Electronic orgies of decadent snacking and shit talking.

Play the whole night and exchange all your porn at the same time

dope as fuck with cool ass discontinued junk food

I miss going out 3AM with friends to the nearest Waffle House.

Attached: 1138269016205.png (235x177, 78K)

Caffeine and sugar-fueled nights of intense gaming with zero lag and MASSIVE amounts of shit talking across the room.
It was the best of times.

Like sex but way better

A hassle and less and less fun every subsequent time.

I fucking miss it, bros. I miss it so god damn much

>passing around the D2 CD so everyone could play together
>enough caffiene consumed in a three hour span to kill a herd of elephants
>swamping the nearest Denny's at 3am
>hours-long sessions of DDR
>watching speed subbed anime hours after it aired
>endless banter and shit-talking
>wake up the next morning and do it all over again
Ah, better times. I still get together with a few friends for weekend gaming together, but its just not quite the same. Always been interested in those super lan parties that get hosted yearly with hundreds of people, but I hate big crowds so I've never been.

After the initial hour of having the nerdiest friend unfuck connection issues it was always a blast. Lots of Half Life, Starcraft, and Civ 3 matches. Snacked on Mountain Dew and Cooler Ranch Doritos. Trade porn pics you printed from the internet. Prank the first one to fall asleep. It was the golden age of gaming, not meaning that the games were better but that more fun was had because multiplayer games were dope AND the internet was too shitty to encourage us to sit at home.

Attached: clarissa87.jpg (1001x759, 121K)

Death will set us free.

Lots of fun. Smelled like BO, flat cola and old pizza. Stay up all night hanging with your mates.
Your only spend like 30% of the time actually playing games though, you'd always lose a few hours doing tech support for that one guy who's PC wouldn't connect to the network, or in the days of coaxial cables, having to rearrange the entire cable layout anytime someone came or left.
Half of the LAN was straight up leeching files or burning CDs of the lastest anime or movies at 240p, or ripping isos for games. None had internet back then really, so if that rich kid with internet came you'd all spend most of the night leeching files off of him.
Then because of no internet you always had to fuck around making sure everyone's game was the same patch version, CD keys etc.
Nostalgic and fun but modern convenience is far better. I still make an effort to go to a friend's place with my laptop once a month or so.

>Bawls energy drink

Holy fuck that is the official early-2000's energy drink right fucking there. I remember when a few local cyber cafes tried to take off they would sell them at those places. If you're lucky you'll see them in gaming stores.

Biggest one I ever went to was 20-30 ppl. 20 of which had computers, and the other 10 came to hang around.
Gamed for hours, split up and watched movies together, then moved to board games or DnD, or house games, made huge trips to the store where we bought nothing but junk food, and all piled in 10 cars to go to a late night dinner usually waffle house. I miss that group, never really liked anyone in that group except like 3 of them but holy fuck those days we spent doing that were one for the books.

I had lan parties once a month for halo 2 with my friends, lasted untill we all got internet and halo 3 came out

LMAO you call this nostalgia

I hated it, I could never find people to play battlezone and everyone played shitty games
, glad it's over.

Double Domination UT2004. I play this most mornings with my group room at school. My group teacher (he takes the roll daily) runs a server in his computer lab for these old boomer games. It's pretty fun with 20-30 people.

>Bawls
They actually sell those at a gas station near me, though I've opted for coffee now since it's way fucking cheaper.

What was the last "real" era of gaming with soul?

Attached: 1549505718815.jpg (2590x4061, 1.27M)

How are they still in business?! I haven't seen any in years. Is it a region thing?

>None had internet back then really
Third world or poorfag? My house had internet since like 1994.

I have no idea, honestly. They also stock cherry and orange flavored ones which I didn't even know existed until I saw them there.

bawls.com/flavors apparently there's even more flavors too.

Goddamn I fuckin love Unreal Tournament 2004.

Mid to late millennial, but fuck your faggot soul shit.

Playing all night. Enjoying snacks. Accusing other people of screen cheating. Testing out things in the game with your friends in real time because none of you bought the strategy guide and the internet was sort of obscure at that point.

Also your parents walking in and maybe making an awkward remark or asking if they can get anyone anything.

Soul is Subjectively based on the idea of Nostalgia. Soul is a loose terms used by idiots of Yea Forums to warrant their generation of games as the best when they're only hung up on their own falsehoods of Nostalgia. Anything can have "soul." Entertainment is not objective, only subjective.

Early zoomer had traces left.

>but fuck your faggot soul shit.

Had 2 buddies come over a week ago, have a 4k monitor, 4k tv and a 1440p monitor all in one room so we rocked some MH world. Loved it and wanted to see if they wanted to swing by a few times and they would rather sit at my buddies place, smoke 50 cigarettes, smoke a ton of weed and watch my one friend play dragonball fighterz and my other buddy just stare at his fuckin phone all night. Shits retarded.

honestly, this. eventually we just stuck to playing local multiplayer games on one pc or console because it was just easier and a lot less time consuming,

Man I miss doing RA2, d2, software and delta force Lan parties.
Also midtown madness 2 gold mode was so fuckin cash.
We shit talked, got drunk and exchanged porn
It was simpler times.
I saw my son playing with his buddies and they were on twitch and they were doing the same thing we used to do it made me happy remember those moments and there was this deep sadness that it was over 20 years ago and most of us are on our separate journeys

3 hours of getting everyone plugged in, booted, and in the game, 5 minutes of playing a game, 3 minutes to go down stairs and reset the circuit breaker, 20 minutes to get everyone back in the game, 5 minutes of playing the game, 3 minutes to reset the circuit breaker again, then the rest of the day giving up and going out for pizza and walk in the park instead.

Australia. The only internet anyone had was "30min of free internet a day!" CDs that came with magazines until the late 90s when expensive and slow dial up plans started happening.
Thing is, there wasn't much to "do" on the internet then except check email, message friends on msn messenger or watch flash cartoons on JoeCartoon.
Broadband started getting affordable and commonplace by the early-mid 00's, which is about when LAN parties died out.

Imagine a time before youtube, streamers, and comprehensive excel files detailing what exactly are the best items/builds/paths. People just having fun

does fortnite allow splitscreen? otherwise why the hell have all of that other crap for only 5 people? and no chairs?

t. Mad Yea Forums user who uses Soul to warrant his own false sense of security that he's actively drifting further from the warm happiness that gaming once provided, but can no longer get in touch with so he pins it down to it being games losing its soul when in reality you've just grown up and become a boring husk of the person you once were

Get the gun user you'll never be 12 again.

smelly

Late millennial and this is not up for debate

just happened to google "lan party russian" and your face popped up

no hard feelings?

Hard to say because in a third world country gen Y and Z blend together

i'm american

They reeked of virginity and failure. Much like a Melee tournament, except LAN goers actually showered once in a while.

Carrying heavy ass crt. And bawls

Used to do this shit and literally make a fucking week out of it and make my house a hangout for everyone. Feed everyone, got a few spare beds, rock some games and chill out. God damn it was good times.

I'd always play Diablo 1-2, Starcraft, Doom, Duke Nukem, Unreal Tournament, Quake and Warcraft with my friends, my brother, and my brothers friend.

My Dad used to be a computer hobbyist so he was always buying and building new pcs so we always had 3-5 computers set up in the basement.

Now my dad just plays Disc golf all day and says he cant play video games for longer than 20 minutes before getting tired. He's been playing DOOM recently, but hes getting frustrated he cant even get half of my arcade scores.

while i'm more biased towards my own core millennial shit, early zoomers was the last era with soul before it got killed completely

soul
soulless

It's pretty weird lan parties are almost dead considering how much fucking easier it is now to set them up.

Before finding space for 6 CRTs and managing the wires was such an endeavor, now you literally just put a monitor in a back pack, and buy a wifi dongle.

i thought so

I was trying to look for this image instead but I thought it was too weird and would derail the thread. So I went with yours because it perfectly captured an entire era.

Seems to be for a birthday party, id guess the gaming area is just for some people to play, unless the birthday boy doesnt have more friends than that.

hard but necessary blackpill

Is this the ultimate pedophile lure bait for children?

He's cute

Early zoomers on LAN xbox 360 had a touch of soul.

why, full of parties

Attached: Screen_Shot_2017-06-09_at_4.34.34_PM.jpg (600x566, 32K)

I liked it though. Lan parties, leeching files and burning CDs was sociable and way faster than waiting all week to download 30meg .avis off kazaa and hoping that it was actually an anime episode you wanted and not something else.
Everyone had "that friend" that had mountains of CD and DVD spindles filled with pirated shit.
Really it was probably the last time that blatant piracy was so normal and commonplace.
Now people look at you funny if you don't have a Netflix account

boy, he burnt the shit outta hotdogs

>trade games and porn within first 3 hours
>spend rest of the time wanting to go home and fap

>started off getting 5 of us together to try to stay up a whole week before New Years Eve
>moved onto doing the 7 day survival on Dead Rising with each of us taking shifts
>our numbers dwindled but 3 of us started to play Killing Floor together in the basement for days at a time
>that ended up being changed to random ass steam games
>ended when we left that awkward early 20s years of having all the free time of kids, but as adults
We also had a place here that charged 20 dollars a night, but was a dedicated LAN center with a shitload of games. We'd always shoot over on the weekends and do stuff like play WoW, CoD2, and Rise of Nations together.

>went to a lan party with a bunch of other 30 year old boomers
>people kept """""pranking""""" other people by putting hentai on their desktops

Attached: 1547610421471.jpg (891x670, 143K)

I remember the all nighters during the weekends at my old place's cybercafe
It was lineage 2, linkin park/evanescence/nightwish all night while naked low level elves were running in forests. It was a much simpler time and we all had such a good time. I was too young but there definitely was some porn sharing among the older dudes
I really really wish there comes a point in my life where I can feel something like that again. We're too used to min maxing shit in any kind of game and the internet has taken away the charm of discovery in games

StarCraft, Diablo II, CS Source, Halo PC, Unreal Tournament 2004, Quake III, Command and Conquer games, Jedi Knight
Fuck man
I want to go back. Now it's just fucking MOBAs and Battle Royale.
RTS is Dead. LAN is fucking dead. Decent fucking multiplayer is dead.

>that one friend who somehow had a big ass (~25" and above) display

Zoomers will never know. Those were relatively heavy (25-30kg / 55-65lbs) and uncomfortable to carry. In an era where most common sizes must have been 15-17", maybe followed by 14" and 19"-21".

super fucking gay

>Went to an IBM store with my dad one day
>They have Quake 2 MP running in one room
>Didn't understand what modding was
>See models for Cartman and Homer Simpson as the players
>Figure out how to unlock them when I get the game myself.

Good times.

Why the fuck did so many crts have fucking sharp edges

Why wouldn't they create places on the god damned TV for you to put your hands. WHY WAS IT ALWAYS SO FUCKING MISERABLE

did anyone else get/give a blowjob at a lan party?

Bunch of awkward nerds hanging out and making really stupid jokes about how l337 they were and pwning people. They loved manly shooters and thought their claim to power was being able to beat everyone else at their flavor of the month.

it hasnt gotten any better
i've owned exactly one monitor, ever, that had something resembling a handle. and it was still awkward as fuck to carry.
at least you can get competent laptops for vidya now

>dad had a friend that programmed a massive collection of games into a front end gui
>had tons of fan games in it as well
>i thought this was an official release

Sequel to Abducted in Plain Sight?

Monitors are so think you can easily carry them just under your arm now so it doesnt bother me as much.

There are CRTs that weigh over 75 and are wider than my wingspan

best time of my life

where the fuck did you all go :(

i remember when i used to go to a cybercafe there were these distant pcs where boomers would masturbate to hentai unironically, i was friends with the owner and you could peek their screen from the main pc
top kek boomers

Looks like a fun birthday for the kids

We all became jaded and turns out thinking you know better than everyone else and spreading your cynicism gets you no where.

How the fuck do people have that much money to blow on food, popcorn and snow cone machines, and decorations?

Imagine being like 13 and going over to a friends house for their birthday party.

This kid and his rich parents would be a legend at school

>Just too young to experience these
>Laptops in HS
>Everyone playing COD4 all day on private wifi networks
>Don't have to smell a room full of unwashed boys, room-temp pizza, and hot filthy computers
Feels good

>kids
>21 years old

If I was 12 today, this would be amazing.

When I was 12, we stayed up late, watched Ghostbusters and then played on the Sega Master System for the rest of the time (I'm Australian). Oh, and pretend WWF wrestling (took all the mattresses off the beds, set them up and proceeded to throw each other onto them while shouting lines from whatever wrestlers we knew).

This is a reminder for everyone that you've all let this feeling die and that these magical times could be yours again if you search for a new passion instead of being cynical cunts sperging about the past
If you think videogames are shit then find something else unrelated to vidya and try to feel the same again

Lan parties got crazier once we could get beer. Shit it was like training for college parties.

clicky

You can rent that stuff pretty cheap. Even the TV's and PS4's or whatever can be rented cheaply.

>yelling and swearing
>constant accusations of cheating
>"GO MID" "RUSH B"
>trying to get more pizza than the others while reducing downtime
>insulting the enemy team as loudly as possible

Please tell me the birthday boy was less than 16 years old.

give us a moment, searching for new highs is hard

insulting people loudly/getting insulted and no one taking offense

>headshot someone
>literally hear them yell in agony across the room

My god. Zoomers will never know this feel

Fucking awesome

>comprehensive excel files detailing what exactly are the best items/builds/paths
I hate having OCD. I feel like if my build isn't perfect I have to start over.

imagine turning 12 right. You've got your squad of fortniters and you're all going to hang out in the same room. But you need a fifth TV to stream snipe duh.

my family owned a cyber coffee long time ago, I was old enough to administrate it, i tend to inv friends after clossing to drink beers and play cs 1.6 and broodwar, old times dude..

fucking over someone who can call you a dickweed in person is always far more gratifying than doing it anonymously online.

I never laugh at this shit
To them, this is their future nostalgia

imagine a group of 20+ nerds coked up on caffeine and amphetamines screaming at each other for 12 hours straight and then going to denny's in the morning to do it all over again in a few hours

that's pretty much how my LAN parties usually went

Imagine a 48 hour sleepover with an octopus of cables and cords.

If you were the guy with Dial-up, you'd miss all of Grandma's calls while you played Runescape and Starcraft

first and last invite

Are lan parties even a thing anymore for zoomers?

the most """"LAN"""" zoomers will probably ever get is coming over to a friends place to play smash ultimate

what third world country are you guys from? tvs those size are $120-$130 range and non-industrial snow cone/popcorn are $30-$160.

obviously the house with weed was more fun

video games, sleep overs and the occasional orgies

did anyone born in the mid 90s experience lan parties? i was born in 96 and havent

My old elementary school had a computer lab. I must have been 10 or so. My classes with the computer lab were more like vacations than classes. I did the assignments but they just felt so easy and fun to me. I spent lots of recesses in the classroom too, just sort of goofing around with friends at the computers. The teacher was a swell guy too, he was okay us and even played against me in some friendly Neopets battledome games at one point.

I actually got introduced to the concept of ROMs through that class because the chill-ass teacher had preloaded every single apple mac with ROMs of every single NES game there was. I got introduced to weird stuff I would have never known about at a very early age, like Mappy and Kung-Fu and Spy Hunter.

I also had a friend install trial versions of Starcraft Brood War that allowed for multiplayer among anyone who had it installed. I actually remember having sort of mini-lan breaks after we cleared our assignments playing random people in the classroom at starcraft. I remember playing against a girl who wanted to play against me, but by the time I got to her base with a small army she still hadn't built anything.

But let me tell you about this shit. SLAM DUNK FUCKING TYPING. I was a the goddamn king of this game back in my day. Our class had a whiteboard that had lists of high scores and names, and my name was just all over them. I never see this game come up enough during nostalgia threads and it makes me sad.

My typing speed today is slightly above average, I wish I could type faster but what can you do. I have lots of weird typing habits, even now as I type this I hit the spacebar with my pointer finger about half of the time I need to press it.

I know computer lab classes aren't really lan parties to most people but for me it really felt like one at times.

Attached: slam-dunk-typing.jpg (1023x896, 178K)

I was also born in 96, I had them with my friends in high school, which, considering how much easier it is nowadays, I don't know why people don't do more. Sure it's more of a hassle to have everyone go to one place to play a game you can stay at home and play together, but there's a certain feeling that's missing when you do. It feels more special when you put in extra effort to come together and play.

Damn dude. I wish I had friends who were rich as fuck.

none of them are even playing the same game, except maybe the starjew guys in the centre.

95, i saw it once but didn't participate since it was older guys but then years later i participated in 2 or 3

>lan party
>wifi

I lived in a small town so everyone would go to LAN parties since there was nothing else to do. I actually got together with some of my old HS friends but all we did was drink and talk about everyone who's died since we left school.

PSO and dominos LAN for me

this best be bait

I still have lan parties with my friends two or three times every year.
We used to play the old version of mithology but I think we will need to upgrade to the extended edition.
It's not like the old times of course cuz most of us can't eat junk food anymore and we have boomer problems and shit

Yeah I knew one of you would turn up and push your historical revisionist shit
