isn't it obvious? clay animation takes actual effort, and neverhood would be too complex for the current day

Sorry for the late response, but:
It takes a good lot of time to make these types of games.
The game was unfinished, but you can see a lot of potential. I wish they had more time, but I love the surrealistic aesthetics and actually decent humor.

Neverhood, Skullmonkeys and Armikrog were done using traditional clay animation where everything was physically handbuilt and captured frame by frame, as opposed to just slapping shit together with Blender and Unity. It took time and money and obviously had some scope limits.
