I've never played Skyrim and I desperately need something to play for the next few weeks in order to forget how shitty my life currently is. Good choice?
Also, feel free to recommend me something else. Only have an Xbone though, so it's multiplat or bust at this point.
same dude. I wish I could go back and play it for the very first time again
Nathaniel Walker
>in order to forget how shitty my life currently is i've been playing skyrim for the first time recently for this exactly reason. i can tell you user it's maybe not the best game in the world, but for that purpose its been pretty good.
Carter Brooks
#1, don't use exploits, it gets super fucking boring, no one cares you used alchemy and enchanting to make gear that one shots everything #2, don't follow the map markers, most places are quest related, and don't climb up cliffs to follow them, follow the roads, the devs always put intended paths #3, stealth archer is meta, but stealth archer is boring as fuck #4, magic only is pretty bad, you carry less, run slower, and DPS is low; if you want a good magic RPG then do Dark Messiah #5, followers are the best meatshields, and they only die if you hit them after they're on the ground #6, if you hold a torch and a one hand weapon (or spell), sprint till stamina is gone, put the weapon away, then sprint and hold it down, you sprint for free until you stop #7, Vegetable Soup utterly breaks the stamina system, infinite block/bash/power attacks

Xbox one huh?
Rare Replay. It’s $30 and you get 30 games over half of which are masterpieces. Banjo-Kazooie and tooie are the best platformer maybe ever, Nuts and Bolts is pure autismo vehicle building and physics puzzles, Viva Piñata is a great animal crossing X Pokémon type game (Trouble in Paradise is Viva Piñata 2 which is more like an expansion on the original so just play that) Ghoulies is fun but simple, Perfect dark has never played better, Conker’s Bad Fur Day is genuinely hilarious, I’ve heard good things about Kameo, Battletoads NES and aArcade
Idk user rare replay is the only reason I’d ever buy an Xbox one and I’m hoping the new Xbox Nintendo deal leads to a port of it for the Switch. It’s super cheap used I think so if you wanna sink some time in a lot of masterpieces and hidden gems there you go that’s a good time
hope things get better for you user, life really can be a piece of shit
Christian Williams
It's a shit RPG but literally the greatest time sink game ever created

Vanilla game aged horribly, both in terms of mechanics and graphics. Sorry but you missed the window to truly appreciate this game. You'll most likely quit before you even unlock the blades
Jaxon Rogers
I know many People on Yea Forums don't like the game, but I think it still holds up. The scenery can really Beautiful and the Music is fun and Relaxing. I'm also doing a vanilla playthrough right now on the switch. Have fun OP!
I don't think it aged horribly at all, sure the graphics are a bit outdated but it's not that bad, the special edition gets better graphics anyway
Also how can mechanics from a 2011 game age badly
Dylan Campbell
>I know many People on Yea Forums don't like the game, but I think it still holds up.
It holds up just fine but it's still a game with many great things about while also having deep flaws.
Nathan Sanders
It never had any good mechanics anyways. Combat is a joke. Might as well get a mod that increases cinematic kills. Only entertaining thing about it. Or just go stealth
Jordan Gonzalez
Just get that Sky UI and inventory mod. Play rest of game vanilla.
Or play Enderal
Liam Rodriguez
If anything it'll make you even more depressed realizing that people actually like this garbage game.
Ryder Sanchez
Oh Xbox One. Yeah, no. The game is gonna be a slog for you imo. PC is best version for the mods
Landon Gutierrez
I completely agree with you. It's just that whenever I visit an Elder Scrolls Thread I see people shit on the game left and right like it is some unplayable abomination that destroyed the series. I feel like people forget to see the bigger Picture. I could probably fill two pages with things i dislike about the game, but in the end it's still one of the most fun games I have ever played.
>It's just that whenever I visit an Elder Scrolls Thread I see people shit on the game left and right like it is some unplayable abomination that destroyed the series. Board culture. Don't pay attention to it.
James Hernandez
>don't use exploits >suggests the sprinting exploit
Mason Reed
If nothing else, the music in this game is GOAT potential
Michael Hall
There's so many "exploits" in this game it's hilarious the whole thing was practically designed to be abused
Julian Perez
The combat was shit for sure but it wasn't annoying, in fact I liked how simple it was, if I wanted to play a good challenging combat game I would play DS
I mainly played skyrim for the atmosphere and exploration, the main quest sucked dick but at least I got away from life like OP wants
Eli Ross
You are probably right. I often see the same thing happening with the Witcher 3, when I think about it.
it happens with everything - even RE4 is now considered bad by board culture, it's obnoxious.
Anyways as others have said TES games are always best when experienced brand new. The seams really show up on multiple playthroughs but on that golden first one it's just magic.
if you want to check out some story mods once you've got your way past vanilla content, VIGILANT, Beyond Reach, and Beyond Skyrim Bruma are a good place to start. There's a ton of good shit.
if you want good comfy followers, INIGO is considered the gold standard but Lucien is getting up there. Song of the green has a Bosmer follower called Auri who sounds like Leliana from DA so if you liked her voice get her too.
Hunter Sanders
Yes play it now op you will be immersed for the next month and want to play every waking hour get off 4can and do it NOW!!!!!!
You should really play it once you find the time for it. It's not something for repeated playthroughs in my opinion, but it's a real treat if you can enjoy videogames for the characters and Story. The DLC is also extremely good and fair priced.
>spoilers you mean like when geralt doesnt announce he is avoiding spoilers on Yea Forums, risking others being a dick and ruining the game out of pettiness?
Julian Wilson
cont. I think I have 230 Hours just from one playthrough of the game + DLC. Even if you don't do the busy work you can easily get 150 Hours of playtime just by doing unique quest.
Thx. I never tried any quest or follower mods, because I play the game in german and it kills my Immersion, when the language changes left and right. I might do a english playthrough in the future, because TES6 is so far away. I got a bit jealous, when we had Beyond Bruma Threads on the Board and everybody posted Screenshots.
I would say play it vanilla first, the first time is fun. Xbone had a decent amount of mods the last time i played it.
You can try Dragon's Dogma, and Red dead redemption 2. You can also play a lot of 360 and origonal xbox games if thats something you wanna do
Lucas Flores
goddamn now i miss being in 2012, around 16 yo brothers get an xbox 360 for new games cuz they only play fifa and wwe and EA would only release shitty versions on ps2, and thq would only release wwe 12 on 360 and ps3 me im interested in something else, saw so many videos, saw the dragons, the spells, the shouts, got skyrim, seeing it and playing it for the first time, amazing
Josiah Gutierrez
I finally got around to doing my trophy run for the game since I used mods when I first picked it up.
Having an unexpected good time despite having played through multiple times before; that in mind I'd say it can't hurt for a newcomer to boot it up.
