I'll agree on the atmosphere part. I'd say FO1 had a better feel of postapocalyptic America than any of its sequels or spinoffs. There were not many outlandish factions, and it took itself just a smidgen more seriously.
It was very short though, like 7 hours which is way below what people expect from an RPG. Also comically unbalanced, some skills/abilities/traits/weapons are godlike and some do almost literally nothing.
