why is oblivion so boring
like im not gonna say it's a bad game or nothing like that cause it does have some good elements from both skyrim and morrowind, but every time i sit down to play it i feel like im forcing myself to do so. it's just boring.

Different user but basically what he's saying is OpenMW will basically be like having the entire source code for the Creation Engine. You can mod literally anything to Morrowind and presumably Oblivion and Skyrim at some point. Due to it being Open Soruce a team was able to make OpenMorrowind naively support multiplayer. It will be far superior to that Skyrim mod.
You'll probably faster see someone demake Oblivion to use Morrowind's mechanics and dialogue.

On a comfy level, it's aged well. I enjoyed going back to it as an adult because I can appreciate it more than I did as a kid. Also music.

this. i mean you can decrease its effects on gameplay by picking major skills you rarely use. but keeping track of your skillgains is not what I define as fun gameplay. the only thing keeping me from replaying and finally finishing this game. meanwhile there is no corner in morrowind I havent explored.

I wish I could love Oblivion, there are parts of it that really are good. But I'll never be able to fully let go of the disgust I felt playing it after playing Morrowind for so long. Dumbed down gameplay and terrible art direction and use of the setting. There's so much cool lore in the TES universe and so many opportunities to tell interesting stories, but instead we get shit like Oblivion and Skyrim.
That said, I'm replaying MW now and will probably do Oblivion after. I'm only using very light mods, staying pretty close to vanilla. I think I'll wanna change the level scaling though, what's the best mod for it nowadays?

More, some NPC dialogues and quests immerse you in lore too.

it's kind of impressive to see how much better ESO has gotten over time compared to the massive shitheap it was on launch. they've pretty much succeeded in turning it into the multiplayer Elder Scrolls game it should have been from the start

not really. it's not a bad game anymore but it's not the multiplayer elder scrolls it could have been. They could have just modded skyrim to be multiplayer compatible and it would be way closer to what it should have been. But after seeing Fallout76, I'm kinda glad that they didn't.
