Judging by Atlus's history with the series it's gonna be an enhanced version of Persona 5 for PS4 with a visual upgrade, more demons, more SLinks, new playable character, more time to do everything, potentially a new ending and extra dungeon.

Given her current story yes. But Its safe to assume anyone who does become a thief is going to have more added to their story. Personally I think its more likely they will just straight up add a character though like in DSJ and Golden.

Hifumi was an earlier concept for Makoto that they decided to make a confidant. She was never meant to be a member. And Shiho would be a better thief anyways.

I don't know why anyone expects or wants an existing Confidant to be made playable. They'd have to do a big re-work for whatever character that is when they're already made to be and well suited to being a Confidant, not a party member. They already have enough trouble giving each party member an appropriate amount of screentime as is on top of it, they don't need to throw yet another in there.

I think redeeming Goro somewhat would serve more of a purpose than their attempts to redeem Adachi after P4, which they obviously just did because people liked him, but for P5 it could at least serve some thematic purpose and it could be an easy avenue towards giving some more playtime in the game seeing as Goro could go to jail in place of Joker, but I would still be more or less fine if they treated Goro the way they went on to treat Adachi, aside from him leaving prison to go do stuff afterwards. Goro should stay in jail.

Yes, he fucking did. After the Shadow Sae boss battle you're greeted by multiple cutscenes. In one of them Akechi calls Shido to confirm the betrayal and he utters the line "If that woman had been cooperative, she wouldn't had to die" in reference to how both of them got started on their killing spree and the wonders of the Metaverse. That was Akechi 100% referencing Wakaba's death and him being personally responsible for killing her, he went into her palace and killed her shadow. Akechi didn't know until Joker's gang that Shadows can be "reformed" and dealt without being killed, it was a shock to him.

Akechi gets Persona powers --> Kills Wakaba's Shadow --> Wakaba dies later. It's his fault and he's the hitman for that death. I don't blame you because there's a lot of cutscenes after the Casino Palace ends. There's a lot of editing that needs to be done to the script way before LMAO XD GAY ROMANCE AND FEMALE JOKER get added but let trannies from ResetEra jerk off to their wishlist.

Again, you know Atlus can change more than one thing? And fundamentally changing major story elements is a lot harder than adding new romance options? It's not a boogeyman conspiracy that people have their expectations in check.

It is fucked up, but I can still accept them making him have the opportunity to make up for what he did considering the PTs still can sympathize with him and he is an example of what they all spend the whole game fighting against. I wouldn't want them to make it out like that makes it so what he did isn't his fault or that he should be totally forgiven, but I can accept them having enough sympathy for that that they would allow him the opportunity to try to atone for it, especially when the ways that he would do that, helping to take down Shido and taking the fall for Joker, would be really helpful to them anyway. I wouldn't want them to change that he killed Futaba's and Haru's mother and father though, he should still be a bad person and I think it would be kind of cheap if they tried to make his crimes less severe so people would like him more or be more open to forgiving him.

Anecdotal, and there's bound to be a ton of confirmation bias there, since there's plenty of motivation to overstate issues and cause drama.

And I forgot nail in the fact that only Akechi can go into the Metaverse and deal with Shadows. Wakaba died from her Shadow being killed in her Palace. Prior to Joker and the Phantom Thieves, only Akechi could go into Palaces and use the Metaverse. Not even Shido could do it or his henchmen. Both the timeline and the suspect capable of entering the Metaverse point to Akechi, as if his lines wasn't obvious enough that he wouldn't had killed "that woman" had she cooperated in giving up their research.
