Lewd Project Effect on Employability

I have the option of taking a job as a 3d character artist for a project that has a lot in common with Senran Kagura. Even though this isn't exactly my dream job, I'm currently just trying to break into doing 3d art and I don't want to have to take some other unskilled job while I'm trying to get more mileage making art.

Will I end up regretting taking this job in-terms of its effect for future job applications? It seems like no one would deny me a job as long as my deliverables are high quality and that I show my concept iteration process with my art director. I'm sure there's a way I can present my work in a non-cringey way to future employers in a portfolio outside of the game project.

Shameless self-bump.

You wouldn't want to work for someone who would have a serious problem with that anyway

it's not like you didn't sculpt a penis while learning zBrush anyway

Take it.
Working in the lewd industry will at least teach you the basis about female anatomy, something the west is literally forgetting over time.

Take it, time is precious and blue collar jobs is just a waste of time unless is the field youre pursuing.

this.

I seriously doubt your job prospects are going to be harmed. They're going to care more about your skill and quality rather than if its lewd or not.

In the media creation industry, you take whatever you can get. Work is work, and experience is experience.

This. It's a job. If someone has a problem just say "Guess I should have not eaten for a few months while I looked for a different position". As long as it isn't illegal it's fine. You can also hide it in the resume by saying just the company or something.

>shitrans

not with miyabi you twat.

Go for it user, it can only help you. I'm having my third interview with a company today so don't pass that shit up.

Just list your job title and the company.

If anyone asks, give a technical description of the job without mentioning that you used all your 3D modeling skill for titty physics.

You lucky son of a bitch

you're in luck, OP. no one gives a shit about the people who do 3D work. even SJW friendly companies will hire you and never mention you

just do it. the kinds of people that would deride you and try to hurt your future career opportunities for taking it would find something else to defame you with anyway, it's all they're good at. If you really need a defense you can always say it was just a paycheck.

I think if I can show range in my portfolio and cover up the more cringey aspects of the project, the average employer will probably not care.

A project like this requires anatomical knowledge on-top of being able to work with non-photorealistic workflows. I'm sure if I choose the most modest costumes/representations of my work for my portfolio, no one will mind. Especially if there are other pieces in my portfolio independent of this project that show additional versatility.

This scenario keeps happening. You'll only hold back the project, and at the end of the day, you will continue regretting it.

>You'll only hold back the project
How? What do you mean by this?

Good luck, im doing the same but with sprites.

Isn't overwatch artist's Twitter full of porn sculpts?

Instead of making the models sexier, you'll limit yourself, instead of them hiring someone 100% dedicated to making sexy models.

A lot of mangakas started out with drawing erotic doujins and then went legit.

>Instead of making the models sexier, you'll limit yourself
How can you make an assumption like that without knowing the sort of person I am? If someone wants something in a particular style, I don't mind being a service for what they want. That's what it means to be a professional.

Imagine if the person pouring your coffee "held back" and only gave you half a cup because they felt like "people don't need that much caffeine". That would just be unprofessional.

everyone does porn and only retards are surprised when they go through an artists portfolio and get surprised by that

yeah yeah I know SK isn't porn but you get the point

A good example is that one non-Tom translator for Senran Kagura that was opposed to working on Senran Kagura. He supposedly changed all sorts of dialog, got a different job, and still went on a Twitter rant about the series (trying to save his reputation in the industry).

That particular guy is just unprofessional. I don't personally have any problems making sexy characters as long as I'm not breaking any laws. I'm just concerned about not being able to work for someone else in the future as a result of this job.

Are you taking the job as a character designer or a character artist? I don't work in this industry but I can't imagine just bring the artist will hurry you. If anything, it may help as it shows you can follow directions of the designer, regardless of your personal bias. I'm sure they'll want to see examples of your work but hopefully you have some of your own stuff you can include to cover that.

In my field, for example (civil engineering), I'm more concerned about the technical level of expertise than I am the specifics of what jobs a prospective employee has worked on. Can they build a sewer pipe network in our software? I don't care which networks they've had a hand in building in the past unless I'm hiring them to be a designer (in which case, yeah, I might want to know which ones in case some have failed).

Franchises like FATE started that way
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Goddamn idiot, this is a golden opportunity for you to learn, if it falls through you can sell lewd 3D models to people via Patreon or something similar.
People love porn.

Take this opportunity to get experience.

Are you in the US? If yes, when your future employers look at your portfolio and see you worked on objectifying women you won't be hired

Truly a sad state we're if people have to ask questions like these.

If you're really concerned, make your own personal profile with things that show all your talent, so some characters, some objects, whatever (I'm not a 3D artist so I'm guessing what would best show your range of expertise, but you get the idea). Everybody needs to work somewhere, as long as your aren't showing up with just lewd models and a salivating mouth I doubt many are going to care.

When sex is a commodity, those selling it need to attack any cheap knockoffs since they hurt the bottom line.
