how does it feel to know htat yukiko's butt is the only reason anyone notices your threads

(you)

I bet if WRPGs were any good he wouldn’t be making these threads day after day

Yeah that was me

oh look, another comparison image where overdescribing your favorite side and underdescribing the other makes you right.

he can only describe as much as there is to describe. maybe if jrpgs weren’t so shallow ...

I wish Yukiko would sit on me

Nice projection.

Yukiko's ass is already more exciting than any shitty isometric rpg for grandpas.

Why is all Japanese media made for people with ADHD?

Now compare modern RPGs.

gay fish

wait.. is the image ironic?
am I autistic to even consider that it might not be?
one would think a mute character gives you more room to role-play, r-right?

Why is the quality of shitposts so low compared to that of shitposts of pre-2007 Yea Forums?

Western RPGs are pretty fucking boring. They're, more often than not, games that try way, WAY too hard to come off as mature and sophisticated.

Western devs need to relearn the fundamentals of what makes a fantasy game fun and exciting.

wrpgs are primarily inspired by dnd and focus on play freedom and world building, jrpgs mostly just take the party mechanics established by very influential wrpgs like Wizardry and combine that with linear narrative story telling reminiscent of manga or anime. it's a little bizarre, but the "rpg" of jrpgs is derivative of the mechanics of very early wrpgs, but not the tabletop role playing part which those wrpgs were trying to emulate.

they're both good for what they are, and no doubt triple a wrpgs have been trash lately, but there is no doubt in my mind jrpgs have never come close to the depth and roleplaying potential as what the west has achieved in the same genre.

it's not. I was here in 2005-2006, top memes were raiding camwhores and spamming "shoe on head", longcat and firing muh lazors

you mean like compare expeditions conquistador and underrail to octopath and dragon quest 69

It's fair to say the a lot stinkers come from both sides recently, but I have at least found a few recent JRPG I could enjoy. I can't speak for WRPGs though since I never play them.

RPGs are all about having adventures and discovering new worlds.

JRPGs are about having a life in the real world because you failed so miserably at the real thing.

>I have at least found a few recent JRPG I could enjoy
tell me what they are so i can ruin them for you

Why do the Japanese hate their real lives so much?

>culture is centered around working harder than anyone else

I don't fucking blame them.

Because it is stressful and unrewarding.

This t.b.h. On top of that, every western fantasy world feels exactly the same, and so do most sci-fi ones. I guess there's at least some semblance of variety in post-apocalyptic ones, but that's mostly courtesy of Metro more than anything else.

Kek

>On top of that, every western fantasy world feels exactly the same, and so do most sci-fi ones
I've played many wrpgs and jrpgs and I'm not sure how someone could say this for either type. How exactly do icons of wrpgs such as planescape, morrowind, fallout, kotor, deus ex, vtmb, arcanum, jade empire, etc, feel exactly the same?

All those strike me as very different both aesthetically and thematically.

the only thing worse than console wars are RPG wars
fuck nu/v/ and fuck all of you

>have to earn a fortune just to live in a shoebox
>if you don't get married and have kids, you get half a shoe box
>have to choose between a family or having enough disposable income for anything fun
>tons of hobbies and thrills to choose from if you have the money

Some men choose family and others choose hobbies because it's such a binary choice over there. Maybe some of the latter ones wish they could have families but gave up. Japan is a very expensive country to live in and your money does not get you very far when it comes to housing, but it's about the same when it comes to entertainment. Compared to housing, feeding and educating a family of four (self included), hobbies are dirt cheap and you'll still earn enough to retire on.

The big question is, what is going to happen when all these ronery Japanese men reach retirement age? The government is in a panic because they don't know yet. The window of opportunity for marrying up Japan's single millennials is quickly closing, and if they can't solve the problem then the women will be too old to have kids.

Europe and America are having a similar problem, except the women are whores and the government imports third world savages to breed them.

oh please wrpg could even make one single player campaign over the last decade that wasnt pure shit or completely destryoed with shit open world pacing.

The majority of those games came out 10+ years ago. The modern era of WRPGs are fucking dogshit compared to their colossally amazing predecessors.

closer to illumination

i like how weebs keep pretending wrpgs havent been on a massive upswing since 2012

Post examples, pls.

name a single good WRPG

JRPGs hit their peak in the late 90s but then flipped themselves in the wrong direction in the 00s and they have been stuck there whole this decace.

We didn't have games like Neptunia or Atelier from that genre when we were kids.
I can still remember the day my dad bought the 1st playstation and FFVII for my 12th birthday.

JRPGs are literally dead. I pity kids these days.

Attached: 1523478524644.jpg (2014x1632, 2.53M)

it's a pretty impossible to talk about the diversity of wrpgs when we can discount just how diverse the available selection is because there hasn't been as many good ones in the last 10 years compared to the last 40 years of rpg history.

>We didn't have games like Neptunia or Atelier from that genre when we were kids.
Atelier is 20 years old

>Nier and Nier Automata
>Kingdom Hearts
>Etrian Odyssey
>Generation 4 and 5 of Pokemon
>Valkyrie Profile I and II
>Final Fantasy X
>The Mario and Luigi games up until BiS, and the Paper Mario games up until Super Paper Mario
>Xenoblade Chronicles
>Dragon Quest, especially 9 and 11

etc etc, I think JRPGs are doin great and theyll hopefully continue to improve

>Atelier is 20 years old

I know that the first 2 games were out in the 90s but those weren't really bad unlike like the later games because they foucused on the gameplay more and so-called Moe was only a subtle flavor to them.

And I know there were already tons of Anime games like your pic, even before the 90s, but the genre-separation were working back then so they weren't really a problem.

Great, but not a rpg, tho

You have never played an atelier game.

It's one of the most normalfag boards.
People here like to pretend they're elite but mostly it's just a more retarded version of reddit here.

The first Atelier game had a great artwork though.
