Holy fuck bros. Why does the Dragon Engine look so fucking GOOD. It's a shame 3, 4, and 5 aren't getting Kiwami Remakes.
Yakuza thread
bump
Dragon engine is trash
HOW?
Catfight battle is very difficult. Is there something I should know to make it less difficult?
use jessica
5 in particular is far too big for a kiwami type remake on the dragon engine
combat went straight to shit in 6 and k2 it's casualized floaty bullshit. Games look nice writing is good but they butchered the mechanics
I'm having fun with it. The only weird thing to me is the ragdoll physics
did they fuck up the music in two as well?
most of the remixes are ok, but they have more new songs for this one since the composer that did a lot of 2's music doesn't work on the soundtracks anymore.
Why did they get rid of the different fighting styles?
because after people unlock the tiger drop they NEVER use the styles
Kiwami 2 is almost as fun as zero. Charge attacks are fun to use and ultimate heat makes the heat gauge more than just an instakill resource
yikes imagine being this retarded
K2 has the best combat in the entire series
it is the best game in the entire series
>Finish Zero
>Do all the side stuff, acquire the 4th styles
>Try new game plus on hard
>So easy everything is a cakewalk
Fffffffffffffffffffuck.
I just wanted something challenging that also allowed me to use the fucking styles. Have I wasted my time? Should I have started Legend and unlocked them there?
I remember not too long ago when it actually took effort to win a fight in Yakuza 0 without getting touched. I lost track of how many times I breezed through fights in Kiwami 2 on Hard with three swings of a bicycle. Also, Kiwami 2's heat actions were pretty lame. Some of the new additions to combat were cool, but considering what it came at the expense of, I don't think it was ultimately worth it.
But hey, Judge Eyes seems to be adding styles back in. Maybe it'll be good?
what version are you playing on?
if you're on PC then there may be a way to start a premium new game on legend
wow i'm glad they brought back a bunch of songs from previous games and improved the karaoke minigame
PC indeed
I don't care about the money, items or anything else but it'd be nice to have the skills carry over to Legend difficulty. I just feel like I wasted a lot of time over nothing since this shit is too easy now.
Honestly there's no fucking need for multiple styles, just one with depth. No need for tiger drop bullshit either.
>user plays game and get better
>naturally, he's fucking pissed off about it
I still prefer the original ost at the end of the day but damn if K2 didn't nail and improved the two most important songs:
youtube.com
youtube.com
It was neat finding out Hideki Naganuma made a few songs for the series.
judge eyes seems to be doing it correctly.
having one style for 1v1's and the other being effective against multiple enemies.
except K2 and 6 has only 1 style which works perfectly for both 1v1 and multiple enemies
PC when?
Not sure. Betting on 7 months, but it will come out on PC for sure.
I really really hope so, sold my PS4 and my 2 regrets are Fist of the North Star Yakuza, and Kiwami 2
Is there any difference between the pc and ps4 releases?
Yeah, I'm not so sure about FotNS but at least Kiwami 2 will be a PC game at some point in the future (hopefully this very year). Not that much to lose.
pc release isn't out yet
Fug forgot to mention I was talking about 0 and Kiwami
>play Kiwami
>the penultimate fight with those 2 cocksucking MIA spooks and their boss is way harder than the actual final fight
>have myself a sensible chuckle at how he was a poseur bad-ass to the very end
If you're talking about Zero and Kiwami 1:
-Framerate capped at a much higher number
-Possibility of installing various mods like classic music / different graphics (you can even change it to where you can replace videos and telephone cards with the real porno stuff)
-In Kiwami (and soon I guess Zero in a newer patch) you can change the FoV, and works with different aspect ratios
-Higher resolutions, of course
-Custom controls
then no besides higher framerate
>30fps
>motion blur
Yeah it looks good in stills, but I'd prefer it have been in 60fps.
has the
It looks good because it's an actual modern game engine. The previous games other than 6/Kiwami 2/Judge Eyes are all PS3 cross-gen games.
Nice, thanks
why does PS2 Kiryu look like Ricardo?
Yep, and Haruka is the most cunnylicious in Yakuza 3. We need that remaster STAT.
fucking hate the way 0 locks a lot of abilities to specific heat bars.
you end up forgetting you have half of them because of that.
See normally I would say fuck this weeb garbage why is this being recommended to me it's just streets of rage with mafia stuff
But this time around I was surprised to find the greatest fucking game of our generation, Yakuza 0. Good story, good side content, good controls, good music, good women. It has everything. Even a fucker that beats you up and takes all of your money. Still I was unable to find out why some random yakuza would pimp out an immigrant bitch only to marry her afterwards.
just totally finished kiwami, got all the upgrades, did most of the side stuff
the fuck do i play now
Crackdown 3
kiwami 2
Kiwami 2.
So are we actually getting 3-5 on ps4?
but i hate playing stuff on ps4
also it runs like garbage and has aliasing everywhere
why didn't they put in a 60fps mode for the ps4 pro
It's the goatee.
yeah 3 and 4 are out already
store.playstation.com
store.playstation.com
have fun
Either suck it up and play a great game or continue to whine like a little baby
oooh i love this wee bit in this song
youtu.be
I only buy physical English
boohoo
>physical
>2019
I played 5 on a ps3, it runs at like 20fps, is the longest game in the series by far but I still had a great time, just suck it up
>buying digital games on console
only retards do this
After playing 0, I don't like this over the top Majima, playing Kiwami 1. It's too forced. Does he get better?
>not selling the games that turn out to be shit
>yakuza0babbies
PC version was a mistake
Yes, he's really only Jared Leto joker tier in the first game, gradually becoming an actual character between 2 and 0
WHY IS A JAPANESE GAME ON THE PS4
Just be glad its not a Switch exclusive.
I'm playing 0 right now Yea Forumsros.
Literally in the second day when the world finally open. What I'm in for?
Also, did I made the right choice playing 0 before kiwami 1?
the game looks perfectly good and runs fine on a PS4Pro
also runs ok on a regular PS4
only 6 runs like shit on a base PS4
Actually I have purposefully skipped Yakuza 0 because of its popularity. It was becoming too mainstream.
should have played Kiwami first
Ah, shit...
It's not as easy as flipping a switch to add a 60FPS mode. The PS4 Pro's CPU is barely better than the base PS4, it's the GPU that got a big upgrade. Many games are framerate-limited by the CPU.
he starts to revert to his stoic self at yakuza 4 from what i've played
>Dojima’s gonna freak
faggots like you will never GET TO THE TOP
so how is the kiwami 1 port? better than 0?
why?
Playing 0 first makes kiwami 100 times better
If people tell you to play kiwami first because muh relase order they're retarded
>not liking KIRYU-CHAAAAAN Majima
What a pleb
I played Kiwami 1 first and I obviously missed a lot of references, but at the same time I feel like I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if I had done the opposite because of how much of a downgrade it is compared to 0
>lost track of how many times I breezed through fights in Kiwami 2 on Hard with three swings of a bicycle
You do realize this works in almost every single Yakuza game, right? Even in Black Panther you can trivialize any fight on the hardest mode with a two-handed weapon. Ishin and Kenzan are the only ones that don't let you do that because there's not much in the way of two-handed stuff. It's even easier in 0 because you have Beast which buffs all damage in general, and in 5 Saejima can literally one-shot 5+ mooks with stop signs littered all around Tsukimino and Kamurocho because the damage is so absurd and the range of the thing is like half the fighting arena.
Playing 0 first is the best entry point, especially if you're already planning on playing kiwami afterwards
It's identical which means it runs perfectly at max settings + msaa for me and encountered 0 bugs
because of the last 30 seconds of 0
if 0 is your first Yakuza game you wont understan and be like "ok?"
and also because you will turn out like one of those fags who "why is majima crazy now?!!!!"
Nishiki story is much better if going from 0 to 1
i bought yakuza 0 a couple years back but didn't get into it - mainly my fault as i wasn't really focusing on the cutscenes and after a couple hours had no clue what was happening - but lately i've heard a lot more good things about it. someone persuade me to give it another go
It takes a bit to get going, Kiryu requires a decent chunk of setup before his story gets the ball rolling while Majima starts off pretty strong from the get-go. Give it another chance and pay attention, this is a story and character-heavy series after all.
nice bait artard
I see, thanks
>just finished kiwami 2
>want to replay 0
I just want to play yakuza games over and over again until Judgement comes out the gameplay loop is the tits
I still haven't played the majima story in 2
buy Fist of the North Star + Kiryu Skin
its a game where Kiryu beat up anime characters
It's only an hour or so long unless you go out of your way to mess around on the side, get Kiryu his money, and play some minigames. The fights are alright but it's very very short.
I agree, every story element in fact is better going from 0 to 1.
The problem is that the game itself feels like a downgrade, there's less stuff to do, the game is much shorter, the world is much smaller.
So if I had played 0 first I would have enjoyed the story a lot more, but I would be kinda disappointed at the same time.
What Majima scenes were new to Kiwami outside of Majima everywhere? Shit like how he's at the funeral, goes down easy, then gets up and says he doesn't give a shit about fighting you here and only did because his boss said too seems more consistant with Majima everywhere.
Wasn't this scene supposed to be cut? I remember a bunch of people on Yea Forums screaming about some tranny censoring bullshit.
Personally I'm not sure I would've played both games if I started with kiwami, or at least not right away
0 blew me away and made me super excited for the kiwami pc port
I wasn’t a huge fan of the demo, is the story anywhere near the quality of 0/K1/K2? Also is there in depth side activities like Cabaret club, real estate Royale ect...
>tfw the boss rushes from climax battles will never come back
it would be the dopest shit if they had a boss rush in judgment that allowed you to play as kiryu and use all his abilities from K2.
loved the final climax battle in 5 because of that shit.
A substory where a drag queen tries to rape Kiryu in Yakuza 3 got cut.
It’s not long, I cleared it in a hour or so, it’s a handful of cutscenes and a handful of fights. Quite a bummer compared to his 0 role
Kiwami remedies this, the final battle of the Majima everywhere system contextualized his actions as ones where he really cared about Kiryu and understood the challenges he was going to have to face at the end of the game, he went all out against Kiryu to make him better and stronger and train him after so long out of the game, and who better to do it then Majima himself? He saw rusty Kiryu and took the chances he had to fight him again and again until he was reforged into the true Dragon of Dojima once again. During that final confrontation he says something like, if you can't beat me you really won't be able to stop them. Loved it.
That one was new and the one where Majima calls you out to the dock because he thinks you are being ambushed was new as well.
The first encounter with him is old but it's elongated to meet him.
The encounter with him in front of Poppo when you exit prison to introduce you to Majima Everywhere is new.
The funeral scene is new.
The pier scene somewhere around chapter 10 or 11 is new.
For Nishiki all the scenes at the start of each chapter are new and the first scenes of the game before the Dojima incident are all new. In the original you just went straight to the Dojima stuff.
>is the story anywhere near the quality of 0/K1/K2?
Nope. All scenes based on FotNS are very very short and summarized and it rushes you through them. The OC stuff is decent but the FotNS stuff is incredibly rushed.
>Also is there in depth side activities like Cabaret club, real estate Royale ect...
Cabaret Club and Bartender Ken are the in-depth ones but the latter isn't too too long. There's also stuff like racing, arcade games (All from 0), Doctor Ken (Classical music murder rhythm game), their own spin on baseball, and the casino.
Personally I think the finale wasn't as impactful because Nishiki was always just looking at you from his high castle, compare that to Kuze.
>Not starting at 5 like a retard because of the shilling on Yea Forums, than going 0 and Kiwami
Crazy Majima still surprised me.
I must be the only one but the two Dragon Engine games(excluding Judge Eyes) have been the worse experiences I have ever had with a Yakuza game. I came in with 0 when it first launchedn then played 1-5 then played Kiwami and was pumped for 6. 6's shitty story aside, the engine itself and what it offers just doesn't feel fun. I don't really like the new system where you have to grind a lot more just to upgrade, the visuals look a bit nicer but also some characters look like dolls. The combat styles they gave Kiryu in 6 and Kiwami 2 are fucking terrible and are only good in terms of showing off the physics in the dragon engine, but not good in actual use. I tried to like 6 but I really couldn't and usually I try to do as many substories as possible in Yakuza games but I couldn't do it in 6. 2 is tied for my favorite Yakuza game with 0 and was hype for the additions and updates they would give the engine from 6, and I just really don't like a lot of what they changed and the presentation changes they made because of the engine. I am probably in the minority, but I really hope Judgment and Shin Yakuza are way better.
fucking baldass nigga, love him
Strikes me as a budget Yakuza spin off in the style of FotNS, I’ll give it a try user thanks! Never really been into FotNS so hopefully this gets me invested.
Yeah, it's pretty budget. As long as you go in expecting the story to kind of rush through things and just act as fanservice rather than an in-depth retelling of some characters then you'll be fine. Just know that there's a lot of driving with a buggy that handles awful to explore, it gets better later on but early on it's pretty bad. The game also will not let you explore at all until late chapter 5 and finally lets you go early chapter 6 so be ready for that as well.
