If they wanted to make a GG announcement there they would have gotten EVO onto the mainstage. ArcRevo is shortly after EVO and has already been set up as big GG tournament so it would be a much more appropriate time for an announcement and a more appropriate place for a sendoff of Rev 2, or even Xrd as a whole than EVO, and the timing's roughly the same either way.

I play melee gg and unist, happy to see unist get in because another year of watching hbox top 8s does nothing for melee but this is huge for unist. Not too worried about gg either because the community is really dedicated. Only downside is all these secondaries who don't like melee coming out of the woodwork even though they don't play fighting games.

It's a more grounded anime fighter, with more emphasis on ground attacks. It's a spiritual successor to melty blood, and even has a character from that game. The soundtrack and setting are pretty dope, and the engrish adds a bit of charm to it. For a small studio project to get into evo just shows how much effort was put into it.

The momentum is strong as fuck in this game though and defensive tools get taken away from you if you fuck up so it's hella punishing if you risk it. I don't think I've seen so many perfects in any fighting game I've played than in here. CVO also kills people even quicker.

it is, but the game definitely still feels and plays like a middle ground between street fighter and anime. don't get me wrong, there's a lot to learn and it's still definitely a french bread game, and momentum is absolutely heavy in this game, but you're given a lot of tools to overcome it. if you fuck up you do get wacked though. plus i think it's just worth people seeing how fucking fleshed out a fighting game tutorial can be. if these broke bastards can do it any studio can. not trying to lie to people, just giving them the quick rundown.

I'm glad UNIST finally made it in, they've deserved a spot for years, along with other games.
I do find it hard to believe that Wizard dropped GG and BB (and Melee) for the sake of UNIST though. I'm thinking that spot was originally going to be Granblue, and Under Night was the backup in case Granblue wouldn't be out in time.
Both choices the GG and BB crowd would have trouble complaining about, despite their games getting dropped for no real reason.

BB is dead and buried because it's not popular. It wasn't killed, it died a natural death. It's only been at Evo like three times. It was never going to be at Evo in the first place.

Generally tiers are pretty close. Enkidu who's absolute bottom tier made it to top 4 at Evo last year, admittedly in part due to matchup unfamiliarity.

Not that big but you'll still usually see the same characters over and over because why put in the effort if you can pick someone easy and win. Game has a lot of really hard characters and a bunch of utterly brainless gorillas so the obvious result is to be expected.

I hope some god Vat goes to evo and they pull the player cam on his fingers during the match.

Wagner has a lot of great buttons that are good starters like 6B, 66C, 5B, 2C. If I recall, you end most combos with a buff or hard knockdown in general, so oki shouldn't be much of a worry for her either. Hit confirming just takes time and lots of practice.

The only way to learn to beat people better than you is to lose to people that are better than you.

Given the hype surrounding its entry to the Top 9, there will be a not insignificant number of people who are brand new to it and we'll all be shit. The player count on Steam, however small, has been climbing slowly for the past two months and the past two days has had it skyrocket, comparatively.

Eh it's a learning experience for the beginner and a chance for the community to grow in my opinion. I don't think they'd shoo you away because of your beginner level ability. Heck, just in this thread I got the offer to play a few matches with one of the pros and there he didn't seem to mind my amateur take at the game.

Gave me a good number of rounds before calling it. Don't be afraid of putting yourself on the chopping block or worrying about burning other people's time. Use it as a learning experience of what not to do and how to do basic fundamentals like blocking and learning the right time to counterhit the opponent.
