>New interfaces are shit >USA Congress events are annoying and RNG based >Broken naval balance >Fuel absolutely fucks regular gameplay >Research feels like I'm playing a mod instead of the vanilla game >New mechanics require so much micro-management that things become impossible to manage efficiently in a war also fuck the new graphics and fuck the glitch with the AI that cause their units to spaz out on a single tile
the only good additions were the customization at the beginning of the game with countries and the new focuses (which is brought down entirely by the new mechanics)
USA can also infinity train its fleet and get perma 100% reductions on naval doctrine before WWII, it's absolutely retarded

The Germans should've never declared war on the Soviet Union yet they added things to make the match more fair in the game. Why didn't they add the same sort of stuff for Japan?
>Research feels like I'm playing a mod instead of the vanilla game this is so true it hurts

Arguably Germany could have won against Russia, since the Soviets got beat by Poland in the interwar period. Germany going up against UK, Russia, France, and the US was what really did them in.
Japan just straight up could not win against the USA. They had zero capability, or even desire, to invade the mainland US; and believed the US population would pressure their leadership into accepting Japanese domination of the Pacific, which was ludicrous from the get go. In fact, that scenario isn't even possible in HOI4.

Not him but Poland got support from western countries with tanks etc and almost lost. They were also equal in manpower. Don’t forget the US funding the rise of communism. I don’t think they Germans could’ve won if not for preparing better, finishing off the UK etc. The US entering was their end though it was inevitable.

k I know as much of naval warfare as the average mongolian but I'm pretty sure it was the other way arround

tldr: the most effective way to play is to use infantry outzerging the ai. All the new mechanics are poorly implemented and the ai can't even manage fronts. I don't play multiplayer because i have not unlimited time and i can't wait an hour just to start a game that's going to never be finished anyway.
Jason Harris
Germany could not have won against the Soviets. Of the many reasons why the Soviets did so poorly, their officer corps was gutted by Stalin which the game railroads you into to nerf the Soviets because they would stomp Germany into the ground otherwise.
Juan Cox
I had high hopes for the naval revamp. Is it really so bad now? I was too much of a brainlet to understand it before (save for "merge all your ships into one fleet and just add battleships).
Are mines useful? Fuel mechanic any good? Anything?
Gabriel Brown
Let's just say that it needs a patch or two plus some heavy duty modding to be really playable.

Top kek. Soviets had a horribly incompetent military in the early war. Germans weren't superhuman either. Both learned a lot from each other as the war went on, but in the early war Germany simply had much better equipment. Most of the Soviet tactics at the time basically just delayed until shit like the T-34 could be massed produced to turn the tide.
More like another DLC to fix all the problems this one introduces. And another DLC to fix its problems, and so on. HOI5 is going to be announced by 2021, mark my words. None of this is getting fixed, MtG was the last expansion. It's the same fucking thing that happened to HOI3.
Jack Foster
>W-We would win ingame Top Tier cope really. They don’t win ingame because you can prevent bombings and resource shortages.
Parker Wood
The T-34 was present at the beginning of Barbarossa dumdum and outmatched the Germans so much that they immediately began designing a copy. It's just that the incredibly bad tactics and training of the tankers caused directly by Stalin's gutting of the Officer Corps lead to legions of them being destroyed.
