So when does this game become fun?

Bump

At the beginning pretty much, once you get to Japan.

I'm just past Umi-boze.

You're deep into the fun part then.

It just feels very flat, like I'm missing something from the game mechanics.

At the start. Then it gets less fun as you realise how repetitive it is and you're expected to grind the game multiple times for the same loot but with higher number values.

Attached: 1362996715011.gif (277x193, 1.14M)

It's always fun unless you do side missions

It just feels like it's bait out attack, punish, repeat 10000X

Nah, you are probably PC gamer.
This is console-centric game, this is their level of high end gameplay.

I'm playing on PS4.

souls style games aren't fun only neckbeard NEETs who scream GIT GUD while stuffing their faces with cheatos think souls type games are good

Attached: the joo.jpg (1536x2048, 290K)

NG+++++++++++++++++++ is the real game and everything before it might as well be holding your hand.

What's your build?

Never. Fuck this game.

im stuck in okatsu i have 6 sloth talisman and even with that the constant movement is impossible im playing with dual sword any advice to beat this bitch

I haven't settled on anything yet since it's my first time playing but at the moment I'm using the Kusarigama.

What were you expecting?

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH
Nioh shitters BTFO

are you using ki pulse
are you changing stances
have you tried all the different weapons
have you used different skills

I said build not weapon.

>get to 2nd level
>already experience 80% of what the game has to offer
>still expected to play through 5 difficulties

Something a lot more fast paced and closer to Ninja Gaiden.

Yes to all of them.

I don't know the late mechanics enough to start a build I'm just levelling my weapon stats.

Kusarigama can carry you a lot. great range and multi-hit.
Odachi is the best weapon for beginners: range of the spear, poisebreak and damage of the axe and you can combo from stance to stance.
Anyway, build doesn't matter on the first difficulty.
You will get better equipment on each new mission on way of the samurai.
Only starting from Way of the Demon you should start to actually building your character.

>game doesn't start until you beat it 4 times
Why do Japs think this is good game design?

>japs
Multiple playthroughs are pretty common in those games since D2.

People say there is a model viewer in the game but I can't seem to find it anywhere, is it unlocked later?

Maybe because I played like 200 hours of mostly Spear and 1kat but holy shit when Odachi came out it took me FOREVER to adjust to it

When you realise ninjutsu and magic are too cheesy

Odachi is that good? is it broken?

If the bosses didn't feel like they took forever to kill then it wouldn't be as bad using these but they are pretty much essential.

Bring up the menu on the world map. It's under 'journal' or something like that.

Only thing that bothers me is the fact that every weapon feels like easy mode. No matter what weapon type I'm using, I'm still plowing through most of the enemies. A big amount of enemies die before they can retaliate.
Thankfully juggling enemies is fun with spear.

I'm playing the third DLC and just found that out.
Weakness spell + Storm Kunai = dead bosses.

I haven't used Sloth though because everyone says it's too cheap.

>centipede boss AI
oh man hahahahahaha

Thanks user.

Its fun for the first 20 hours which is how long it should’ve been. Who the fuck wants to play this shit for 60 hours?

Unless you like Path of Exile, Diablo 2 and Bloodborne controls, it probably won't ever be fun. It's geared to those kind of people. When you finish the game, you actually unlock difficulties at add more enemy variety, it also adds two completely new rarity types. You also get a randomly generated dungeon mode. Some people never get this far because they simply don't like diablo-esque gameplay.

Game would've been better if it didn't pretend to be a hard skillful action game, all those mechanics are just bloat and you never actually use them that much because the best way to play is to just use your best special move and either one shot enemies or play passively and bait&punish

If you aren't enjoying the game at this point then my advise is, drop it and refund.
I'm sick and tired of seeing Soulsborne fans trying a game they aren't going to enjoy because journos said it was "Japanese Dark Souls".

it's fun until you get to way of the strong, then it feels like a grindfest

The biggest mistake was turning this into Diablo bullshit in the first place, and then advertising it as Souls x Ninja Gaiden.

As usual, Yea Forums sees the Diablo loot and immediately says that the game requires grinding because they get killed too easily.

They never advertised it as a souls-like or another ninja gaiden or a mix between the two. That's just what people thought it was going to be for some fucking reason. If anything, it's advertised likea musou.

>advertising it as Souls x Ninja Gaide
This never happened.

I hate the diablo loot because it undermines and invalidates the combat system, combined with the awful enemy design in WotN, so cheese reigns supreme.

They advertised it as a technical action RPG with deep combat and all of the knockoff Souls elements were evident from day 1, and that's the impression everyone got from the alpha/beta because the loot was pretty low impact, and people actually engage with the game's mechanics. Then the full game comes out and it turns out to be weeb Diablo, which it wasn't advertised as at ALL.

it's not that you get killed easily because by the time you get to wotn everything kills you easily, the issue is that you do no damage with garbage gear

Soulsborne fans are retarded and they think that the world revolves around them.
Case in point:

Maybe if they had been a bit more clear about what kind of game they were trying to make people wouldn't have been so angry. As it is the game feels like a bait and switch.

Yup, retarded.

How many weapons in Nioh actually use more than one move? As far as I can tell katana and dual swords just spam their iai attacks, axe spams whirlwind, tonfas shoot (and suck ass) and kusarigama spams blade spin.

>that's the impression everyone got from the alpha/beta because the loot was pretty low impact
No it wasn't. I played the alpha and there was loot everywhere. Nowhere did they ever say claim it was just like the souls games or a ninja gaiden. It was always fans jumping to conclusion. Team Ninja made it? Must be another ninja gaiden! Same controls like souls games? Must be clone of dark souls!

He says without presenting any arguments of his own

spear?

Those are pretty logical conclusions to make. More logical at least than assuming the game would be 90% build autism.

Tonfa's are a high skill ceiling weapon. If you spam one move, then no wonder you think they suck. They're extremely versatile and you have to keep comboing into difference stances. Easily the highest DPS in the game, right next to Kusarigama's Reaper.

None of them. The gameplay isn't really the focus in Nioh as much as the grind and build creation, just like every other Diablo-like. You find your attack to spam, and you make that as powerful as possible.

It's not their DPS that's the problem, it's that combos aren't actually viable because you either don't get long enough openings or enemies just break out of your combo

They also can't break guard at all

>kusarigama spams blade spin
Not anymore. Blade Spin got nerfed.

>get a preview of the game for free and way ahead of the release, as well as gameplay videos
>"It's just logical to assume it's NOT going to be like this"
Are you retarded? When Blizzard made WoW, did you automatically assume that Hearthstone is also a mmorpg, despite seeing evidence that it is just a card game?

>Those are pretty logical conclusions to make
No, not at all.

>More logical at least than assuming the game would be 90% build autism.
This is a filthy lie. You can go through the game and its NG+ iterations by just caring about the ATK value, just like on any action RPG.

That's fair, my information is pretty outdated. So what does it use now?

I don't know why Nioh gets singled out for spamming single moves when that's how every single action game ends up.

It baffles your mind when the developers announce that it is an action RPG and some imbecile assumes that it will be like Ninja Gaiden. If you have experience with both you already know that they're going to be different because action RPGs and plain action games like NG or DMC are complete opposites in both design and philosophy.

if you said souls games you'd be right but action games like DMC and ninja gaiden live on their move variety

>They also can't break guard at all
ever heard of high stance, my dude? it guard breaks on every heavy hit. you can even guard break in mid stance combos by going demon dance and pulverize.

I'm not sure if there's a new go-to skill for kusa, Most of the info I find on the internet is old.

How the fuck is DmC and Ninja Gaiden related to souls games and Nioh?

>every single action game

DMC manages to force you to play in a varied way due to style ranks and a general encouragement to look cool, otherwise the games would be incredibly easy to choose and break. Ninja Gaiden basically only really boils down to using a handful of tools unless you handicap yourself, and Karma actually rewards you for spamming UTs compared to DMC punishing you for spam via lower rewards.

>choose
Cheese, sorry for being a filthy phoneposter

>counter strike is an action game, therefore I will compare it to nioh
wtf where are my assault rifles, nioh???

the difference here is that you are at least given the viable option to use different moves. in nioh you can do whatever you want at the start but by the endgame you need to have a focused build or you just don't do anything. souls doesn't have variety since all weapons have 2 attacks

It's really not that hard to figure out what works best, and once you fall into that routine it's very hard to go back and use shit that you know isn't worth using. They can still be a lot of fun despite this, but very, very few action games give you any true "variety" to work with. It's all just about finding what works best and breaking the game as hard as possible with it.

when you high stance axe and cut quarters of bosses hp with one triangle attack

but my point is that in those other games you CAN use non-optimal strategies and still be able to beat the game, in nioh by the time you get to way of the wise you can't do anything but one specific strategy that you build towards.

you have seen every enemy in game at the point of third level, every level is village or cave and you drain half of boss health with weapon art, that ruined nioh for me

Sure, you can, but I don't see why you would. I don't see the fun in that. Why downgrade yourself if instead you could try and find even better ways to play?

>axe
thats not how you spell tonfa

youtu.be/x4VkjxXFU9o?t=17

because people enjoy different playstyles, maybe you like minmaxing stuff and some other people enjoy limiting themselves

>people think this is good combat

>he doesn't min max his favourite playstyle in order to achieve the highest killing efficiency possible

Attached: 62341252.png (599x593, 346K)

sounds like you're not having fun, should probably do something you enjoy instead

Nioh doesn't have "playstyles"

All I can say is that I feel sorry for you. Must be hard in life only conforming to what other people do and say. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Attached: 1512671969668.jpg (1276x1920, 700K)

>axe spams whirlwind
If you wanna die, sure. Medium charge, high light-light-heavy, and the basic medium and high stance attacks are all great and have different uses.

youtube.com/watch?v=bxDKrRdIPfo
can somebody explain how to lock onto enemies with your ranged weapons like this?

It's 2019 and nerds are still trying to force people to listen to metal by putting it in every video they upload

Attached: 3988.png (500x499, 318K)

pretty sure there's an auto aim affix for weapons you can get

>tfw no gameplay video with bubblegum bimbo pop instead
youtube.com/watch?v=N2haRSNr08M

ITS NOT FAIR WHY IS IT ALWAYS METAL OR TRAP

Attached: 1445778086168.jpg (618x564, 70K)

I had a great deal of fun trying to kill bosses for people before they died. I had the thunder doggo down to a science and people would always find ways to rush into obvious attacks and die.

It’s just s low effort bootlegd Souls game. Good thing Sekiro is releasing soon and will show how to do a proper samurai game

I started having fun when I finally ditched the tonfa for the superweebmax dragon ninja sword shit

>hurrrrrrrr game good cuz hard !
>but me not darrksoul baby me like da undaground weeb game!
absolutely retarded

What a meme that you are. How does the fact that the biggest character-action franchises make their home on console and not PC feel, oh mighty master race? How's that Ninja Gaiden Black playthrough coming along?

umm sweaty nioh is obviously a better game you just have to play through it 27 times first to get to the real game

sekiro is going to be soulsborne bullshit
ghost of sashimi will be the true samurai video game

Nioh gets worse the more playthroughs you do though

>How does the fact that the biggest character-action franchises make their home on console and not PC feel, oh mighty master race?
But PC already has Bayonetta, MGR, and all the good DMC games, so what else is there?

>nioh
>playthroughs

Might help if you actually played the game instead of pretending. Nioh doesn't have "playthroughs" and it doesn't have a "ng+".

killer is dead was solid action game
also on pc

isn't sashimi made by gaijin dogs
I don't trust it

Ghost of Sushima

Ninja Gaiden, it's legit good shit and it's a real shame that it's trapped on Xbox.

From the first moment you take control of your character. If you don't enjoy it, drop it.

>he cares about efficiency instead of going maximum style on his enemies

If you're past the first island and still not having fun, you will never have fun in this game because it's just more of the same. Your moveset gets expanded a little bit but I guess you just don't like the core combat.

What the fuck are you on about? Drooling retard

there are no subsequent playthroughs in nioh. you just unlock the difficulty slider on completing it once and thats it

>what are equivalents
Way of the Strong and onwards are essentially NG+ with the difference that you can go back to NG at any point.

Is Nioh fun?

decent combat but mediocre in just about every other aspect

The equivalent is it being a difficulty setting. Nothing more, nothing less. NG+ and playthrough imply that you are locked to that difficulty for the remainder of the game, rather than per session or temporarily.

I am the point in the game where fights with two bosses (nobunaga) and 8+ mobs are starting to appear and because I don't use magic/ninjutsu, the game is becoming more and more tedious and boring, because I have to run around in circles around them and strike them occasionaly. Ehhh

That pretty much sums up the game.

This shit mission where you fight nobunager+giganigga+8 other revenants is one of the worst in the game.
Bonus mission with ninetails+hideyori is also another shitty one.

the fun of inventory-bloating ?
