I think there is legitimacy, same as the sort that exists for the word "comfy". There's a reason people agree shit like oblivion is comfy even if it's not good. The warm colors, the music, that sort of stuff. Some shit is just appealing to the senses in ways other stuff isn't.

tropical freeze is by far the most overrated game in the donkey kong country series.
modern game art designs use a lot of pastels and avoid heavy dark shades because modern TV's and monitors have trouble with proper blacks.

A certain point in time, seems like after ps2. I remember hooking up my ps3 when it came out and kept playing with the options because everything looked so plain. One day, I hooked up my ps2 and was shocked. Games running at 60fps was also 100% noticeable.
