The way Vergil is shown in the trailer, with the circumstance and the glass coming down and all, leaves only really possible scenarios:
a) Urizen is sending them into an illusionary realm to fight their pasts and nightmares, and Dante sees Vergil (which could explain why Vergil is dressed neatly again after wearing nothing but rags when he collected Yamato)
b) Everyone is caught in some sort of pocket dimension and Vergil here officially enters the ring by heroicalls judgement cutting them out of the pocket dimension before turning around
