So, is Scam Citizen ever going to be released?
Considering we were supposed to have full game availible for almost 3 years and the first episode of SQ42 for like 3.5 years, it doesn't look we will ever get the game.

I watched a video about the development that some shill posted a few days ago.
In the video they were making a map with planets and star systems and moons and stations and shit.
One would assume that the galaxy, the star systems and planets and moons nad space stations and asteroids and shit is the foundation of this kind of games.
On that faundation other things can be built.
Well their progress with the foundation is close to 0.
Like they are making pieces of the roof and windows and furniture but they don't have the rough construction work for a house even started.
They would never be able to make as much money as they do now if they release the game, so no.
Art assets almost always come last in development, usually after gameplay is prototyped and they have a good idea of what they want it to be.
You have it the opposite way, they're working on the assets before figuring out the gameplay which has already required to rework a substantial amount of the assets, many ships, armour sets and locations had to be reworked from the ground up and some others still have to be redone such as the hangars.
its like every sex game on patreon, they make a simplistic sex simulator and promise to create a proper game around it but end up just making new sex scenes and actors because thats what brings the money
You have access to what there IS currently though?
>gameplay
Space ship flying from planet to space station, some combat in between, trading goods buying nessesitites, weapons, etc... like in freelancer. But with the ability to actually leave the ship on foot..
If there is no planets and space stations the ship models mean nothing.
Did you even read the original concept for the game? The scope goes far, far beyond what you just said. They have so many professions combined and they want each to be as complex as a standalone game, and they have no idea how they want it it done.
Squadron 42 is what you're looking for probably, if you ask me I'd say that'll definitely come out but for SC there's no chance.
>They have so many professions combined and they want each to be as complex as a standalone game, and they have no idea how they want it it done.
This is a great answer to all the people who invested their money into this shit.
All they needed to do is release Freelancer with new graphics and proper multiplayer. Instead they decided to milk people's money and develop things in random order. Their game feature tracker on github looks like abomination. No Man's Sky released, got shit on and began improving while Scam Citizen still delays SQ42. Most likely it will be forever in Early Access.
Option A: the game eventually releases and It's good, we get cool vydia and everyone is happy
Option B: the game ends up being the scam it is, devs run with the money and massive amounts of furfags and trannies publicly kill themselves to stop the pain and the mocking, everyone is happy as hilarity and shitposting ensue until the end of time.
However you wanna see it, however it ends, we will win and we will have a great time.
Ironically, even if it comes out most people who funded this game probably won't be happy for one big reason, that being how expensive all the ships and stuff are to buy with real money.
There are basically two ways that this can end for the people who've supported this even if it comes out.
1 - The game comes out and is massively P2W because of how hard to earn in game the ships are to keep them in line with the real money prices of those ships. This means the people who funded don't feel ripped off but the playerbase takes a massive hit because of how horrifyingly P2W the game is with ships costing 50-200 bucks each or spending literal months or years grinding in game.
2 - The game comes out and earning ships in game is relatively fair and realistic for people who just want to buy the game and nothing else. Everyone's happy EXCEPT the people who realize they payed hundreds of dollars for ships that can be easily earned for free in game.
Basically, they've put so much monetization into the game to fund it over all these years (like seriously, check the SC site, these aren't even microtransactions, a lot of these ships cost the price of a full length game by themselves) that ironically the people that will feel the most ripped off no matter what will be the people who funded it and supported it because they'll either get a neutered P2W experience that is a chore (or tons of money) to progress anywhere in and ends up with barely any players or they'll get a good game but feel like they got duped into spending extreme amounts of money on overpriced things that everyone else is getting for free.
>a lot of these ships cost the price of a full length game by themselves
The Javelin alone costs $2,500, yes you read that right.
>still gotta wait a couple years for sq42
>even when it comes out it will only be alpha
What the fuck are they doing
Imagine actually trusting them with your money lol
Microsoft will acquire them next year when they realise they can't deliver a viable product just like Freelancer
Good bait thread
Basically my point.
No matter what, the people who funded this game are going to feel like they got fucked over. Even if it does come out.
When you spend too much money, time or effort on something, the option that it was a bad idea is blocked by your brain much akin to a psychological trauma. The possibility that you were cheated is so devastating that it literally can't be.
That's why it's hard to deconvert cultists.
This game is a perfect example of how dangerous feature creep is and why starting development on a game with only a half-baked idea of what you're putting in that game is a bad idea.
They had only a vague idea of what they wanted SC to be when they made the Kickstarter and they've just constantly added new stuff too it and changed things about how the game will be designed around. Squadron 42 wasn't even originally meant to be the thing, the whole game was meant to just be Star Citizen as a self contained project.
What they've been doing is constantly developing new things that they just thought up a few months ago instead of focusing on actually making and finishing the game THEN adding new things with DLC and updates.
>They had only a vague idea of what they wanted
They know exactly what they are doing
>Chris Roberts will deliver a coherent and somewhat finished product without the money people setting deadlines or taking it away from him entirely and letting someone else finish it
Please Stop.
Feature Creep is my trigger phrase
I agree that feature creep is certainly one of the problems. Nevertheless that alone should not totally wreck the development process. What is really fucking their shit up is their utterly retarded prioritizing of certain features and certainly not least also their stupid technical choices, e.g. with the engine.
Developing a FPS component should have been lowest priority until the fucking core space combat gameplay was good. Elite Dangerous fucked up in many ways, but at least they got their priorities sorted.
>without the money people setting deadlines or taking it away from him entirely and letting someone else finish it
he'll just get more backer money to pay off the loan sharks.
