This game has fucking garbage combat and people said it was the best part of the game. Currently just after the fight with the ice woman boss and every fight plays out the same way:
>Every enemy can either instakill or kill you in 2-3 hits >They use super-armour in every move >You have to bait out every attack then punish >If you straight up decide to use your weapon and skills to kill a boss than a fight takes way longer than needed >If you want the boss fight to be a moderate enjoyable length then you have to use magic or jutsus
The entire game is bait, punish, repeat until you get to a boss then it's bait, punish, repeat until they are low enough to use guardian spirit to end the fight quickly. If they actually made the weapons feel like they were doing damage and you could go toe to toe with enemies but as it is now it's fucking boring as shit.
I'm level 64 and on the duel with Li Naomasa. The reliance on magic to end fights quickly is killing the game for me.
Thomas Long
What weapon are you using? What level are you? Yuki-Onna was the one enemy where I decided a lv1 run wasn't going to be much fun because of the threat of one shots and lack of skill points, but the game's combat is beautiful when you know what you're doing. It's like a dance.
I'll never forget when I parried Yasuke's iai on reaction. It was beautiful.
Dominic Walker
>Li Naomasa That's the Red Demon guy, correct? He's a spearfag, he's easy to handle. What are you having trouble with, specifically?
Jose Ross
I'm using the Kusarigama and I'm level 64.
I'm not having any problems, I beat him on like my second try, it's how just long and repetitive the fights feel without using magic or buffs.
Austin Lopez
That level sounds about right for the section you're at. I suppose it's just how it is, the enemies don't die in a few hits. If you're not having fun why not try another weapon type? The Odachi packs a way bigger punch but it's still reasonably light.
Kayden Butler
>Every enemy can either instakill or kill you in 2-3 hits Use better armor >They use super-armour in every move As do most bosses in these types of games otherwise you can just stunlock them to death. You can do that with human bosses btw or else apply two elemental debuffs to yokai and that also works >You have to bait out every attack then punish Y-yes... you um, you have to avoid their attacks and hit them? >If you straight up decide to use your weapon and skills to kill a boss than a fight takes way longer than needed Factually untrue >If you want the boss fight to be a moderate enjoyable length then you have to use magic or jutsus That will actually kill them faster.
Justin Jackson
roll poison or water on your kusarigama or change to axe or odachi and hit their backs
Jonathan Robinson
I've tried other weapons but they feel like I'm just getting a single poke in then having to retreat, bait and punish again.
>>If you straight up decide to use your weapon and skills to kill a boss than a fight takes way longer than needed >Factually untrue Show me a video without buffs (jutsus or weapon buffs), magic or an over-powerered character defeating a boss quickly.
Joseph Peterson
NiOh combat is at least 2x better than Dark Souls , 3x more challenging in general and 5x more punishing. Learn to abuse stances and stuns, and to fucking BLOCK INSTEAD OF DODGE. Only overconfident Dark Souls players who approach NiOh with something like a 'Yeah I've beaten Dark Souls III... on NEW GAME PLUS!!! This will be ez pz :)' end up complaining about combat in NiOh being garbage.
John Young
I'm using the light stance to get behind the then attack with high stance. I haven't had a good Kusarigama drop in a lllloooonnnnggg time.
Gabriel Hernandez
>Learn to abuse stances and stuns, and to fucking BLOCK INSTEAD OF DODGE. That's what I'm doing, I'm not finding the game hard, just long boring fights. If anything it's easier than those other games but just so much more fucking boring.
Colton Taylor
>people ignoring that the problem OP is having lies solely in the games horrible AI and atrocious lack of enemy variety the combat in Nioh CAN be great and lots of fun but the game never puts you in situations to actually make use of its combat system, the level design and five enemy types you see repeated ad nauseum actively drained my enjoyment of this game. some fun boss fights but ultimately a huge disappointment for me, I haven’t played since launch so maybe the DLC fixed some of these issues but it was just wasted potential for me
Michael Morales
>no weapon buffs
So you want a white level 1 weapon
Okay and
>defeating a boss quickly.
Oh you got me!
Aiden Jackson
So the game gets more fun when you actually use magic and shit. Whats the complain again? It seems you want it to be a pure action game (not saying that it is a bad thing, just trying to figure out whats going on)
Grayson Cook
My weapons are purple and they are doing shit damage. So you proved my point, it's basically get to a boss, pick the colour of magic you need to beat them, get the halfway down then use your GS and win. Yeah, great action.
Jeremiah Sullivan
The fact you have to rely it on to make the fights feel less boring is killing it for me, the game feels like it's saying "pick this colour to win" I could do it without the magic but it feels pointless to constantly go toe to toe once you know a bosses attack patterns.
Ryan Brown
AI perhaps, since he keeps saying that it is boring (although he could just play other game instead), he never mentions anything about the enemy variety (which is actually a problem)
Lincoln Young
Here's a thought:
If you don't like the game, don't play it. :^)
Jonathan Clark
I know I should go play something else but I keep waiting on a moment where the game clicks or a new game mechanic appears that makes it fun to play but I'm getting to the point when I don't see that happening.
Eli Rogers
user you are not making sense The fact you have to rely on living weapon proves you're bad at the game
Outside of dual bosses and one or two attacks, most of them can be fought directly
Joseph Long
Ok, so you feel the game goes from to tedious (since you dont have a problen with the difficulty) to piss easy, you would prefer a middle term. Is that right? I mean, we are all hoping for improvments in the sequel, what exactly do you want from it?
Nicholas Ross
You're trash, it's ok
Wyatt Ross
lmao OP a Soulsfag shitter you can straight up parry the red demon dude what are you even on about, not even hard
Jack Hill
How am I not making sense? I said I don't need the GS because I know the patterns of the bosses attacks but the fights last wwwwaaayyyy longer when trying to go toe to toe using only weapons, you NEED magic to stop yourself from falling asleep during the boss battles. For example the ice woman boss
>Stay out of range >She comes close >Get a few hits on her >Get out of range again >When she's in her second phase stay further back than before, block her shots and dodge her charge then get a few hits in >Repeat and hope to not fall asleep
or
>Do the same shit as mentioned above but once shes in her second phase use the GS to end it there and to save yourself time
Wyatt Howard
I'm not sure, less reliance on magic I guess.
Read my posts, I'm not finding the game difficult, just long and tedious.
Josiah Myers
>I don't need GS
Says otherwise - I'm done responding to you
Aaron Perez
It's not for everyone, some people are bad and make things tedious for themselves
Austin Martin
It's fine you don't seem to understand so I'm wasting my time with you anyway.
Robert Long
youtu.be/PEh17SFi35E No living weapon, no buffs and little under 3 minutes. Is this really too long of a boss fight to you?
Brayden Powell
That's fine, enjoy your pick a colour and press triangle and circle to win simulator.
Asher Wood
That looks like how my fight went but his weapon is doing way more damage.
Ryan Bell
I cant open the video, but since you dobt mention anything aboit the equipment, perhaps you might want to check how does your armor+weapon change your stats until you find what you like
Nathaniel Robinson
Is your weapon level close to the level of your character? Have you focused on raising the stats that increase your damage with said weapon?
Evan Watson
>Every enemy can either instakill or kill you in 2-3 hits Block, dodge and learn proper spacing you humongous faggot. >They use super-armour in every move All demons can be ki broken, subjected to confusion or hit in their weak points for damage and long lasting stun. Learn to destroy yokai horns and you will never have this problem again. >You have to bait out every attack then punish Absolutely false, in fact if you're doing it you're just absolute shit at fighting, mix stances more and use their abilities. >If you straight up decide to use your weapon and skills to kill a boss than a fight takes way longer than needed Stop sucking. Each boss has weak points. Each boss can either be guard broken, parried or run out of ki. Each boss has its own specific weakness. Each weapon has massive DPS moves. >If you want the boss fight to be a moderate enjoyable length then you have to use magic or jutsus Magic and jutsu are crutches for clueless newfaggots. It's no wonder higher difficulties nerf them considerably.
Alexander Morgan
>Deep combat system with multiple stances and moves for each stance >Ki management is mostly determined by skill and not upgrades
Caleb Campbell
You couldn't deduce all of this by watching gameplay? That's what I did. Sounds like you rather believe what people say than your own eyes.
James Richardson
>The reliance on magic to end fights quickly mad cuz bad
Ryan Powell
>This game has fucking garbage combat You're not totally wrong.
>You have to bait out every attack then punish >If you want the boss fight to be a moderate enjoyable length then you have to use magic or jutsus I'm telling you right now, in case you're making this thread because you've hit a wall with the game and aren't just shitposting, the entire game boils down into "get behind the boss and vaporize it in 30 seconds or you WILL get OHKO'd, even though you have every buff you can cast on". That's just the way it is.
If you embrace it, and have a good build, the game gets pretty enjoyable.
I have had immense fun with this game outside of your frustrated shitter perception, thank you for your concern
Nolan Edwards
If I have to break the game to enjoy it then it's not going to be enjoyable for me, I might as well play the games with cheats on, which is essentially how it seems to want you to play anyway.
As many anons have pointed out; the game is long and tedious because you're bad. It's like taking forever to finish fights in DMC and then complaining the game is boring, when it's only your own fault. Literally learn the combat and play the game better, then you'll probably start having a lot more fun. You think you're good because you're not getting hit, but that's literally the start of getting good. And before you start again about magic reliance; I didn't even use magic or ninjutsu until NG+. Wasn't really necessary.
Owen Carter
>relying on magic to beat fights at level fucking 64
So what is the magic thing I'm missing to make the game fun?
Julian Gonzalez
You have to be particularly bad to think anything short of no fire Umi-bozu takes a normal amount of time, let alone too long. Congratulations, now do the tutorial again since you clearly learned nothing.
John Campbell
Jesus Christ I don't think there's a better example of Yea Forums defending a game only after it being ported to PC
Jeremiah Lee
I'm on way of the wise and literally haven't touched magic aside from speccing in some mostly useless summoning scrolls
Luis Phillips
If you had fun with Naomasa, just wait until Shima Sakon comes to push your shit in
You don't have to break it for NG, which you should really try to finish if you can.
You just need a decent armor set and weapon, but the game just a garbage job at explaining just how important that is.
Try wearing Muneshige's set and use Raiken with Guardian Spirit Scrolls to inflict the Lightning debuff on enemies. Mune's set increases your damage by 47% against enemies with the debuff. It's huge.
Yup. It's trash. At least I appreciate Dark Souls series much more after wasting my money on this. Easy to say I'll never buy anything from this company again.
Brandon Brown
It's definitely one of the better examples of a complete and utter shitter justifying being fucking terrible at the game
Ryan Gonzalez
>defiled my entire set and best weapon >this dude blocks my path out of the abyss
I'll try and finish it at least once. How much further do I have to go after the ice boss? I'll try it if there isn't much further to go.
Ryan Morgan
can any of the dlc bosses appear in the abyss
Matthew Barnes
Attack debuffs.
Levi Collins
I don't know, getting good? The combat is fucking great. A lot of stances and moves you can utilize to great effect. I usually dodge slashes with the spear-hop (forgot the name, haven't played in a while), for instance. I rarely "stand back and wait" in combat. You have SO many options to dance around your opponent, it's disgusting. If you were actually as good as you insist you are, you'd use these options to constantly keep up your DPS while not getting hit. This way, most bosses don't take longer than a few minutes.
Sakon is the realest nigga in the game. Commanding, fearless, loyal to the absolute end, honorable yet cunning, the epitome of samurai lord. Made swords look like pussy shit compared to a real man's spear in a game set the sengoku era. Actually picked up the spear just because of him
Nolan Rivera
I'm not getting hit and I'm punishing them, what's the difference? You're going toe to toe and using i-frames, I'm standing back and just waiting on their bullshit, it still works.
Liam Martin
I fucking loathe the optional encounter with his overhead hitting a 2.5k lightning strike Nue-style on you.
Oliver Hughes
Are you fucking serious? Jesus wept.
Samuel Cruz
I think she's like the mid-boss of the game. She's tough. She ruined my first playthrough. Just seriously, pick up Muneshige's set and Paired Raiken.
The only attack-lowering Onmyo I'm aware of got nerfed into the ground. It's something like -5% or some shit now. Worthless.
I should probably look into onmyo more then just for sloth scrolls
Matthew Sullivan
Stop trying to play it to beat it for some form of e-cred, actually learn how different stances, skills, Ki Pulse, Ki breaking and back attacks can be strung together to do high damage combos and focus on experimenting in each and every fight to learn how to deal with it in the best most interesting way possible. That doesn't mean taking no damage because you used sloth and poked once every year either.
Grayson Gonzalez
I fucking love games with spears and yes I always spammed NOSPEARS, sue me. This game is a fucking wet dream come true. I only used spear with either odachi or a katana as backup. I have no clue whether spears are optimal or not. The moves and range are amazing. Also that you can switch between poking for narrow areas and swiping when you have room. Fuck now I want to play again.
Connor Bell
I was disappointed that his battle theme wasn't unique to him.
I think I'll leave playing it. I'll go play Shadow Tactics instead.
Isaiah Rogers
>2.5k
Wish I still had that screenshot of Tachibana iai-ing me for 36k
Jack Brooks
>It still works Never argued it didn't work, but to me that's boring as shit. And apparently to you too. I'm saying you can both do more DPS and have more fun by dancing around them. Which is something you're not doing yet. You might want to try that.
Jack Wood
You would be extremely wrong, and forgetting the other two main attack debuffs. Plus there's all the other infinite survival tools.
Matthew Peterson
holy fuck what a noob, uses every crutch in the game and overlevels himself
Dominic Adams
Why play a game to just work, when everything about it is intended to reward doing otherwise?
Evan Walker
I tried to beat the first dlc boss while being level 118
Should I level up more adn get proper gear? he onehits me with basically every attack
Sloth is totally busted in NG. You could/should use it, sure. But, seriously, one of the most fundamental aspects of the game is crafting a cohesive weapon and gear set. You should really put some time into that.
>overlevels himself Wat. That's WotStrong and I'm like level 100.
Samuel Bailey
I don't think optimization is really important. The game gives you the opportunity to become flowing water with any weapon given enough experience with it, and you can always supplement that with a good/broken set/weapon. For what it's worth, I needled my way through NG+ and NG++ with the spear, when the game was starting to get really fucking brutal. Struggling mightily then finally beating the final boss in NG++ after coming into some sort of new level trance with the spear was one of the most fucking intense and exhilarating moments I've ever had in a game
Julian Thompson
don't get hit But I think that's a proper level. You might want to get better gear, not necessarily level up more
Owen Moore
oh I'm not op, currently in wotdemon and never bothered with magic other then sloth and guardian talisman but now I'm intrigued
Parker Robinson
It's doable and intended for right after beating the game, he's just Onryoki reborn for people that just beat the game. There's several ways to deal with his damage that don't require levels or equipment.
Colton James
I salute you, fellow spear-bro. I'm on way of the strong currently, and getting my ass handed to me. I'm not that good at these games, but I'm having fun regardless. My gear is pretty good (forgot details, but I looked up some stuff online), so it's basically my skill that's lacking at this point. I'll figure it out eventually.
Jacob Butler
>NEEDING magic >at level 64
You're fucking traaaaaash lmaoooooo
Gavin Johnson
Sloth is actually terrible to use. It's both mindnumbingly boring and develops bad habits, letting people skip actually learning the game so they end up like OP.
Levi Scott
git gud? git gud
Adrian Flores
Everything you've said about the game is something I realised by the time I reached the boat demon boss.
Not sure why you bothered to stick with it this long.
Asher Reed
True, but what the other guy is still true. It IS absolutely busted at NG which is why your statement is also true. It breeds bad habits because it breaks the game, and then at WotS and above it's not that useful anymore, so you get shitcanned. Speaking from experience. Had to re-learn the game at WotS because I relied too heavily on sloth
Nathaniel Martinez
I hate giving up on things, even shitty games. It's the first game I've quit since Mad Max.
Owen James
Moveset wise spear is great but max damage is always going to be iai strike/Sign of the Cross spam where you can just shit out 75k hits by being behind your opponent. Spear's Merciless Barrage grapple is still my favorite move in the game though, I love when you stamina break an enemy with the charge, toss them into the air, Spearfall them while they're on the ground, and then get a final blow grapple in.
Christian Miller
Good luck, spear-kin. The path is long but the way of the spear is straight and true
Samuel Brown
>People being bad at the game blaming the game instead of realising it's just not for them Everytime. Stop blaming games for being bad. Nioh has some issues, but not that.
Michael Anderson
Onryoki first phase casual filter working as intended.
I think I might actually prefer Nioh to Dark Souls 2, but only just. I hate Dark Souls 2 as well.
Jacob Thompson
you mean you've never seen their sweet 360 neckswing grab?
Ethan Gonzalez
>go to headshot soldier with rifle >it's this asshole again hate these fuckers almost as much as the wheel assholes just come out of the yokai mist like a bat out of hell
Ryan Hernandez
> My regular ass human character wearing ancient Japanese armor can't tank hits from 10 ft. tall fucking demons > Demons don't stagger after every fucking hit I land so I actually have to heed their move sets > I'm using my weapon skills wrong > So I resorted to cheesing everything with magic like a fag
Wow, so you're telling me that you haven't mastered the game on your first playthrough, so you gave up and came crying and whining about it on this board?
How many of you faggots actually read what I wrote? The game isn't fucking hard. Jesus fuck you're retarded. If anything needs to "git gud" it's the game because it's a fucking boring piece of shit.
Jeremiah Ramirez
>grapple and final blow builds get nothing on them based attack from behind and yokai damage builds
Tyler Brooks
The only boss I hate for being a damage sponge is Umi-bozu. Goddamn it's predictable but it takes so fucking long to die and sometimes he refuses to use his laser and expose his weak spot
Jace Kelly
not him but you sound like a huge shitter OP.
Cameron Jenkins
You just need to use fire to "git gud" bro. Game takes a lot of skill you know.
Owen Clark
use the fire masks
Jace Williams
imagine being this salty over a video game
Easton Long
It's ok, it's just a build. Why need skill when you can cheat your way through a game?
How did they fuck up a game this bad after they ade ninja gaiden 2?
Bentley King
It's fine, From will show them how to make a proper game when Sekiro comes out.
Eli Carter
It's pretty easy. You still need to git gud. Maybe then you'll realise how foolish you're being. Pro tip, git gud means what it actually says, not what you want it to mean.
Grayson Jackson
So do I just need to wait on the right random weapon or armour dropping or getting far enough so the dojo will let me learn more skills for new moves? I'm doing good, the games punishing me with it's shit systems and for not wanting to cheat with magic.
Michael Rodriguez
Oh I almost forgot, should I stop my progress so I can farm materials to soul match my equipment or reforge?
Noah Green
I finished the game without grinding or anything, using whatever weapons the game was throwing at me.
Lincoln Cook
Nope. You know where your problem is, deal with it.
Levi Bell
>So do I just need to wait on the right random weapon or armour >Oh I almost forgot, should I stop my progress so I can farm materials to soul match my equipment or reforge? I've been telling you since I joined the thread to try Kingo's set or Muneshige's set, and that building a cohesive weapon and armor set is of vital importance in this game.
Christian Smith
Those are all easy mechanics, essential but piss-easy.
>Hit them with high stance to smash their stance and ki >Switch to low stance to dodge or get behind them >Attack from behind or finisher >Repeat
Where is the skill again? Still waiting on those "gitting gud" tips from you pros. >
Aiden Clark
Oh and I forgot to hit R1 with it's fucking huge generous window to ki pulse.
Easton Williams
Have you tried dual katanas? playing trough this for the first time right now and I'm very aggresive. They shred every humanoid 1v1 including bosses, especially when they're defending.
So far I like it alot, feels like a finished game with gameplay as the main focus, somehting that is not so common in this game and age.
Blake Gonzalez
Did you read what I wrote? All of your complaints don't stem from the game being badly designed. They stem from you not understanding shit and sucking.
Put on some decent armor. Use a decent weapon. Level up in accordance with what equipment you're using. Remember, you can respec. Learn when to dodge and block. Learn when to use your stances and skills.
I'm on ng+2 with light armor. And I never fucking use onmyo.
I can't stress how important it is that you use your stances too. If you want to deal big damage, just use high stance when they're open. If you want to play evasive, use low stance. Mix it up with mid.
David Nguyen
if you're not doing damage with your weapons then you're just bad at the game
>that building a cohesive weapon and armor set is of vital importance in this game. Ha ha, don't fucking lie to him. It's fucking NG, just use the highest level purple or blue shit you have.
Gavin Allen
And where am I getting these great weapons and armour while I wait for the RNG to spew them out?
Luke Sanders
I said "the game", not "NG".
Cooper Price
If it's your first playthrough I'd reccomend killing player revenants to get the armor that increases back damage, it's great for improving your DPS.
Jace Walker
If you aren't killing bosses in sub 3 minutes with whatever blue or purple weapon you have on hand (which the game gives out like candy) then it's not the weapon it's you being bad.
He asked for NG advice and you told him to stop and farm for appropriate armor.
Andrew Cruz
It isn't for you then. Nioh's great, user. But if you really did master it by not using magic and beating it, and you still believe it sucks, it just isn't for you. Maybe you should go and play this instead. Seems to be more up your alley.
there's opportunities for pokes, that can be transitioned into quick dodges that in turn can be transitioned into max punish...you can literally deplete enemies and bosses ki by staying in their ass with that goofy nippon steel.
in other words...step your bitch ass game up, lil guy.
Look at mission rewards. Revs drop them. So just keep playing and fighting revs, and you should have something decent to use after a couple missions, most likely more. They don't have to be great. And besides, even a great weapon is dogshit if you can't use it properly. And you don't even understand how Yokai stam gauges work yet. Struggling like this is normal, you're just in the middle of a learning curve.
Carter Jackson
Yeah it gives out blue and purple weapons for every class except for the one you're using which then forces you to soul match instead. Great system. But yes, that's obviously my fault too.
Aiden Powell
is level 200 normal for entering way of the demon
Connor Price
Let's see a video of those amazing combos then or a tutorial
Dominic Clark
>Yeah it gives out blue and purple weapons for every class except for the one you're using There's a reason why it lets you equip two weapons, user. If you're too autistic or too bad to use more than one, it's hardly the game's fault.
Leo Kelly
I agree OP. Nothing feels satisfying to me in this game, it just has the sense of a gimmick from beginning to end.
Grayson Sanchez
Every rev uses a fucking Odachi, I see a Kus user like one in every four hundred revs and then the chances of the weapon dropping and not the armour also takes luck.
Daniel Reyes
>I need a video tutorial for "Always ki pulse with stance change to never run out of ki, always dodge attacks, never stop attacking".
Ryan Turner
it's ok user, this game isnt for everyone, but it most certainly IS for me, it foxez everything I do not like about souls, including the mission structure. adds variety to zones I see often, and I don't have to walk all the way back to the fucking flaming boat if I want to go back there for farming purposes.
so, question. is it possible to just keep re-rolling until I get an elemental damage buff, or is there some way to do that besides just guessing? I saw the poison kusarigama idea earlier and that sounds great, but I dont know how to really _make_ such a thing
Grayson Hughes
Holy shit, THAT is the combo system? I do that all the time, I thought you meant proper combos, fuck me this is getting worse.
Kevin Hall
I'd reccomend at least another 50 levels. There used to be a great amrita farm spot in the area before you fight Maria in the first dlc expansion. Some of the revs in the room you fight eyepatch samurai man in drop like 100x the amrita of normal revs. Idk if you can still farm them though.
Ayden Johnson
>I do that all the time. >Literally said he doesn't in the OP.
Landon Watson
i was hiding my power level to BTFO you later
Ryan Evans
That's cause the kus is really hard to use. Probably the hardest to use weapon type in the game. The odachi's on the opposite side of the spectrum, and is the best and easiest weapon type in the game. It's ok to switch weapon types for now, user. Remember, you can always respec too.
Blake Jones
> I was only pretending to be retarded Sure you were, little guy.
Dylan Garcia
youtube nioh xlh
also there's a reason why you're given the wooden weapons from the dojo missions to play in SP. creates even more of a sponge effect to slap the ever loving shit out of the enemies for longer ass whoopanz.
some basic tips: windows for you to attack vary, the moment may call for just a poke and enemy wind-ups for attacks or tells vary as well. some are quick, some are slow, so pay attention.
the invincibility frames for dodges are the first frames only.
dual swords have a skill to unlock where it adds i-frames to the end of a dodge (helps save your ass on attacks that track and it even adds a cool animation aswell)
to test enemies timing and their move set when you dont know it....stick to low/mid stance and only go for 2 or 3 hits at a time until you got their timing and moveset down. after that it's fair game on that yokai/bandit booty.
Benjamin Perry
i did, before the youtube tuts i was playing this game like a basic bitch, like it was dark souls. watching xlh on youtube, he showed me the way...
Zachary Evans
it's some complex pool shit if you're early game, just select everything you don't want and Reforge till you get an Element Elements are Blue rarity so it might take a lot of tries with regular Materials though
You shouldn’t need magic/ninjutsu except for challenge boss rush side missions because many of them are pure BS on NG+ and higher Kusarigama straight up fuck up human enemies who don’t block (typically heavies) with long range move that pull enemies in. Just spam that and hit them with high stance light and drain hp. For everything else, mid stance heavy attack is extremely good for poke and hit and run. Do your kick harass enemy block to drain Ki. If you really hate long fights due to enemy blocking and being evasive, use dual kat. Dual kat struggle against heavy human enemies though.
Lucas Davis
No matter what it turns out to be, The Mark of the Conqueror in Nioh is significant.
Before I say why I need to divide the Souls community into two general groups - Conquerors and Conquered - and quickly define both.
Both have basically been around since Demon's Souls, but the very nature of the Conquered demands that the Conquerors come first. Why? Because Conquers beat the path and light the way. Afterward, like mold or a rot, the Conquered seep into the community, ever at the heels of the Conquerors.
How is that? Either by a lack of information upon release or due to a self-imposed restriction, the Conqueror goes in blind. Conquerors embrace the challenge From Software has extended with each release in their Souls/Bloodborne Series while the Conquered abhor it. While Conquerors scratched and clawed their way through levels and boss fights, the Conquered poured over FAQs, Strategy Guides, Wiki Articles, Google Search Results, Let's Plays and How to Videos.
Therefore the Conquered subsist by virtue of the illumination spread over From's games by the Conquerors, entirely dependent on it. Overtime they've let themselves forget this, fancying themselves old hands as they bring their borrowed knowledge and tactics to bear on each successive release.
And then here comes fucking Nioh, reminding the Conquered who they really are. And with little to no documentation in sight they hide behind shitposts so they can cling to that "gud" status they worked so hard to attain. Eventually they'll be back. Once the Conquerors have shown the way, that is.
And that's why The Mark of the Conqueror is significant. No matter how superficial, uselessly cosmetic or quickly outclassed it is, it stills says I'm not No, I'm a Conqueror
Brody Peterson
Yikes. The amount of clumsy posts trying to justify this game is hilarious.
James Turner
>Yikes kys cucklord >The amount of clumsy posts trying to justify this game is hilarious. It doesn't need to be justified. This game isn't for average souls faggots that slap on heavy armour + shield and defeat bosses while huffing glue.
ok, thanks user. I invested really early in jutsu, so I should look for stuff that buffs poison damage on my ninja gear then? I'm running a +jutsu build right now and it is super fun
to the soulsfags in this thread, please dont whine and shit up a general for a game only a few people enjoy, please be a faggot somewhere else. you guys have 3 of your epeen games, please let me enjoy the closest thing to a sequel that Throne of Darkness with ever get in peace without demanding they make the sequel exactly like Dark Souls. I LIKE the loot pinatas, mission structure, and goofy bosses
the quick stance dodge animation is more aesthetic when you're on light armor as well, tankcheese is for shit souls.
Xavier Adams
Based and ninjapilled
Juan Collins
Haha yea, this game is pretty shallow compared to NG
William Fisher
did anyone actually figure out how to make builds in this game by themselves or did everyone just copy builds from youtube like me?
it was too complicated for me, especially considering I didn't know what sets even exist in the game.
Colton Murphy
what a coincidence as soon as DMC5 is about to come out people are pretending to be experts on combat
Lincoln Nguyen
I copied mine off of a few ninja revenants and just leaned heavy on jutsu from the get go. looking forward to respeccing into Nodachi though, the YT vids make that look OP
who here felt retarded when they found Onkyomo or whatever the boat demon's blind spot? his son attack killed me for hours until I started hugging his knee and just chopping endlessly
Levi Moore
it's not like people stopped pretending to be experts in combat
Asher Gomez
I made one myself and sticking with it until abyss pushes my shit in.
I use a shit-ton of crit health dmg up buffs + Janome-cho.
Thomas Anderson
it must be good to be smart
Joshua Moore
>it must be good to be smart Nah, I've just got fool's luck
Camden Anderson
how is it fucking complicated and the game has unlimited respecs
Lincoln Smith
You're bad. That's all there is. You're that guy who played Dark Souls 1 by throwing on a long reach weapon and "bait and punishing" and crying about how unengaging it is.
You're choosing to make the combat shit. Play aggressively, ki bully the bosses (you can do this below way of the nioh), etc. You're instead choosing to bait the most reliable, long-window attacks and punishing with one strike before retreating out of range and baiting again.
You're literally just bad. I never, ever say this but GET GOOD YOU FUCKING SCRUB :^)
Ethan Williams
wut
im just light armor, single katana, dual katana, and spear skills unlocked.
Adrian Parker
you literally need to git gud I played the game for over 300 hours and those tactics you describe only apply to perma living weapon data masamune and the other general guy from the dlc that can fucking fly (and they are only perma living weapon mode in the abyss, so everywhere else those guys are a joke)
every other enemy has a shitton of openings all the time and I never use any jutsu or magic, not even skills, just regular attacks
obviously you don't have all day, but even with slow weapons you usually can get in 4 hits on each opportunity
David Gray
if you get yourself a set (build), your damage will be x10000000 higher
Elijah Cook
>that webm if you wouldn't run in like the moron waifu fag you are, you would realize that after each attack he sticks out his tail, so all you need to do is stay out of his attack range and then whack his shit until he attack again
Adam Ortiz
> that webm > the absolute state of odachi waifu-fags
Alexander Anderson
lol ffs the combat is better without it being too over powered
true actually I think I'll replay the game one day without OP builds
Adam Stewart
I once replayed the game /w my friend using Yokai Realm. Many keks and sperg rages were had.
Asher Cook
All I'm seeing is >Bosses do a lot of damage and this makes the game too hard >I have to actually learn boss patterns and this makes the game too hard >I have to then exploit the boss patterns and this makes the game too hard >I can't just button mash and this makes the game too hard >I have to use the abilities the game gives me and this makes the game too hard
Jason James
Nioh is overrated shit and not because of all your shitter complaints.
Its shit because bosses are extremely trivial and boil down to 2 strategies: For humans you just spam ki breaking skills because they always opt to block so you can just spam into them without any retaliation or just parry and then combo them from 100-0. For yokai you just dodge to their back and hit them with your strongest skill or hit their weakspot to break their ki and turn them into a literal punching bag.
Then there's magic, ninjutsu, and living weapon to break the game even further so you never need to actually learn bosses or how to play when you can cheese everything anyway. There's gear min-maxing autism to set stack retarded amounts of damage and effects to gain immunity to every "projectile" in the game which negates 95% of the threats because its actually way more than just arrows and bullets.
The stance system is a huge meme that exists for the sake of a needlessly convoluted input barrier that isn't even hard once you get the muscle memory and over half the skills for each weapon are completely worthless and the few that are worth using are grossly overpowered.
>YIKES YIKES YIKES Are you 10? >Nioh sucks, just deal with it. Care to explain why instead of sperging out?
Evan Wilson
the experience for me was some bosses while can kill in one shot use sloth and gg this game with sloth talisman is toddler difficulty without it specially for people like me that cant "git gud" is waaay harder than the dark souls saga , this game ripped me a new hole the first time i played died like 30 or 40 times to onryoky checked some youtube tutorials and beat it but that was every boss until i lear "sloth" this game is way more consuming than any soul i like that but waaay harder for people with mediocre gaming skills
Wyatt Young
cool, thanks. one more question, any idea what the weak spot is for the ice ladies? I just cheese them with low stance flurries, it feels like blasting them in the head with yokai arrows is effective but is there another way?
also, shoutout to whoever is cosplaying as the axe revenant, I dont normally approve of spin to win but he was in character at least
Jaxson Cox
Do you mean the yokai that attack with cloth? They don't have a specific weakspot like the oni, but they're very slow, stay in close to negate their range and pay attention to when they try to dodge upwards. Their Ki broken behaviour is similar to humans but like yokai you can keep attacking instead of going for a human style combo to keep them down and do heavy damage.
Nolan Phillips
>not posting peak xlh >the final part of the vid when he's fighting a raven on hardest difficulty youtube.com/watch?v=b7yMhSCL9ug
Jose Rodriguez
Some yokai don’t have weak spots per se. Raven Tengus in particular. Flying Bolts don’t have hyper armor, so their weakness is spamming into them and watching for the downwards cloth attack.
Asher Russell
those are the ones. thanks user! thanks for not shitting up a nioh thread too, I love this game and I want to talk about it, just not with Reddit.
>want to play Nioh more since I still haven't finished the DLC >controller analogue stick is fucked up and makes William stop and stutter constantly while running
The game isn't punishing me for playing that way and hasn't taught me to play another way (mostly because it has next to no tutorials) so it can go fuck itself in it's boring ass :^)
Josiah Butler
How can something look like it should be exciting and yet still be so fucking boring?
Zachary Howard
blow into the ballsack of the analog stick, seriously. try to get air into/under the analog stick.
Nolan Campbell
The game gives you so much to experiment with, yet all you've done is complain how boring it is. Magic and Ninjutsu are an important part of the game, but they're not crunches. You need to do all the work yourself. Go for a different spec and try out different ways to play.
Hunter Murphy
Here's a comfy thread.
Let soulfags seethe in here.
Charles Taylor
git gud fag

git gud scrub
Gavin Davis
I wasn't the same guy from before but you're very welcome. I could talk about this game for hours. Also not him but I've actually had the same issue, I don't know if it worked and now I feel dirty but thanks. My dpad and buttons have had trouble registering too which fucks up my instant sheathing, I might try it there too.
Cooper Jenkins
bruh, I just started a new playthrough and beat him in
Xavier Perez
dpad and button issues you would have to open up the controller and get some compressed air on the sensors. for the analog sticks you can just blow into the ballsack. i literally have to do this every time i turn my controller on.
Asher Cooper
Yeah that's what I thought. It's only once in a while though and even the analog stick only has problems with one direction. Too much Nioh.
