Ps2 emulation is goo-

this aint a problem on pal since 50hz

wrong

PCSX2 isn't very good at running Jak games, you have to play them in software mode or the eyes glitch out, that's about the only issue aside from performance though. Jak 2 runs good though, it's only in that starting area where I got frame drops, the open world runs good.

I wonder if it drops later on though, probably not desu.

>I wonder if it drops later on though, probably not desu.
gee i wonder. Jak 3 is also shit from the start.

b-but its playable

indeed it is

Haven't tried emulating Jak 3 much since I've noticed it suffers from regressions. I've seen several different bugs on a variety of builds. It's playable though you'd just have to find out on which build doesn't have odd visual bugs.

im not talking about visual bugs, obviously I woulnd't even fuck with these things in hardware rendering. Speed is totally fucked.

>20 years of technological advance
>PS2 is still a bitch to emulate
>you still need a machine 500x times more powerful than a ps2 to emulate it

Your CPU just sucks,

>hardware mode runs well but has tons of graphical problems like instant death sniper lasers being invisible and hacking enemies covering your screen in shit making hacking sections unplayable
>software mode has working grafix but runs like total shit
i just wanted to play ghost in the shell

gran tourism works ok

That Matrix game is the same way. What sucks is that the PC port is also missing effects.

your eyes must suck

What?

if you don't notice slowdown in that area that shouldn't be there then I don't know what to tell you. Webm is an example, it's much easier to tell in game.

Slowdown = weak CPU.

do you not notice the counter at the bottom right? 8700k btw

Fix your settings then noob.

Just hack a PS2 and play it on that. It's softmoddable and you can play games off a hard drive, or through a network

I do have a hacked ps2.

it's software mode, there are no settings besides increasing rendering threads.

Play in hardware mode then.

thanks asshole now i have to go play it

it's good when you play an actual good game

Nice drifts

already beat jak 1

whats your point?

Emulation in general is a big hit or miss.
Hell, I even have problems with emulating MGS1 at full speed with Retrocarch Beetle, despite trying multiple settings. That game runs and even looks better on the version I bought for PS3.
MGS2 also slows down at random moments, and also runs better in the MGS HD collection for console. Meanwhile, Ace Combat Zero so far seems to run pretty smooth for me at 1080p internal resolution with the most recent guide for PCSX2 1.5.0.

If anyone can point me to a definite guide how to setup these games I'd definitely appreciate it. I just can't be arsed to tinker with the options anymore.

Then make a better emulator yourself?

post specs

It runs good games well. Why would they bother with shitty platformers?

The best way to play the Jak games is the PS3 remasters anyway. Emulation sucks for it, and the PS4 version uses an emulated and upscaled version of the PS2 game rather than running on hardware like the PS3 version.

Spooky. The version I have now makes hardware really fucking buggy but I've seen it looking alright before sans the eyes. Never seen black eyes before though.

Anyway lower the EE setting so you trade slow downs with FPS dips(just like muh real hardware). I dunno if cycle stealing helps or not.

MGS2 runs at solid 60fps on PCSX2 for me, the HD collection has fps dips. Pretty sure cutscenes were 30fps too but that might just be the vita version. I don't remember doing anything funny for that game but I'll check in a sec.

Get the remasters on PS4 dude.

the PS3 remasters run liek dogshit

Attached: cb2.png (1858x1080, 1.18M)

why would I have a ps4?

is the framerate bad or what?

just get a ps2 with freemcboot

Apparently the PS4 remaster is fucking awful. PS3 or bust. I wonder if you can emulate it at full speed yet.

Attached: pcsx2 2019-03-01 15-29-36-76.png (1920x1080, 1.57M)

I have one, looks like shit

Attached: 2019-03-01 23-24-11.webm (960x540, 2.53M)

I hope you're baiting otherwise you're a fucking moron.
it's not about horsepower but about accurracy, there are N64 games that you still can't emulate because it's impossible to make a current computer emulate the 1:1 conditions of an N64

They're fine, I haven't had any issues other than a crash once. Even if they're not perfect, they're still the best way to play the games at this point.

why?

Framerate is pretty inconsistent. Most of the time its fine but there are certain levels (the run away from the tank one in Jak2 comes to mind) run like fucking molasses

use component on a crt

yeah this is why I don't give the jak collection on the vita too much shit for being 20fps
at least ratchet was a solid 30

>actual fun QTEs
where did it all go wrong bros

Attached: pcsx2 2019-03-01 15-33-04-20.png (1920x1080, 1.21M)

>crt
lol nice try

Attached: hmm.jpg (400x300, 15K)

>muh subjectively good games runs well

since this is an emulation thread
how do Drakengard 3 and Red Dead Redemption run on the ps3 emulator? The perfomance of Drakengard 3 can't be worse than on the actual system, right?

for RDR you're better off with x360 emulation honestly, performance is miles ahead, although there's still some issues

ARE YOU READY

What is happening in this webm?

>x360 emulation
Is that usable now? Also, whatever state it is in it's probably not better than the XboneX's backwards enhancing feature or whatever it's called. Backwards support is the one thing Xbox has been doing right the past generation.

I completely forgot rdr isn't an exclusive. Thanks, I'll look into it.

emulation

D3 runs good on emulator even on toasters. RDR has shit performance on RPCS3 but less bugs than Xenia, at least going by that report back in January when Xenia got a big update in regards to RDR.

OP is flipping out because the game is slowing down a little bit.

SWEET APPLE PIE

>OP is flipping out because the game is slowing down a little bit.
huh? it's speeding up.

Is that the PS2 port of Quake3? Cause if so man that is hella nitpicky, complaining about bugs for that. Like why would anyone spend even just a second optimizing for it when the PS2 game is a port of a PC game in the first place, which could be run by my 500mhz pentium 3

and this post is the reason emulation is so shitty. Optimizing your emulator around whatever the internet considers to be popular will fuck it in the long run.

It's not shitty and it wasn't developed in that way.

i just got ptsd of playing the vita port

Is it better to emulate in software or hardware mode?

for a long time pcsx2 was a ffx/xii emulator. Obviously popular weeb shit is going to get priority.

I hate these shiny Retroarch menus and RetroPie frontends. The default one is servicable, but all the different frontends I see are form over function.

Software if you computer has the chops to handle it. Hardware if you can stomach the occasional graphical glitches.

That has never been true. FFX in particular literally always has had issues unlike most niche games.

I can hardly tell if you're joking or not, what does the game's popularity have to do with it, why would you pick the emulated ps2 port instead of just the pc game, there is just no purpose for it

people are only going to bother working on shit they are actually interested in or what their patrons are interested in. It's a hobby. Obviously no one gives a shit about the quake 3 ps2 port so it gets the shaft.

I mean I get the sentiment, shame for unrecognized pearls to not get any love but this is one instance where the finger pointing is silly you know

and fixing this bug that is not even recognized because no one even knows it exists could potentially make the emulator as a whole more robust/accurate and fix other issues.
