Seriously though, there is a long history of women being a part of game dev, even if the target audience has grown more and more to encompass teenage and young adult males. Women aren't a problem in gaming, mass-market homogenization is a problem. All you have to do is look at the HD era, starting with the 360 and PS3, and all of the game studios that folded up or were bought out because they had games that didn't sell enough to justify the outrageous dev costs on HD hardware. You knew we were at the point of no return when MGS4 needed to sell half a million copies just to break even, and you know we're falling further and further, because nowadays a big game like that selling even several million copies can still be seen as a failure.
