How do iframes make you feel?

never played a dark souls game because every time i look at it, i can't help but think about how bad all the animations look. I watched DSP play this game recently and the animations are really fucking generic and clunky looking, especially the running animation. Also, I hate how the exact same sound file plays every time you do the same action. No variation at all in the sound, it's pretty jarring

Yeah the games are really overrated you're not missing out on much by skipping these games

all very valid points honestly
still worth it to play but you do you

I've experienced them in dark souls and tera online, I loved them in both games and make you feel like a badass. You can avoid almost every attack if you have good timing.

i dont think anyone actually unironically plays dark souls

its just shilling / memes

What a retarded thing to say

not even worth replying to any of you

This is legitmately the dumbest post I've ever seen on this website.

Invincible.

lol all of those scrubstains

This but instead of dark souls insert shitty VN game or Fire Emblem.

the series is genuine jank but somehow gets the same treatment and polished AAA games. it's fucking bizarre.

At least in Monster Hunter you need a specialized build to have high i-frames.
Dark souls is such a boring fest after first playthrough, no challenge or surprises, no extra contents. It's garbage.

Nothing wrong with them. Dark Souls isn't the best example, but they reward timing over just button-mashing your way to victory.

>dark souls is jank
You don't even know what jank is, user. Go play Severance, Elex or Technomancer and you'll know jank.
Dark Souls is fine since the controls themselves are responsive enough. The animations are average but it's nowhere near jank unless you're a contrarian zoomer.

It got popular because "GAME HARD GAME HARD", except it isn't even hard, just unforgiving. And even then it's only unforgiving if you've never played a video game before in your life.

I actually really enjoy the DS series and play them more than any game. I can’t stand new games now because I do t want to watch 45 minutes of cutscenes with a 30 minute tutorial level just to start a new game.

If you want complaints about "jank" go ask any MH Worldbaby to play a previous MH.

But all of the Monhun games before World were completely unplayable shit?
>handheld MH
Absolute trash of the trash.

This. I tried several games and couldn't stomach it. World actually isn't bad by comparison.

worldbabby here. I'm really enjoying 4U

they're only bad at the start where you are forced to do 200 bullshit quests in a row

But a lot of the shitboxes/etc are actually worse in world. It's just less noticable because its ~faster~
>Das Bait.
consume clorox.

Timed iframes are not bad as long as game is designed around them, and as long as you can't spam dodge to be constantly invincible.
That said, every action game having iframes would be boring, it's more of interesting alteration to play style.

>Go play Severance
Yeah except it's a good game with fun mechanics and dedication.
You can't beat enemies with their own limbs in Dark Souls.

I don't like them. I feel japs use them as a lazy crutch solution for the implementation flaws and imbalance in their gameplay designs.

It makes me feel terrible thinking souls is still more popular than nioh. Look at that god awful combat and infinite iframes.

Indeed, yet I never implied any of the ones I listed were explicitly bad games. They're just jank and if you can get over the jank, you might like them.

Gives devs more freedom to spice up enemy attacks and give them interesting combos. Without iframes no enemy would have an attack with a shorter wind up than the player character's fastest evasive manoeuvre or else it would end up being flat out unfair or a boring game where you just block and attack over and over again. Iframes let enemies break that rule and do some fucking mental attacks without it being unfair.

>let me just watch my favorite streamer and-
Stopped reading there. Cringe.

yeah Ive tried to play it and I hate how clunky it feels. Sure, thats part of why people like it, that you have to be careful with your moves since you are stuck in animation forever, but I prefer games where they give you control. Shit like DMC or NG where you can break off animations or the animations are short enough to allow you to respond to threats feel a lot better.

>infinite iframes.

>gameplay revolves around technical aspect of video frame rendering solutions
Is this a hallmark of good game design?

good man
but it depends on the game
as a general rule, a dodge/parry should be more rewarding than just blocking, and the easiest way to do so is to add iframes
generally speaking, iframes are needed in some games for fun purposes, like avoiding getting hit in the middle of cutscene finishers

you could say the same about MH tho, once you learn the monster moveset they just turn into damage sponges, and other than monster, except for world, MH doesn't really have anything else to offer unless you're one of those weirdos that enjoys collecting items or carrying eggs

The only worthwhile reply in this thread

this is an 18+ board

i'm an old MH fag and the games ARE janky
pic related is probably the peak of "fuck you that hitbox makes no sense"

shout out to the rathalos family for turning into fucking magnets against the laws of physics

good

They make me feel all warm and toasty inside like big ol' hug.

i sure hope so, the games are dogshit

iFrames are fine if they're tight. I'd rather have iFrames than painfully sculpted hitboxes

Simple fart noises make more sense than your retarded post.

iframes are lame as fuckkkkkkkkkkkk
Need more games where if the attack connects visually it actually connects.

(You)
>all these (You)s
9/11 bait

Enemies would have to have pretty boring movesets, and how would you deal with the massive monstrosity bosses where iframes are the only way to make the fight actually work without massively toning down the fight or it being insanely unfair?

>People born in 2001 can browse Yea Forums
>These people where 9 years old when demon souls came out

Attached: AAAAAHHHAAHAH.jpg (923x771, 52K)

I'd like to push your button as well

It obv wouldnt work in dork souls cause the game was designed around iframes. But games like mountain blade where when a sword connects it actually connects do it just fine.

>I don't have an argument
Okay, retard.

sad, it just means combat system is terrible

Underrated as fuck

I thought this way too, I think a select few actually play it, like touhoufags

dark souls is just something people pretend to have played, i think most people just die a couple times and quit. youd have to be really fucking good to beat it after all
