A lot of people using steam get their news about video game only from steam.See the news about metro exodus > follow the game news on steam. When metro team decided to move out of steam, all these people simply forgot about the game. I'm one of them. This thread have just remind me it exists to be honest. It's the "less click is better" gen. Open steam, libray, all my games are here. They don't want to instal more softwares, more shortcuts, etc... I think that's why game such as, e.g., world of warships made it to steam. They made access to their game less visible and a tiny bit more complicated, and they probably over estimated their fanbase.

i think the reasoning was that even if Metro doesn't turn a fraction of the profit it could have on Steam, they'll still win on it on the long run since early edopters of the platform can secure better future deals with Epic
basically they used Metro Exodus as a sacrificial offering, they win favors with Epic and nevermind what it does to the devs or the IP
