Honest question

Is the entire FGC made up of insufferable autistic retards or is it just the smash fags that wont stfu?

I've literally never heard of controversy about other games than smelee

Its the entire community
What did you expect from a range that requires such commitment? At one point, it's bound to become an open door for these kinds of people.

You do need a certain degree of autism to get into fighting games, but smashfags take it to the next level with their party game bullshit.

Is the entire board made up of retards that don't play games?

melee are complete fags and the fgc is full of autistic faggots and furries

FGC isn't so bad.
Most fighting game groups are reasonably filled with people who welcome others

The problem with Melee fans is that the game isn't evolving. It's done. The only thing that will happen is when the top players retire, they get replaced.

Other games are constantly evolving and changing the meta. Melee is at a tie and won't change

Only smashfags who think they play a fighting game

Me neither
As someone who doesnt even care about smash, smelee cucks are hillarious to observe... from afar

Dunno man, Tekken and SC dudes are pretty chill

I playe DaS3 today, what did you play?

The FGC is kinda cool cause you have the full spectrum of walks of life coming into it
Brian Hates is a legit doctor of psychology and a mean Cervantes player, while somicfox is a degenerate gay black furry and a top NRS player
That variety shines through and makes stuff interesting
Smash is mostly just kids or autists though, they’re not really a part of the FGC as they just play smash and don’t even have a passive interest in other fighting games

>The only thing that will happen is when the top players retire, they get replaced.

Honestly, who will be there to replace the old guard? I'm out of the loop when it comes to Melee but I do know that Hbox, Mew2King, Leffen are some of the big names in the community. As for as for any up and comers, I have heard nothing in that front. I feel like most newbies are just choosing Ultimate or some other fan mods than picking up Melee.

What about that dbzf tourney won by that furry when he basically stalled

Kali in smash when?

No idea, I don't keep up with anymore. I stopped caring when about two years ago I just realized "yep, I'm gonna see the same garbage each melee evo"

The thing is, it's a fuck to play - you need a proper CRT monitor because of lag which aren't even made anymore really outside of specialists

I'm not saying everyone should have jumped ship to learning Ultimate but the game is just stagnant now so there's no point in watching

There are a bunch of solid players out there that could take the reign, as well as Top 10 really closing the gap more & more ( Aside from Hbox which is a hurdle for everyone in the community, and the game as a whole ). Biggest rise is probably Zain, who managed to beat all of the big players several time & get himself 7th in the Melee Rankings of 2018, despite not being here for that long and only really starting to pick up steam by Late 2017.
I think if we would have had Melee at EVO 2019, it would have probably been far different from what the FGC seems to expect with the 5 known top players at the Top. That being said, a good event is nothing without a good finale, and Hbox's dominance over the scene lately has been too strong, and with a character that isn't especially thrilling for anyone. I can fully understand that a billion Fox ditto, or Marth matchup, or anything of the sort may seem samey to the FGC, and rightfully so as outsiders of the scene, but I think it can't be argued the likes of Fox/Puff are static, samey matchups, revolving most around similar neutral options and heavy usage of bread & butters. Even as someone that can appreciate all the subtlety & microspacing play of Melee, i'd rather not be exposed to this matchup for extended periods of time.

You not only need a CRT monitor but also a gamecube. And if you're really hardcore about it, a Gamecube controller that just so happens to have a particular defect in it that supposedly helps you pull of a particular type of tech better.
And keep in mind, they don't make these specific type of first party gamecube controllers anymore so you have to search hard to find that exact one. Don't know anything about the current re-released first party controllers.

> I stopped caring when about two years ago I just realized "yep, I'm gonna see the same garbage each melee evo"

THere's only so many times you can watch Hbox stall as Jigglypuff before you just say fuck it and leave.

I think the biggest issue for me is that as someone that enjoys Tekken a lot (I don't care about the people in the community but I know the game well enough to have a good understanding), it reminds me of Tekken 4 - one character was considered top tier because of one unblockable justframe cancel. Finals would be Jin vs Jin and it was boring.

It's the same with melee. I really, really don't fucking care about seeing Fox for the thousandth time.

At least with most other games you can get around 8 different characters possibly in the finals.

But melee? 1-3 at best

Not really true at all. Most pros still have shit neutral games compared to goats like pond and armada. When the fox 20xx combo meme finally dies off box is gonna get toppled fast and the meta will change

Don't Melee Tournaments also use Wiis? I have no idea

I still don’t get the defective GameCube controller thing. What exactly is the defect?

From a loltaku article:

In layman’s terms, certain inputs that players like Lindgren use are only possible through the use of a controller that is technically malfunctioning in a specific way.

For example, a dashback—or back dash depending on your jargon—occurs when a player inputs a dash backwards from a standing animation. It’s a very useful move in competitive Smash, but executing that input consistently can be difficult if your controller has excessive snapback—when the analog stick vibrates slightly after moving from an outer position to a neutral position in the center. Players will run controllers through tests, ranking them on their ability to consistently execute dashbacks, in order to find a controller that will suit their needs.

Of course, you're fucked if you happen to forget to bring your controller to a tourny.

That is exceedingly autistic. Shouldn’t those ‘defective’ controllers be illegal in tournaments for the sake of fairness?

Thats not a controversy that's people being butthurt a furry won and are trying to discredit him

seems like it'd just be a looser spring, don't think that counts as defective

>smashfags
>ever shutting up

They're a disease and it's not coincidence their "elite" are microscopes into jagged neurons, copious chromosomes, and inverted penises. A tangent off the jackal bloodline, they've latched onto the pioneer of nerdcore cinematic universes - Smash - and drench the notion of Pikachu and Mario with their tributed and dysfunctional semen like a chaotic sigil.

You would think that yes but since this is Melee, this is perfectly okay.

There are autists in every scene, it's just a lot more prevalent in smash.

Shut up, nerd

Should be but aren't

It's defective in that it's not up to the standard of the regular controls.
It's one of the reasons that a few players have been pushing to move to arcade sticks because eventually, it means controllers are going to get destroyed from overuse

Right? Melee is almost old enough to vote. Most people get into competitive gaming in high school or college and who the fuck is going to pick up a two decade old game instead of the newest iteration?

Yes. No literally. Both of those.
