Playing story, quest or versus gives you points towards unlocking random outfits, as far as I know you don't choose. To choose them, just set them in wardrobe or press Y on the online menu.

Yeah, I was doing that initially too. Just really confused about how it chooses where to drop them, which seems to be 100% random with potential waste if it chooses something cheaper than what you earnt.

be sure to hunt down the fixed steam emu.ini file. the one that comes with the iso has most of the characters locked for some dumb reason (this hints heavily towards tecmo already readying a core fighters version of this game which treats all characters as optional DLC that can be enabled/disabled via license files)

The new ui is awesome. Seriously. It gives the entire game +1 for the look. They really worked on some aspect of the game but some were left barely touched. I agree with half baked. Especially the netcode. Even with best connection indicator there are constant hiccups. As for someone who always respected the series of the clean animations of throws and holds it hurts to see the clipping all ghost holding all the time.

Netcode has everything to do with it. A major part of the netcode is compensating for latency spikes and dropped packets. That’s why the game magically gets worse on wifi. Even on Ethernet though the netcode is still bad.

Marie was barely relevant beyond being Helena's maid. Honoka was just the clone character who happened to be moe. All the girls still got plenty of costumes. It's the guys that were getting left out.
It all got crazy with the polls. Marie, being the only one with her small body type, got votes of everyone who preferred that easily. Marie and Honoka beat out long time favorites, despite being in only one game. Along with the limited roster, you ended up with girls who were there from the beginning not getting in.

Does anyone have a fix for the audio dropouts. At first it was like one drop every few mins but now, even after exiting and coming back into the game, it's like 1 drop every 10s.

I've tried disabling big picture mode completely and it has done nothing.

While this is true, I think it does a very bad job at showing what has improved and changed. Tekken made the smart choice of making certain stuff easier to understand with the visuals and sounds. Some are very small changes but then you also have stuff like the slowmo. Even though the game is not that much different from T6, people respond way better to 7 judging by the game's success in sales, views and entrants.

On the flip side I doubt most could notice the changes in DoA. I don't think it needed to do the same things, I like that DoA isn't full of hit effects. But they really needed to step up in other ways. The supers are probably the least impressive I've seen in a fighter, worse than SC5. They needed to step up the animations to give more visual feedback about what exactly a character's actions mean.

I think people need to stop complaining about special effects and graphics in their fighting games. The game does a fantastic job explaining its mechanics for the first time in forever and it's making me play much differently than I used to. Sure they don't give us an actual checklist of graphical upgrades, but the game obviously looks great and is a steady 60fps, including intros/outros, as long as you enable action mode. I'd say that's fine enough.

Gameplay looks fine but they lost me. If any ill try it when they launch CoreFighters.

There's a new super bar and sidestep mechanic that completely changes the flow of matches, so while the earlier DoA games are great, you'll still have to rewire your brain for this one. You can definitely play an earlier title to get a handle on combos, characters, etc though.

But it doesn't manage to do much of it visually. This is why a lot of games have adopted effects to visually represent stuff like a guard being broken or a big counter hit landing. If someone gets a lethal hit in SC6 you know some kind of special thing happened. DoA6 isn't as good with that stuff, you get a little bit of screen shake. The bit where it stands out is stage interactables, but a lot of those animations aren't great. It needed to really step up in other areas if it wanted to keep a more grounded visual style.

I'll admit I'm not too much of an expert on DoA lore. I mostly come to these threads for some Helena and Nyoposting.

That said, I believe she'd look pretty kindly on Zack. Oh, sure, he's weird and pervy and all that, but at least, he's not a weapons trafficker, and thus helps steer DOATEC in the right-ish direction. Something a bit milder than a lesser evil, if you will.

But again, take that with a grain of salt. I'm more up to date on my Soul Calibur lore than my DoA lore.

Vanilla "I'm a fighter" DOA5 toned it down enough to get praise from journos, and simultaneously absolutely tank in sales.

Probably but then it is okay not being able to land a combo even in training? Even Bayman has a similar one and I can't land it. I never had problems with Leons rising kick and now I'm fucked with every character which uses a move like this.

I pirated DOA6 and SC6 to see if they're worth my money since I want to play online. The gameplay/fighting is smooth and responsive in both games; there's no debate about that. I like both series and would like to get both, but bullshit like pic related has me leaning toward getting SC6 over DOA6. Team Ninjew made a great fighter, but the fucking first season pass costs more than the full price of the digital deluxe edition. Give me characters not costumes in DLC. Let me unlock costumes by playing the goddamn game.

You managed to actually get an unlock point in arcade? I've done most of the difficulties before exploring the challenge mode or whatever it's called and didn't get a single point. It's even worse that the most efficient way to grind seems to be that same mode, but you only get the points the first time you complete the challenge.

I actually really like the style they went with on supers, there are way too many bland strikes but I still like them more than the disjointed cutscenes you get in Tekken and Street Fighter, especially Hitomi's move.

I like them as well. Its not too overtly long and the impact is meaty enough imo. Nico's electric burst and Mila's right hook is pretty satisfying. SFV's supers on the other hand is just too over the top imo
