Planning on replaying this for the first time since release and I wanted to set my own rules to make the game a bit more interesting.

>No fast travel
>No upgrading hearts
>No saving horses

Any other ideas I should add to this?

naked
mop only

No food during battles
None of those 4 skills you get
No upgrading armor

>No changing clothes until you reach an inn
>No using bombs on enemies
>You can only eat cooked meat

not playing the game haha I'm so funny

And no map

Wouldn't no hearts just let you get two shot unless you spam healing items in battle?

Definitely going to include no skills, but I'll probably keep upgrading armor and food since I'm going to only have 3 hearts the whole game.

>No changing clothes until an inn
>Can only eat cooked meat
Definitely adding these

Do you think I should keep adding hearts and play in hard mode instead?

Food is one of the reasons why BotW combat is shit. If you can choose between no hearts and no food, just go for no food. Armor also makes you OP to the point some enemies do like half a heart per hit. No food and no armor upgrades is the optimal way to play

Emulate it, and you can actually mod those things in.

post mods then

The ground is lava. You may only stand on sanctioned trails and artificial structures.

I'm probably gonna allow general food, but no raw meat and avoid armor besides an outfit I decide I like, which I'll still allow myself to upgrade

Only things BotW needed
1)no hearty foods
2)food spoils if you don't eat it
3)a fullness stat
4)You can't eat while climbing or in combat

Eating food during combat ruins everything, but do what you want

I more meant that there's a mod to outright remove fast travel.
There's also an option in CEMU's list for BOTW which completely removes the hud entirely - you know how in Pro it takes away everything other than hearts? This takes away hearts and stam, too. It's pretty nice.

There's also a mod to make the Master Sword not require 13 hearts to pickup, which is nice if you want to go a low health run but still be 'proper' link.

Even if I only have 3 hearts?

I feel that hearts are a necessity to display really

>Make mistake
>Pause game
>Remove mistake with 0 punishment
Nice game bro.

This. Stamina too. I'd be pissed as hell if I spent a whole minute trying to climb a ledge only to realize I straight up don't have enough stamina

Can't do that if you are dying in one hit to late game bogoblins

That's fair, I quite liked using it when going for comfy Hyrule adventures and just rolling about, but if you're doing an outright low-health challenge run, you DO probably need to see that shit.

You can't die in one hit in BotW

stamina is at least (partially?) indicated by animations and heavy breathing sounds, etc. The amount of hearts you have left isn't nearly as clear without the UI.

Nothing will make this garbage game interesting.

I have no idea how this rumor spread, as you absolutely can die in one hit.

So should I go with hard mode or 3 hearts?

I'm actually about to do the same. Gonna start a Master Mode save. Any suggestions, like for OP, barring that I'm complete shit at the game (so I'll be upgrading heaets/armor, at the very least) to make it more immersive/engaging?
Also, is the camera glitch still in effect in master mode? The one that overwrites your normal mode pictures.

You cannot. Start the game up again and try it. You will always have at least 1/4 heart after an attack if you are at full health. Sometimes, there will be something else that damages you right after to take away that 1/4 heart, but the hit itself cannot kill you in one hit.

keep hud in pro mode the entire time
no fast travel
dude I've been replaying the game in master mode literally today, got one-shot by a guardian in the great plateau and got one-hit ko'd by the lynel there as well.

Go straight to Ganon after you get the glider

Save Hyrule as a Gerudo Vai.
You may only use Gerudo shields and weapons.
You may only wear the Vai outfit, and/or the Thunder Helm.

If you have no Gerudo weapons, you are limited to sticks.
If you have no Gerudo clothing, you are limited to naked.

Play on pro mode so you don’t have HUD. Fully immerse yourself.

You're playing it on Switch right? Record the footage and post it as webm. If you examine the footage closely you will see that there is always something that follows up that attack in a "one-hit-kill" situation.

So...

There are one hit kill situations ?

No. Because it's not one hit, it's one hit, and then falling off a cliff or into a fire.

If you die, you delete and start over from waking.

>two shot
10 hours in and it'll be a one-shot
past the beginning almost every enemy deals 3-4 hearts at least with basic arrows, you'd get completely blindsided at random and it'll stop being fun pretty quick

that's one of the issues with BotW, the whole combat system has built in bullshit that you HAVE to counter with cheesy mechanics like eating tons of food in combat or upgrading your armor or spamming bombs and hoping a lizalfos doesnt sneak up behind you and shoot arrows at you
if you take away the cheesy mechanics all you have is a bullshit combat system with no upsides

Even if you're wrong and you can definitely get one shot at 3 hearts, your argument is retarded. If you die instantly due to the aftermath of receiving a hit that is out of your control, it would still count as being one shotted.
It's like saying that it's not a smash that kills you in ultimate, it's hitting the boarder of the screen.

no, I'm playing on wii u. Just got shot by one arrow from a bokoblin and died instantly from full health (3 hearts). This was in master mode, but fairly sure the same applies in normal mode if the enemy has strong enough gear.

I’m playing currently with the following rules:
>starting hearts and stamina only
>pick up and use one weapon, bow, and shield at a time
>no upgrading clothes
>can only change clothes and eat non-bottled items at campfires/inns
>no item use during battles
>resting at night
>no champion abilities
>NO GLIDER (barring circumstances that demand it)

It makes the game as close to an ideal hard mode as possible and makes you approach challenges with a new perspective.

literally where are you pulling this from? Your ass?
it's not true in the slightest.

What are some kino locations in the game? First things that come to mind are the labyrinths and the survivor islands.

Hateno Village. I love that place and it gets even comfier when you have a fully upgraded home.

There's the mechanic that reduces you to a minimum of 1/4th heart left to prevent you from dying and spam food to recover

Combat definitely sucks for more than one enemy at any giving time.

Plus I'm still confused by how Hinox has hitboxes that sometimes work and sometimes dont

>user suddenly goes quiet

>play the same game but 300% slower

>There's the mechanic that reduces you to a minimum of 1/4th heart left to prevent you from dying and spam food to recover
this is false you faglord, you haven't even attempted to prove this claim in spite of others disproving it right in front of you.

Nope. If you have full hearts, you will always end up with a fraction of a heart after a single stroke, no matter how powerful.

>No fast travel
Fucking why? There's no proper survival elements and the autosave is going to save you if you accidentally get into a brouhaha, nevermind Link's default run speed.
Under the circumstance, if you do need to backtrack for any reason, what pleasure could possibly be derived from this?
>No upgrading hearts
Ok.
Again, I don't know what the point would be. Die in one hit and just reload right before the fight. Seems arbitrary. I like this idea better>no food during battles
Upgrade hearts, but restrict healing.

>All these attempts to make BotW immersive
What a shame they couldn't just make a proper adventure game. All your misguided attempts at making The Zelda Scrolls and they're defeated by the game's core design and mechanics.
on a related note, how are you going to take direct inspiration from Skyrim and then completely fuck up the execution?
Step up your fucking game, Aonuma, Jesus Christ.

People add self imposed challenges into every game, stop being so hysterical.

You fags need to calm down and drink your onions.

Im doing one too
>no divine beasts
>100% the collectopedia

What does a challenge have to do with immersion? You desperate are you to justify the meme opinions you repeat constantly?

>>No saving horses
B-but horses are friends!

play the game with your feet

>1)no hearty foods
Hearty foods are fine. Or well the idea of them are.
It's just weird as fuck that they fully heal you. What's so wrong with having some damage and yet gain yellow hearts ontop of that damage?

Just play Master Mode and stop grinding. I was surviving encounter to encounter without any extra supplies.

>3 hearts

But that's the only way to play the game

it is though? I hated early game because I was relying on the mechanic and kept losing quarter hearts to fall damage and then some faggot bokoblin pokes me with a club and I die instantly

>Getting oneshotted by everything
>Fun

Attached: 1481280405706opm.webm (854x480, 2.66M)

>webm shows two and a half hearts
>oneshot
user...

Upgrade hearts, dumbass

>Not paying attention
Anyway, once you upgrade your armor, number of hearts become inconsequential.
inb4 >upgrading armor

2 and three-quarter hearts actually
>it is though?
yes, see also start a new save (quicker if you do so in master mode) and try it yourself, like I literally just did.

Everything pretty reliably kills you in one hit on Master Mode until you upgrade the endgame stuff. There is literally nothing wrong with healing in the middle of combat as long as you're not a hoarding faggot who thinks preparing meals for 10 minutes is fun.

>he isn't replaying it right this second

Attached: WiiU_screenshot_TV_01C95.jpg (1280x720, 488K)

I never said healing was wrong, but even if you upgrade your hearts you'll end up healing midfight anyway, I upgraded my health on my first run and it felt too easy, Link is too OP.

I've already beaten it once on my Switch and once on CEMU. I can't decide which version of it to replay.

CEMU
>Nicer graphics
>Shorter load times

Switch
>Portable
>The motion control puzzles actually work

no cooking. get your meals from saving people.
