combat
desu the aesthetic changes don't seem that bad but we've yet to see 90% of the game sooo
>but i wouldn't trust squeenix with it
This
DK64 is a great game but anyone who says it's perfect is delusional. There are lots of little problems with it, including a game breaking bug that Rare couldn't even fix so they just had it require the ram expansion to delay the bug from even happening in a reasonal time frame.
Those, REmake, Zero Mission, most if not all Dragon Quest remakes.
Soulsoulless
This, games don't need fucking remakes or remasters, maybe a rerelease on modern systems, just make a new game.
Did it need a remake?
I'd rather have a complete overhaul than a graphics only revamp like Spyro. Zero Mission used this approach and it worked excellently because it gave us a design new philosophy for the same game making both worth playing. With a Spyro or Crash remake the best case scenario is that it's merely as good and the worst case is that it loses the soul of the game.
I considered this but I think just making a completely new game in the same style would be better with the amount of changes you would need to make
The REmake for Resident Evil 1 is superior in every single way to the original.
as long as they don't make a 2D game into a 2.5D/3D game.
that one jack frost game also really needs to get the fuck out of the virtual boy
Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Ocarina of Time 3D, and Majora's Mask 3D are not remakes.
All four of them are remasters. Or enhanced ports. The two terms are basically interchangeable now.
Fuck off, Metroid series needs a Metroid 5.
wolf 3d and spear of destiny to id tech 3
What's this?
Why does every Zelda game get a remake?
Not a desperate need, but I think Dragon Quest 1 would make a fantastic action game
Zero Mission was a mistake and R&D-1 should have went post-Fusion right away.
LoZ/AoL/Oracle haven't been remade yet. Nintendo should have remade LoZ instead of ALttP for GBA
If you're that much of a zoomer some NES emulators have a sprite swap option
FF5
It's so fucking weak aesthetically and all your screenshots are blurry
Fusion is the real mistake because it led to Other M.
>multiple SA-Xs
LoZ will never be remade. It was the inspiration for BotW, so they would find it redundant, just like a new FZero because they cant think of anything to improve from GX
>Castlevania: The Adventure
>FF 1-4
>Kirby Super Star
>Pikmin
>Animal Crossing
>Kirby's Adventure
>Tales of Phantasia
>Mortal Kombat III
>Phantasy Star
>Metal Gear Solid 1-3
>Game & Watch series
>multiple DQ entries
Some examples of games being made better with later rereleases/remakes.
Zero Mission is the 4th best Metroid game, it was not a mistake.
Dread failing was a mistake. Literally everything would have been fine if Dread didn't enter development hell.
any game from the 5th generation that didn't utilize sprites
Good job making the enemies almost impossible to see.
No Zelda games have been remade yet. Link's Awakening is the first.
LoZ only has some weird one on SNES
Zelda 2 and ALTTP had nothing (ALBW is a new game, like it or not)
OOT/MM are more like remasters with improved graphics
WW/TP are also remasters, TP doesn't even get anything but higher texture resolution and some extra dlc
I would say Link's Awakening is an actual remake, but that's pretty much it
Get out semantics nigger
Go bitch at the artist, I didn't make it and I don't use it.
only games that deserves a remake are those one that are shit and need another opportunity to shine
>Link's Awakening DX
What exactly is the difference between a remake and a remaster?
Somebody didn't skip leg day.
A remake is from the ground up while a remaster is usually just a visual upgrade, maybe with some QoL improvements still using the original assets/code
TRANS RIGHTS
MONKEY PAW:
Balloon Fight: Battle Royale
>enhanced port
A remake is just that. A remake. The game is redone completely from the ground up. Link's Awakening is like this, Samus Returns is like this, Spyro is like this.
A remaster takes the existing game and updates textures and models, sometimes adding some new features, but the underlying code is still the same as the original. The Super Mario All-Stars games are like this, Wind Waker HD is like this, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection games are like this.
My childhood
>MONKEY PAW
Joust and Balloon Fight can only be expanded upon.
Okay OP, what's this gay fan remake called?
FF7
Remake: Technically mostly different, same story / similar music
Remaster: Technically the same, graphically "up to current standards"
Ys: Oath in Felghana is a remake of Ys III. Nearly everything changed except for the characters, the story, the music and a few concepts.
OOT 3DS is a remaster of OOT. The only differences between both are the graphics style and some little extras like sheikah stones (and if I'm not mistaken, a boss rush mode). Everything else remains nearly the same, down to even glitches.
Metroid Zero Mission needs a remake.
Links awakening dx
Ocarina of time 3D
Majoras mask 3D
Wind waker HD
A link between worlds (basically a remake of ALTTP)
Um Jammer Lammy
You listed one remake and one game that is factually not the same game at all and you obviously haven't even tried.
>semantics
This isn't semantics, it's fact.
Semantics would be arguing whether or not BS-X Zelda 1 would be considered a remake or a new game. It has a lot in common with A Link Between Worlds, which is a new game.
>Enhanced Port
>Remaster
>Remaster
>Remaster
>Brand new game (I guess Super Metroid is "basically a remake" of Metroid with that logic)
BS-X Zelda 1 is a demake
I own WW on GC but never completed it.
Should I break that out and beat it or buy the Wii U one? Is it worth the money?
Literally exactly the same over world, items, dungeons, enemies, and music.
Can we conclude then that the last of us remastered on ps4 is a remake?
Maybe the definitive edition of tomb raider where lara looks different?
Oh and that remake of MGS3 for the 3DS? Yeah, what a remake.
ZM is good, but comparing it to the original game is silly since it's not trying to be NES Metroid.
>I own WW on GC
then just play that
I like the added detail in the background, I'd love to replay Super with better/new/more detailed backgrounds, but holy crap the original sprites look better. Just use those. Blurriness isn't a good aesthetic for an SNES game remake.
>I need to make it obvious that I haven't played the game
Ok calm down
I’ve heard some say HD is worth buying. But is it?
I don’t mind the graphics. Is there anything else to it?
Skyrim
Higher framerate if I'm not mistaken, widescreen support, higher resolution, they did a different thing with the triforce hunt and you get to sail real fast. That's it.
I'd rather just see a full recreation of SM in that new engine someone built for it, shit was awesome.
I have played and beaten both, that’s how I fucking know. ALBW is the video game equivalent of a soft reboot.
Ocarina and Majora's 3D are literally complete remakes though, it isn't dependent on whether they have more or different content, just whether it's a ported and upscaled engine or actually remade to act like an old game
Remake in a lot of games means the company lost the source code so they have to make everything again from memory with better graphics and more intuitive controls to mixed results, a remaster is the original game but optimized for HD era hardware, some games make the line more blurry like the Taxman versions of Sonic games since it's all an original implementation of the gameplay but it's a remaster because it tries to be as close as it can get to the old game.
It's kinda funny how you metroidfags are loud and obnoxious yet metroid games don't sell.
Remaster is a zoomer term. In my day everything was either a port (hardware was similar or worse) or a remake.
I know that. It actually is ported. There's a whole bunch of old shit from the N64 development period that wouldn't be there if were a remake, this includes references to the 64DD in Ocarina and leftover level geometry from a cut cavern in Majora.
You can find it all on TCRF.
Thanks. I’ll stick to my old one, then.
>In my day everything was either a port (hardware was similar or worse) or a remake
>In my day
2010, I guess?
I'm not buying your remaster because you call it a remake, faggot
It kinda sells though? It will never pull Zelda numbers but many other Nintendo franchises do much worse
In my day there were like 2 or 3 remakes out there, and ports were usually more different between platforms than what a remaster nowadays is. There's an important distinction and if you can't see it then you get easily swayed.
graphics redone from the ground up=remakes
original graphics simply improved=remaster
3ds games are remakes, tp is a remaster, ww I dunno.
ww is shit
The numbers are embarrassing. It's no wonder Nintendo don't wanna get close to this series.
The only two statements you got right are the overworld and the music. There's different items, different dungeons (maybe they share a theme or two) and different enemies. You're essentially saying that Oracle of ages / seasons are remakes of LA without any technical improvements. It's a game done in the same style and paying homage to ALTTP, that is it.
>(I guess Super Metroid is "basically a remake" of Metroid with that logic)
I've actually seen arguments over this, similar to the whole Evil Dead/Evil Dead II situation.
Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of Yakuza 0, I mean it has the same map of kamurocho and same styles, obviously a remake
>Nintendo 2D games will never look better than GBA era ones
The pseudo 3D sprites from Mario and Luigi doesn't cut it, I hate it because I know they can make great looking stuff, fuck 3DS for killing their cool pixel art.
Super, prime 1 and 3 have great production and those numbers make up for the cost, in Japan having over 1mil is actually pretty successful, you have been brainwashed by EA and Ubisoft if you think something needs 15 million sales to deserve continuity.
dumbass anime poster with no argument? how surprising
The original and HD versions both have their merits, but they're different enough that I'm not sure what I would call definitive. Twilight Princess HD is definitely the better of those two, though.
>those numbers make up for the cost
Typical toddler mind. Devs don't wanna "make up for the cost", they want a huge profit margin. That's their motor.
>you think something needs 15 million sales to deserve continuity
Get with the times. GTA 5 is at 90 milion sales.
>Super, prime 1 and 3 have great production and those numbers make up for the cost
They really don't.
Not a one of them, there isn't a single large publisher I trust for even a second with any of their classic/legacy IPs. The times, culture, and teams that made those games and series are all gone.
>Get with the times. GTA 5 is at 90 milion sales.
And? No japanese publisher ever expects their game to sell dozens of millions of copies.
You crack me up. Okay, I'll indulge you.
It's about a lot fucking more than the graphics, you colossal retard.
A port can have a complete graphical facelift and still be a port. It's a port because the underlying engine is still the same. Think Super Mario All-Stars. Each of the four games in that collection are ports.
>in Japan having over 1mil is actually pretty successful
for f-zero gx, which nintendo wasn't expecting
not for metroid
Super Mario Allstars is a remaster(s).
>Each of the four games in that collection are ports
SMB and Japan SMB2/Lost Levels have completely different physics.
JUST
I think that was a fuck up in the porting process since the mod that fixes Mario going through the blocks changes like 2 numbers in the hex editor.
Remaster is a fancier term for port. Now we're getting into semantics.
They're not completely different, there's just a bug that causes a different reaction when hitting brick blocks. even if it were intentional, ports aren't always 1:1. Often times little changes are made here and there. Quality of life changes, bug fixes, etc. That doesn't suddenly make them a remake. That's when the term Enhanced Port comes into play, whether the changes are considered to be an enhancement or not.
BASED
That's actually a bug resulting from some numbers being off.
Tomb Raider 2
The first two games are the only amazing ones in the series and the first one already got a decent remake. 20 years have passed, don't see why they haven't done it yet.
Most games that could use a remake need QoL changes, although I'm personally pretty tired of remakes.
>Castlevania 3
>Zelda 2, but they'd butcher it.
>The 3 DKC games could use an HD remake with the same assets at higher res, but they probably don't even have them anymore.
>DK64
>Minish Cap remade in a 3D Zelda style.
>Fire Emblem 4/5, and 6/7 paired
>Remakes of Final Fantasy 4 and 6 in the concept art style/hd non-chibi 3D
Simon's Quest would only improve from a remake.
It doesn't need one anymore. Midnight Castle Succubus is all anyone needs now.
>doesn't know whether it wants to be like the NES trilogy or Symphony onward so it's at a mediocre middleground
>but porn
First, lets be clear. A remake should not change a game in a significant way. If the game was 2D, it should still be 2D. A remake should just bring the old style of the game into modern graphics. For example, FFIX being made to look realistic instead of "artistic" is not what the graphics should be used for. Also, the second point of a remake should be to add bonus content along with ONLY fixing things that most fans agree was a problem with the game. If it is something that casuals didn't like, fuck them. It doesn't need to be changed.
Now we got that settled, LoD and LoL Legends of Legaia you colossal faggot... are two games that could really use a remake. I think LoD could stand to use actual world map traversal instead of walking on a predefined path. Of course to make sure it fits the original, that world map traversal might still need to be fairly linear.
because nu lara aka notUncharted is(was?) the hot shit
now that they're done with the tomb raider tm trilogy I hope the next installments can go back closer to the roots
This one makes me so mad. They fucked that game up so bad.
this was the first remake to disappoint me
You know, Super Metroid is one of those games that don't *need* a remake. Anyone can enjoy them as they are right now.
Maybe Silent Hill 1? Fatal Frame series needs some love too.
>-Secret of Mana was good
I didn't play it because of the art style. Also the fighting in the first videos of it just looked hollow as all fuck. Did it really turn out fine, or was your desire for a remake just blinding you from how it turned out?
>-Spyro was good
Need to get this one at some point.
This looks like trash. A disservice to the original.
The background is pitch black there for a reason, not just as a design limitation. Having an actual background removes the effect of Ridley fading in with just the eye first then his whole body revealing he was there the whole time holding the metroid. You need to add some heavy fog or something or else it's just missing the whole point of the original scene.
>Remaster is a fancier term for port
No, a port just means putting a game on a different system without any significant changes to the game. A remaster is a technical improvement over the original. Like listening to wav instead of mp3. Using 1080p resolutions instead of 720p. So on and so forth. If you aren't going to be technical, why use ANY term. Just fucking call everything a port like an idiot.
>Technically mostly different
One thing to note is a remake doesn't change anything in a significant way though. Changing major plot points, changing genres, and so on would be along the lines of a reboot.
So by yor "definition" is RE2 a good or bad remake.
Don't know enough about it to chime in. Did it needlessly change the story in a major way? Did it switch genres, instead of just removing past hardware limitations on how it was played? Also, I'm not saying something needs to be 1:1. It can still leave you with surprises and having to relearn how to play the game while not being a "significant" change. FFVII "Remake" is a significant change for example.
>Maybe Silent Hill 1?
Fuck no, It's perfect as is. Just play on an emulator to remove the jiggling polygons cased by the PS1's shitty hardware.
This. He's not a fucking chameleon. It's dark and the scene is supposed to show that.
Tank controls and pre-rendered backgrounds weren't there because of limitations.
You niggers need to learn the difference between a remake and a remaster.
We have the VR technology now.
Hell, even waggle controls would be enough.
Enemy Territory
0
specially metroid.
>tfw there will NEVER EVER, EVER, EVER be another proper dungeon crawler like Arx Fatalis
FUCK!
WHY?
It's elder scrolls but with gameplay that's actually fun! Why are they not making another one?
WHY ARE THEY NOT MAKING ANOTHER ONE user!?
...
Vagrant Story. That game does a lot of shit but limitations on the PS1 likely forced some bad stuff like needing to save when interacting with a storage chest, inventory limitations, no quick way to change equipment. The map system is garbage, and some of the camera angles are really bad
Then why remake it at all when you they could have made another original game?
only if that chick is made barefoot
A million and a half copies isn't bad, it's just not huge.
just go back 10 years and play the flash game
tetris
If any games needs a remake it's certainly not Super Metroid.
Though I wouldn't mind if it looked like this.
>dialog was turd
Isn't there at least 1 fanstranslation out there?
Because it's already original? It's just considered a remake in a conceptual way because it retells the story of NES Metroid unlike Fusion which is the last chapter, I think Super Castlevania IV did the same.
Easily solved by making the lights go on along with Ridleys entry.
It's all about execution though it's another thing when the creators don't have a clue what the intentions of the original creators were.
>ignoring final fantasy 5
Why are you like this user?
Name?
Not him but the SD style of 5 just fits the game right, maybe something that looked more like IX would fit for a 3D remake.
I guess but in a perfect world we wouldn't get 3D remakes we'd just get versions of 5 and 6 in the FF4 PSP artstyle
I miss when remasters/remakes were a rare treat rather than making up half the market
Actual game that needs a remake coming through. This game unironically had the framework to be a fantastic game but got completely shafted.
>I miss when remasters/remakes were a rare treat
so never? even DOS games got a shitload of remakes
Looks better than am2r at least
you're naive to think the amount of remakes was ever as saturated as it is now
Body Harvest
Blame western publishers for not pushing out more new franchises since the japs don't do it nearly as much
