No one buys a year subscription because Nintendo just doesn't have that many games worth playing online. System has been out for 2 years and the only big multiplayer games are Smash and Splatoon 2. Most normalfags can't play those for 12 months straight without getting bored.
It's cheaper to just buy a short-term subscription when you get a new online game, rather than buying a year and then wasting 75% of it.
