The thing is that build engine games are only still remembered due to their style, the gameplay doesn't mesh with the current tastes of "gamers". Like it or not, no one is playing Blood or Shadow Warrior or anything like it and no one wants to. They remember Lo Wang and Dick Kickem, though, and the humor in those games. Ion Maiden is tame and the developers are whiny bitches, at least according to some comments they have made on steam threads and reviews, so I do not expect any sort of interesting setting in this game to prop up the stale gameplay.

Ion Maiden is a EA game with 4-5 levels who's only interesting to and only promoted by people who liked Duck Fuckem and other Build games.
Being like Duke Nukem isn't a great selling point to zoomers and others who only think of DNF when they hear that. There is no way IM can compete with Subnautica.

Dusk is more in line with Quake than build engine games. Good game, but multiplayer is dead. Kinda easy, too. I liked the ending a lot, though.

There's barely any levels to Ion Maiden right now, it's more like a demo. I've finished what's there in a couple hours and am now waiting on the full release.
There's a bunch of things that could be improved on, but over all it's still a fun game.
