Soul vs soulless

Superstar Saga has more soul than the remake since it features all the cameos
SSS is also particularly full of soul since everything in the game is so off-model. It's a real one-of-a-kind Nintendo game
I think it's real but it's difficult to put into words that aren't overly simplistic meme buzzwords like how "soul" and "soulless" are used. The point is that you're looking at a piece of artwork, and artwork is a product of culture. Culture drives underlying design patterns, principles, and methodologies used to create the piece of artwork. When a game has a clearly defined target audience, it's going to stringently adhere to its culture because that is the root appeal of any piece of artwork - that it's an extension of a particular culture. The "soulless" factor comes into play when a piece of art is designed with no target audience or culture in mind in order to be as inoffensive, un-intimidating, and globally appealing as possible. The artist responsible for creating whatever it was did so not with the intent to put a part of himself into the artwork but instead to produce a "one size fits all" production that anybody from anywhere and any culture can find agreeable. This creates blandness and mediocrity because it's trying to please a billion different people but nobody in particular.
>models look like shit and nothing like they are supposed to
>Newer game fixes this
>REEEEEEEEEE SOULLESS
Why do retards think like this
>Soul = Original concept
>Soulless = Something that tries to capture the same feeling as the original, only with modern technology and towards a wider audience
Basically, any sequel or remake
If you really can't tell then you havent played much video games. The more a game is purely for profit 1000% above all else the less effort you will feel from the game series or genre or franchise.
Also the music composers or artists got worse as time went on.
It's real, just look at nu-Pokemon
sometimes its real, other times its boomer bullshit
its a case by case basis
new pokemon is definitely souless
The 3d Yume Nikki remake was souless
Were the original designs by Lodoss artist? They look like Lodoss art style.
That's the worse it's ever been, Jesus.
Succubi are soulless and succubi are very beautiful
Seeing something different yet youre familiar with can bring a unexpected joy. Atleast for a little while.
What are these, top to bottom redesigns? If so, 2, 3, 5, and 6 look nothing like their bottom counterparts.
>nu-Doom has no developers from 90s doom
>still pretty fun and unique, you just know they love working on it and also respects players intelligence (soulful)
How did they do it? Has any other western franchise "come back" pulled this off?
I only ever played the original.
Didn't know it was that bad.
It looks like it was sucked dry...very bland and uninspiring.
The original felt like a 90s VN ( of course it was).
This remake does not leave that feeling intact.
I wonder if they tried removing the 90s references like the MC making comments on widescreen televisions being stupid because there is very little support for the format.

Honestly Yoshi just feels like the most souless Nintendo character nowadays. Like everything he does in any post-2005 Mario game is Miyamoto saying, "Cutefags, did you rike it?"
Without context, left looks like a stereotypical 60s femme fatale while right just looks like a social smoker.
Name 1 (one) thing that has more SOUL in vidya than unnecessarily high quality pixel art.
Right looks more like his classic appearance than the left. Also how is a big dumb grin and "smirk"?
I think MK characters looked way more badass in the trilogy
doc...
