Video games died when the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii generation started.
The old guard of video game enthusiasts were cast out and replaced by BUSINESS MAN. Production costs grew so high you could no longer take risks with games, everything is about maximising profit by making wide appeal games. Creativity was crushed, originality bred out, money money money. There isn't a single legit 10/10 game released since then, just half finished "I made this is secret while massa wasn't looking" diamonds in the rough like Dragon's Dogma. There isn't a single game made in the last 13 years that can stand toe to toe with Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid 3, Ico, GTA San Andreas, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII or Wind Waker.
Hollow Knight? Kenshi? Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead?

Bad, bad and bad game.
Let me make it easy for you: Every indie game is trash not worth anyone's time when there's plenty of PS1, PS2 and DS games to play that are real video games.

Yep, you could have a AA niche game; now it's either B niche, AAA standardized (a.k.a. all the same) or mobile gambling.
