SIE Japan Studio to close at the end of the month

>Sony is closing its internal Japan Studio, best known as the primary developer of the Ape Escape, Siren, LocoRoco and Gravity Rush franchises, as well as co-developing cult favorites such as Folklore, Demon's Souls, Soul Sacrifice and Bloodborne. The studio has been in operation in various incarnations for 25 years.

>"Within [Sony Interactive Entertainment] Worldwide Studios, we have a regular process of review in order to consider projects coming to completion and the deployment of resources," Sony said in a statement sent to GameSpot. "In such a competitive landscape this enables us to continue to create and produce high-quality, innovative and commercially viable projects. Having reviewed and assessed all current projects and plans for the short and medium term, we have decided that in order to deliver on our strategic objectives, it is necessary to make some changes to the worldwide studio structure. As a result, it has been decided that Japan Studio will close, effective as of March 30, 2019.".
