Celeste sucks.

The Meatboy style gameplay loop is overrated af. It's meant to take away frustration, and it does, but it also takes away satisfaction.

Also, the graphics are ugly as fuck. Pick any random decent SNES/Genesis game and it'll look better. It's unacceptable.

Honestly, the only great part about Celeste was the music, from the lady (male) whom Yea Forums fell in love with.

I regret pirating Celeste, it was such a good game, they deserved my money, but I don't wanna buy it now since I won't be playing it again.

Celeste is excellent, but I don't know if I'd give it a perfect score. It's certainly on the cusp but it still plays it safe for the most part. It's just an extremely well made platformer but doesn't do anything beyond that.

Mario Odyssey is extremely, heavily flawed and comes no where near to deserving a perfect score; not in the fucking slightest. Only three of the kingdoms are well designed (Wooded, Lost, and Metro) while the other half are too open and empty and/or have lackluster platforming. This isn't a sequel to Mario 64, it's a sequel to Banjo Kazooie, and even then it fails to impress. The only thing that Mario Odyssey gets right is Mario's controls and abilities, which are arguably the best that they've ever been, but that doesn't mean shit without strong level design.

I haven't played Breath of the Wild yet.

I'm starting to realize I've never seen a harsh criticism of celeste that doesn't make it about politics or at least bring politics into it which is hilarious because the game isn't even political.

You do you but, if you need an excuse to play it again, the developer is releasing new levels as free DLC. It's supposed to be harder than the current C Sides. If you don't want stupid difficulty, then you probably shouldn't bother; the B and C Sides got pretty fucking ridiculous.

I pretty much fully agree. My gut instinct is to say Celeste is a 9.5/10. I feel like it just comes short of that perfect 10.
That being said the final level is coming out soon so that might bump it over the top.

Yeah Odyssey is literally Mario Tooie. I definitely think it's a good game, but it deserves the 10 the least out of these games.

I have played BOTW and I will say it is probably the best open world game I've ever played BUT it still is an open world game and runs into the problem that most do. Without boundaries set by the game's priorities, it can get boring at times. Yes I said it. BOTW can drag. Sue me.

That's what I'm expecting from BotW, and it doesn't help that I'm not a fan of open world games. I'll see for myself one day. A friend of mine described it as a really well made illusion: you're having a ton of fun while you play it but, looking back, it wasn't really that special. I don't know what to expect from that game, but I guess I'll get around to it one day since people are still making a big deal about it.

Odyssey would have deserved a 10 if it had twice as many levels. Everything else was good, but the short length of the game is what ruined it for me and many others.

Fortnite is around 3~4 on user's score on Metracritic. Meaning that most people don't like it. But it sells. It has a good marketing. And then you look at the "journalists" score... almost 9/10. Strange, isn't it?

BotW is a solid 7 and the other two I dunno, I wouldn't say 10s but they are good games.

I give roughly as much weight to critic scores as I do user scores, that being not much.
The only people I give any value to as to their game opinion are the ones who have played the game in question a lot. Multiple times in fact. Someone that breezes through Half Life on normal difficulty and then thinks they have a credible opinion on the game gets not much more weight from me than someone who hasn't played it. It's the person that has completed the game on various difficulties, and usually completed all side content fully, maybe gotten all trophies or achievements, that I trust.
Also I'm not really your enemy here. I haven't even played the game. I just know metacritic is a pretty bad metric for game quality, regardless of which aggragate you're going by. And it didn't take more than 15 seconds after visiting the Celeste Metacritic page to prove my point.

I 100% most of the games I play.
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are both shit. I put hours and hours grinding them to completion and getting all A ranks. They're not good games. If you want proof I'll dig it up for you

achievements changed that. Plenty of people complete games they don't like now.
And if that's really your sticking point them the solution is simple, just make it so people who only give positive reviews get theirs removes.
