If you want an ARPG, try grim dawn. It's my favorite, and with no leaderboards or "leagues" theres no meta unless you're trying to do the ~3 superbosses at max level. New expac coming out next month so probably a sale soon too.

the second team fortress game that isn't called classic. free, custom maps, mods, community servers, good voice lines, lots of different guns and you can be a heavy medic combo and co op that way, or be coop engineers and dress up as fat dads

Vermintide 2 had a shitty start but is in a pretty good state now, might be up your guys alley.

Try Deep Rock Galactic, user. There's a free weekend coming up so you can give it a try without having to drop money on it. Also, if you guys like roguelites I would heartily recommend Synthetik.

EDF 4.1 is the latest one on PC and i'd highly recommend it as a coop game. If you're into strategy games Divinity Original Sin 2 is also a blast when it comes to coop.

Most of my boomer friends play R6 Siege nowadays. I'd prefer fighting games but I'm too good to play against any of them anymore (even if I'm just mediocre online).

Quake Champions doesn't seem to scratch the itch of Quake Live but Quake Live is only so much fun getting fucking beasted on by people who have been playing non-stop for 20 years
