Good thing the Desmond storyline was always going to be trash with the 2012 doomsday shit which doesn't make the slightest bit of sense if you have even half a brain cell. Now I get to enjoy cozy historical-fiction titles without having to worry about some boring metaplot except when Ubi feels like they need to obligatorily interrupt my game a couple times each story to try to recruit me into being a game dev.

So what do people think of the lore, now that we know that the universe Layla, Desmond, etc are in is just a simulation, which also explains all the historical inaccuracies and the power of the artefacts?

Before Ubi retconned it, AC took place in a universe similar to that of Drus Ex where all conspiracy theories were real. The only difference veing in AC they all had to do with the secret Assassin/Templar war. Roswell aliens? Hitler escaping the Fuhrer Bunker alive? JFK's assassination? All true, all to do with the Pieces of Eden. The most blatant exemples being the ACII Glyphs. AC1 emails explain how the world has already been dying for the last few years, with half of Africa dead and the movie industry about to crash. It all pointed to the world getting to its final stage in 2012, just as it did 2000 years prior to Those Who Came Before. That's exactly what Subject 16's blood scribblings at the end of 1 pointed at. You may not have liked that direction, and I don't care. But seeing that back during the first few games it didn't make sense, is pretty stupid.

Lore died with III. No one nowadays cares about Abstergo or the Animus, they just want their Witcher clone.
I just headcanon III ending with Desmond winning and stop playing with Unity, that's good enough for me.

boosters are actually terrible, because they only scale the base reward.

for example:
100 base xp from the quest
20 trait bonus xp
35 trait bonus xp

if you use a +100% xp booster, that would be +100 xp and only a 65% increase in xp reward.
if you use a +50% xp booster, it's only 32% more xp.
the +25% club reward xp booster is only a 16% increase in xp.

That being said the boosters technically are all unlimited, because you can enable and disable them at will, so you just activate them when cashing in quests.
