make a custom character and party up with AI origin characters

As neat as origin characters are, they often railroad you into certain choices. I'd suggest custom character first time through, then pick origin character on subsequent play.

Pick an origin character

Allow me to make your game 10x better: Ditch the fucking Lizard ASAP. Don't even talk to him after you get off the boat.

Origin has custom story lines that you will miss out on if they arent in your party. Its up to you but I'd have as many origin characters as I can.

Why?

I didn't like him to begin with but he grew on me.

I played with a custom character and origin companion first time around, currently doing a second playthrough using just the origin characters. You get more roleplay freedom with a custom character.

I did custom with Red Prince/Ifan/Fane.
Fuck you, Red Prince is a bro.

Cringe and bluepilled

Currently doing my first run through the Definitive Edition but in the original one my Donut Steel OC basically got no ending I became divine and the game asked me to basically make up my own ending. I can't imagine they really could change that for the DE but it's something to be aware of if you care about it.

origin characters have all the dialog of oc + their own
no reason not to

Just play with origin characters. You can respec later.

He's an annoying bitch about everything and constantly talks down to everyone. It was funny at first, but I traded him for the dwarf as soon as I found him because of how constant it was. Snobs are only fun when they're girls.

Any advice on what classes to pick in the first game? I'm really indecisive when it comes to rpgs..

Play the game multiple times. Even if you try you can't 100% in one go.

Origin character, without a doubt. You are offered unique choices with origin characters that you wouldn't be offered when playing with a custom character. Also, if you're into getting achievements, there are many related to the storylines of the origin characters, which you can only earn by playing as them.

I'LL KILL YOUR SHINING LIGHTS

Don't take fane the first time 'cause he'll spoiler things.
Lohse has a nice extra part at the end.

This makes me autistically frustrated.

A lot of people saying to do custom but I'd recommend Origin because with the way the tag system works playing without an Origin tag makes you really generic. Good for roleplay but if you're going in for the story you would be better off playing as an Origin. Probably shouldn't pick Fane because he kind of has a lot of shit to digest early on. Everybody else is a pretty safe bet.

for Lhose as the MC how fun is the Andromalik wins ending? Can you naturally transition into being edgier over time?

>BY THE HAZING OF THE SHADE I'LL KILL YOUR SHINIG LIGHTS!
for a mage only run, she was such a pain to deal with
Also, magic skills are broken as always, worm tremor+torturer O fucking P

I know. Me too so i will be replaying the game again in a few months. This game and TW3 when put together are making me spend like 600 hours on single player games.

And i just started Pathfinder... If Cyberpunk 2077 comes out this year my head will explode.

Origin characters have more story and lore. I enjoyed playing through the game as the Red Prince.

I'm really looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077.

I highly recommend playing this with a couple friends from start to finish. Two old homies of mine and I played through this in a couple of months and had a fucking blast. It's crazy how much freedom there is to fuck shit up in this game. I played the Red lizard dude btw. Pyromancer. If you like fire, play that

I started my first playthrough yesterday as the lizard prince, how fucked am i? Also i skipped D:OS1

>Probably shouldn't pick Fane because he kind of has a lot of shit to digest early on. Everybody else is a pretty safe bet
My friend played Fane and lowkey spoiled the story for the rest of us. He also built his character to be craaazy OP, and like the autistic bastard he is he became incredibly drunk on power and started doing dumb shit just because we couldn't stop him...

10/10

Attached: 1550563142277.jpg (697x454, 98K)

how do you deal with your friends going off and doing their own shit and when you catch up you have no idea whats going on

I love and hate the combat system, the foundation is nice but gimping split builds that hard fucking sucks.

want to play this game. should i play the first one first? are gameplays good of both?

It's all garbage as far as dialogue and story goes. Might as well go with the horrible OC characters so you get more horribly written content to cringe at.

Attached: EoCApp.jpg (1118x417, 101K)

NPCs will go through their normal dialogue tree when you speak to them as another character. It's just quest progress that gets shared. For example for the quest about becoming "The One" they mean it literally so whoever completes that will be the One while the other characters will get normal dialog.

Also talking with your friend and keeping together would be ideal, except when they decide to lie for their own gains :)

God I wish I had friends that actually spend money on PC games instead of just playing LoL.

We played everything together from start to finish. That's why it took several months lol

The first one with Epic Encounters mod installed is infinitely better than the shitpile that is the second. Just download the version without the inflated HP so combat remains challenging but doesn't make every single fight a drawn out hour long affair.

I am just playing on normal mode. Not far in but is every fight meant to be a struggle to get through in the early game?!

technically "the first one" is not what you mean and yes, Divine Divinity is great. Original Sin 1 is good too.

>God I wish I had friends that actually spend money on PC games instead of just playing LoL.
This game has no DRM

I didn't have any difficulties for a very long time playing OS2.

Lately we've been getting some awesome RPGs. Bioware may be dead but Larian and CDPR are making incredible games.

>God I wish I had friends that actually spend money on PC games instead of just playing LoL.
U made me feel lucky, thx user. Almost all of my gamer friends play on PC and 5 of them have Oculus Rifts and I've got Vive

Attached: 1549436574262.jpg (124x126, 3K)

Same I play DotA with them too but it's like they don't have the attention span to play a rpg. The furthest I've got with my friend is 6 hours in OS1

You must be doing something wrong.

>tfw love this game but didnt like the lizard or the skeleton

Ifan, Sebille and other woman are alright.
Cant say anything about the dwarf cuz I didnt even put him in a party.
I think they tried too hard with Red Prince's dialogues.

Origin character. You can customize them just like an origin character and they get the same dialogue choices plus extra origin-specific choices that you have the option of choosing or ignoring every time. There's no downside.

Stop playing liberal games

Trompdoy is unironically a good guy.

even better, let the lizard die on the ship

He has nothing to do with Trump. Are you retarded?

>brainlets actually think trompdoy is a badguy

I usually rush through dialog if i feel like shit`s not that important. Especially when i`m talking to my companions, like they have a LOT to say to you and i`m not gonna listen to everything ok. At one point in the game i got a dialog option to compliment Dwarf`s beard. So i did and 1 min later he was fucking my archer boy in the ass. For some reason i didn`t expect it to be a romance starter and the game didn`t allow me to back off.
Also, why did that lizard girl prostitute was so wet when i send my undead guy to fuck her? Was it a meme from a developer, that a dickless creature is the biggest Chad in this universe?

>red ligger betrays me at the lunar temple
>kill him during the trial
>consume his soul on the ship
>never see his stupd ass anymore

>kill literally everyone
>consume all souls
good game

Red Prince is the best character. Followed by Fane. The rest not so much

Played on hard difficulty on my first playthrough. Was struggling a lot, but you actually learn a lot about combat system just by looking at whatever enemy is doing. As far as i know difficulty here affects AI and lands some better spells to your enemies so you are actually missing out on some cool shit.

You are too braindead and think that everything is about you and your amerilard president.

Will Larian ever make dlc for dos2?

I dont think there are any plans

I highly doubt this means what you think it means. Even then he's a villain.

>tfw undead
>tfw act 3 gives you so much deathfog
Guess who just gased the lizard queen?

You should delete it and download Pathfinder Kingmaker instead, the Varnhold DLC is out

Played as custom, met the Red Prince 1 minute in and decided to start over as the Red Prince, never looked back.

Origin 100%.
They just give you additional options and content, literally no reason to ever play custom.

Pretty sure you can still get them if they're just in your party and you complete their questline

Just finished my first playthru after the third try at this game. First two tries i used a custom with origin party members but this time i mained an origin. I was fane and i had Ifan, Lohse and the Red Prince. I think playing Fane was great since he's very important to the main plot. As far as companions go, Ifan is probably the second in terms of main plot importance and Lohse a Cute. The other 3 are very secondary in my opinion, only matter for what race you want to influence the most in your choices

Custom character.

All the Origin characters are much better experiences as companions.

Split damage parties work fine even on Tactician. You just can't make split damage characters

>literally no reason to ever play custom.
No Origin male elf, female dwarf, female lizard, or female skeleton. The Origin characters miss out on several personality tag combos, and the Custom character gets one of the best Source abilities in the game.

There are very valid reasons to play a Custom character over an Origin one.

But Tavern fight is good too.

Didn't that game come out like a month ago? Why is there already DLC?

Origin characters get a few more snippets than custom ones, but anyone but Beast or Ifan is absolutely insufferable and they also limit your RP choices since there's no reason not to pick their own unique choices (when there are some).
Most of them also don't have any real actual unique content, there's very little that Ifan or Beast get as MCs that you can't get with them as party members, and they're honestly more endearing as such rather than MC, Lohse's virtually the same as a party member too though iirc her ending is a bit different if you choose her as MC, RP has actually something relevant as MC since his story with Sadha gets noticeable extra bits, but that's pretty much it, at least he's not as grating as a party member though, Sebille is similar.
Fane is the writer's pet and possibly the most important and relevant character in the game so it's best played as MC, especially because he's by far the most grating party member, and unlike RP who mellows out a bit the more you progress Fane is grating for ALL the game, playing Fane as MC makes him a lot more bearable since he will shut up most of the time and won't make you suffer through his autistic skeleton antics.

sauce fag

I made it up, but considering how well the game did I'd expect something like that

Also, playing as fane gives you a twist on the God King ending that is very interesting if you want to roleplay it like that.

10/10 bait, made me reply

Attached: cannotbeanger.jpg (680x794, 227K)

Since this is the only cRPG thread right now. Is baldurs gate 2 good? And can I play it without playing one. OS2 is the only cRPG I've played. Friend gifted this to me for my birthday

imo it doesn't make much of a difference.
The only origin character that gives you much more insight behind the scenes is fane, everyone else is just a custom character with a premade name.

First one is more unique and a hell of a lot clunkier. It also drops like a fucking rock in quality after act 1. They're both good games, you might be turned off by the lack of QoL if you start with 1, or you might be unable to go back to 1 after you're used to it. There's no right way and in terms of story it really doesn't matter one fucking iota which order you play them in.

They're more likely to just make another game rather than an expansion

>for a mage only run, she was such a pain to deal with
Not really, you just teleport her to Jahan and be done with it, or just cast living on the edge to survive her first turn and then proceed through the fight as any standard battle.
Alice might be that one fight in Act 2 that you can't cheese with lava, but there's plenty of ways to cheese her nonetheless, the worst thing is that D:OS2 actively encourages you to do so because Tactician gives the enemies so many unfair buffs it would be retarded to play their game and just wait until you've evened out the massive statistical disparity that bottlenecks you into the same single strategy every time.

It's great and you don't need to play one but it's nice to carry your character over and continue the story.
If you've only played OS2 there might be a bit of a learning curve but give it a chance and try find a copy of the manual

That's possible, but unless it's Original Sin 3 that stays roughly in the same time period it would feel like a waste. I thought OS2 spread itself super thin in the lore department. There's more races and locations than they had time to deal with properly.

Yea playing it right now. Jeez there's a fuck ton of classes

I can't decide whether I cheesed that encounter or outsmarted her in a legitimate way
>Cast spell that makes you unable to die before entering combat on Lohse
>Teleport the witch on the beach below
>OC fighter and Red Prince are here and waiting
>Pounce on her until she's knocked down
>Ifan way above on the cliff getting obscene bonus damages and knocking arrow
>Lohse with 1 HP healing herself up and throwing spells from above
>Spend the whole encounter knocking her down every turn until she died

I expect them to just make the next one Divinity 3 and continue the Damien plot. It might be weird to the new Original Sin audience (which is huge) but I feel they could pull it off considering how OS2 plops itself between DD and D2

There’s no shame in cheesing because the ai “cheats”
>teleport/reposition spells that is only available to the ai
>they constantly do it to fuck you over and can do it before you learn teleport or any of the marksman/rogue reposition skills so your squishies are fucked trying to run away instead of fighting
>once you learn reposition spells fights become piss easy because the ai realizes it’s only advantage is gone and tries to run away only to die
Didn’t explain it well but that sort of thing was so frustrating when first starting out on the prison island

The AI doesn't cheat with teleports, if it couldn't teleport it would be completely harmless, it cheats with rigged AP pools, rigged AP cost and scripted initiative or unique, permanent buffs, teleports are the least of your problems because you have more, a single lone wolf can cast five teleport skills in a row and mobility frankly doesn't matter in D:OS because the general meta is as braindead as it gets.

>playing on tactician
>with friends
>get off the island
>run into some executioner, need to kill him to save a dirty lizard
>spawns 4 more guys and for some reason they all have 95% evasion
>also, they aggroed the guards a mile away at the entrance to the town

This is dumb.

That's outsmarting her legitimately, most people just drag her over to Jahan and let him deal with her

Ninye has a permanent mass Uncanny Evasion buff on Tactician, you need to use spells since they bypass evasion or teleport her away from the rest to disable her AoE buff.

I kinda wanna coop play this game with my younger sister because it seems like it would be fun.
Already played through it alone 1.5 times.
Should we go Lone Wolf which is basically cheating or should we do normal 4 player party? Seems kinda awkward to control 2 characters each

Do lone wolf on explorer. This game falls apart in multiplayer.

>one of the best Source abilities in the game
If you care about this then you're always going skelly boi anyway.

Do lone wolf on tactician because you might as well watch a youtube video if you're LW on any other difficulty.

Post pics of her feet, that will help us decide

Dome of Protection is far more versatile and overall useful than Fane's time warp, especially on tactician.

Did they remove that stupid fucking armor system?

I won't touch this shit until they get rid of ti.

you can mod it

imagine being this retarded

I made the mistake of playing LW on the normal difficulty. You get so bored from one shotting everything, avoid at all costs. I even played completely solo despite the fact that you're allowed one partner. Still extremly easy.

I know there's a mod that reduces the amount of armor enemies have while bumping their health up

When I first played this game and stepped on a trap, only for my armor to take like 5% damage and keep regenerating I knew it had to be a bug or something because no one would be so retarded to implement a system that goes completely against every other part of the combat system in their game.

But no, apparently the devs in charge of combat at Larian are completely fucking retarded and have absolutely no clue of what they're doing, I have never, ever seen such a dumb fucking mechanic in an RPG, ever.

any mods to fix the clipping the Defintive Edition has going on caused by the new physics system?

>Did they remove that stupid fucking armor system?
>Remove Armor system
>Now the game is even more braindead since statuses proc instantly
Not even Larian is so fucking stupid.
>only for my armor to take like 5% damage and keep regenerating
Fake news, armor doesn't regenerate until damage cooldown expires.

Rude

Yeah I think Lone Wolf on Tactician is a decent choice. Especially since I know how to cheese and shes probably going to do some meme build

thats because lone wolf is pretty much easy mode you idiot. Setting it on normal with lone wolf is overkill

Didnt they nerf lone wolf in the definitive edition?

Lone wolf is actually pretty fun in many fights that are usually stupid boring with a full party, it does force you to change your pacing a bit.
Though I don't really use it anymore since the wolf pack mod is a thing, I don't like how your points automatically double instead of allowing you to spread them more evenly. and the wolf pack mod allows me to do exactly that.

Yes, DE makes LW unable to go through hard caps without equipment boost, that means your stats can't go over 40 and your skills can't go over 10.
They nerf Lone Wolf with ech OS release, it was even more broken in D:OS1.

Yes. Lone Wolf/Glass Cannon both aren't as good as they used to be or the first game.
Origin characters get you access to an extra quest per character but its fine to just have your main guy be a custom. You don't lose much.

If there is something I dislike, its the few fights that seem so fucking obnoxious or spiked super hard that me and friends ended up cheesing them. The oilyard fight is super annoying, and saving that guy with his braindead AI seems only possible by forcing him into a position where he cannot move.

The other one is the fight against the Doctor, level 20 and that fight just seems super annoying if you fight it the "right" way.

The game doesn't teally make that clear at all. I and probably most people that read it for the first time would think that it's hard mode since you are allowed less party members.

Yeah, the basic battle design is decent but the actual encounter design is all over the place with things that are obnoxious rather than tactical, and encourage the cheese.

They actually expanded and opened multiple new studios after DOS2. There's a lot in the works.

>bonus ability and skill points
>quadratic+ scaling
how do I used brian

You telling me I'll get to see both a mainline entry and more of their weird experimental shit?

We beat the Doctor by leaving one guy near the front door and having everyone else kill the nurses or spawned in adds ASAP and get out of combat range thus resetting the fight. We did it over and over until only the boss remained, and we easily defeated it

Some fights just have a big guy or enemies that nuke all your armor in one hit and you get by a ton of status effects. Doesn't help Initiative is pretty shit in OS2 compared to the first game

I felt like this with a chunk of Act 4 fights but then again it was my first run and everything was pretty sub-optimal.

Who knows. But they opened three new studios in 2017. Before that they had just one.

oh baby

It's legit. I think that preparing a fight like this would just be called strategy by the devs instead of cheesing since you need to know what works really well

Abusing the oversight of buffing people during dialogue prompt isn't something that works really well, it's simply abusing a mechanical oversight and you can do that as early as entering fort joy and using your Deathfog barrel on Dallis, and I'm pretty sure Larian was aware of that too since literally all of the major fights can be ludicrously cheesed that way, not to mention that buffing the character who initiates the dialogue freezes their cooldown bar until the actual fight is initialized.
Running away after potshotting single targets to death and then deal with the rest by restarting a battle is also another thing they should have taken care of by actually designing interesting fights instead of just making everyone a steamroller that forces you to progress in one way through the game and/or abuse the same tired strategy every time, thus limiting your party composition and roleplaying.
And this is without considering other stupid bullshit like lava, but then again, most RPGs are like that, it's just that in D:OS case it's a lot more noticeable than usual and ruins what could have been a much better overall package.

play on normal with origin characters and finish for storyline
Play on hardest with ai chars for maximum min/max fun

>Shyguy9
Why does he has to have a Vore fetish?

>Ifan way above on the cliff getting obscene bonus damages and knocking arrow
There are some encounters where you can leave an archer on a spot where he's so far away from the action that shooting at the enemies won't even force him enter the fight, letting you keep take "infinite turns". Like the Mordus fight. Or the fight on the other side of the bridge at the start of act 2.

Probably this. Getting to know the storylines is pretty cool and gives you a feeling of completion.
And after that you crank up the difficulty so the game feels fresh again because the enemies will pull new tricks on you and are in general smarter

Barrel explosion damage is hard capped so don't even bother, just use them to coat something in oil or water but don't even assume you can use them aggressively as you'd do in D:OS1, later on Scoundrel does get a skill that lets them lay mines though, which is passable, were it not for the fact that every other skill availabe doesn't need one turn to actually activate like setting traps, but still, if you want to roleplay as a pyro thief it's a decent choice.
