Okay NintenBros. I need some advice. I have had a Nintendo Switch since launch but I got Super Mario Odyssey. I've wanted to try to get Breath of the Wild. I've heard great things and some not so great things. Im just wondering. I'm someone who has only completed Ocarina of Time, Minish Cap, and The Four Swords Anniversary edition games. Ive touched upon Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Should I get Breath of the Wild? Is the DLC worth it? If I do end up getting it, what are things I should be caution of? And how many hours have you put into it, so I know how much time I should set aside for my sessions. Thanks in advance dudes
And like, yeah I know it's Yea Forums but at least tone down the hostility. Harsh criticism is allowed just don't overdo it. There's a different BotW thread you can do that at.
Okay NintenBros. I need some advice. I have had a Nintendo Switch since launch but I got Super Mario Odyssey...
It's not a traditional Zelda game, it focuses on exploration more than any of the other games. It's non linear too. You either love it or hate it by the time you're halfway through it.
>Should I get Breath of the Wild?
Yes.
>Is the DLC worth it?
Not really unless you really like Zelda. Master Mode is shit and the rest is all endgame stuff anyway so you won't be missing out if you decide later.
>If I do end up getting it, what are things I should be caution of?
Leave this thread immediately, the less you know about the game the more enjoyable it will be.
>And how many hours have you put into it, so I know how much time I should set aside for my sessions.
80 on Switch, 25 in CEMU.
I'm kinda a dummy at exploring so I end up getting lost and not knowing what to do. Yeah im that kinda fag who doesnt complain about hand holding in zelda because I end up benefiting from it... But either way I find it fun
Thanks for your input
well user I'm going to tell you this,
>No special items
>No unique temples
>weapons and shields have durability and only last 20-30 hits depending on what you are hitting
>No story, no navy
Like said. It doesn't feel like a zelda game at all. but who knows, just try it.
Simple and straight to the point. Thanks dude. Im guessing since its more enjoyable not knowing, I should go ahead and get it. That's actually very convincing. I've only seen trailers and some webms on here about how silly the combat can be. Its hilarious lmao I'll get it by next week is my plan atm
No special items and they're not very durable? Wait what. No master sword and hylian shield? Oh dang yeah that does sound very different. In fact yeah doesnt sound much like a zelda.
I mean the only 3D zelda I fully beat was OoT so maybe I wont feel so odd about it compared to the peeps who have played all the other 3D zeldas. I like your honest and appreciate the input. Thanks dude
I rather enjoyed it. I don't think any of my play sessions were under 3 hours, it was so damn fun. But, yeah, it was a pretty major adjustment from the mainstream Zelda formula. I'd say play it and thank me later.
Lmao love the purple hair edit. Saving that.
Around 3 hours? Yeah that sounds nice. Pretty different from other Zeldas? Okey dokes now I definitely want to try this one. I'm screenshotting this so I can thank you after I play the game. Thanks for the input dude
There is a Master Sword that works on a charge, and i think the Hylian Shield, while way more durable than any other shield, can still break. For the Hylian shield however, i think you can get another whenever the world resets under a blood moon
Works on a charge? I don't understand.
And the shield breaks but you can get it back after what? Sheesh this game really does sound intriguing
Thanks for the information and input dude! Really looking forward to finding out this stuff
So basically every weapon can only hit objects so many times before breaking, and with the master sword, i think you can score 40 hits before it "breaks," but instead of being gone forever, it has to "recharge its energy" before it can be used again
>Is the DLC worth it?
If you want to get invested in the story I'd suggest getting the DLC for it since the base game could use it, with the added bonus of more shrines, quests, and fleshing out the personalities of the Champions and Zelda.
>What are things I should be caution of?
I'd recommend not using any kind of guide for locations of shrines, memories, gear ect. the first time around. Also there are a few instances where the fps can drop, but it's not enough to break the experience.
>How many hours have you put into it?
It can be easy to burn yourself out playing, so I usually just stopped when I found myself losing focus
Just don't go in with any preset notions because people shitpost about this game daily, play the game yourself, and determine if you like it or not!
Thanks for clarifying that man! I get it now. Interesting concept so that there isn't only 1 main weapon. Sounds neat.
I ran out of Mario Thumbs Up images so have a Doctor Mario instead
You've made my interest for the DLC go up. Thanks dude
No guides for the first run? Yeah no problem
Framerate issues? I don't care for graphics that much lmao but thanks for the heads up man
I'll limit my sessions as to not burn out thanks
And yeah I'm going in empty minded. No hate but a little bit of excitement from curiosity
Thanks for the input. I need more Mario Thumbs up pictures. Have this instead
Toon Link's tight hole
>Should I get Breath of the Wild?
Yes.
>Is the DLC worth it?
Not for twenty dollars. The best part of the DLC is the Sword Trial, which you can emulate if you want, but honestly the Sword Trial was so much fun for me personally that I don't regret spending the money. Play the game and if you fall in love with things like a certain island (you'll know what this is when you see it) then consider picking it up just for that.
>If I do end up getting it, what are things I should be caution of?
As others have said, don't get spoiled. I also recommend avoiding using fast travel as much as possible.
>And how many hours have you put into it, so I know how much time I should set aside for my sessions.
My first playthrough took me about 200 hours. I've put several thousand in it since, but I reckon the average person spends 80-120 based on what I've heard.
Toon Link sure is one tight and epic dude, hole!
I'm def getting the game thanks
The DLC sounds interesting will most likely also get that cuz I don't emulate things cuz I is not very smart with PCs
And yeah I'll avoid spoilers
Plus I'll try go limit my sessions to not burn out
Thanks for the input dude appreciate it
Enjoy the game!
get the DLC, you can't drift on a horse
