I hate this stupid excuse. If it was never meant to be good or a reason to buy the game WHY WASTE TIME AND MONEY CODING IT. Truth is the devs think they're funny/good writers but they suck.

The story has never been good, so I'm not surprised.

Weekend warriors who pick the game up would cry bloody murder if it didn't have a story. It's literal fluff for people who aren't ever actually going to play the game online, because they are going to drop it and move on in less than 4 days flat anyways.

Blazblue story is very good, but a little hard to understand if you didn't played all games.

Street Fighter story mode is very simple.

Tekken story is very stupid.

Soul calibur story is average.

Mortal Kombat story is wtf but very fun.

DOA story is not bad.

It's not an excuse lol it's literally the truth, they throw in a story as an afterthought and it's a nice afterthought, adds a little to the experience, but not even close to the selling points of the game.

So what if there is a very strong bad guy? Hayabusa can just handle him.

They should give an excuse like :

tl;dr Helena sparred with Marie Rose to see if she was fit to bodyguard Honoka because now they realized she is Raidou. Then, Ayane came to test Honoka because they also figured out she is Raidou. Eventually, Ayane realized Marie Rose ain't shit, tried to take Honoka to safety but Christie swept in and kidnapped Honoka anyway.
Oh and there's kasumi and her clones with hayabusa waifufagging her as usual.
