Can we have an MMO thread?
What are you all playing at the moment? Any recommendations? I'm looking for one to play.

Nothing worth playing has released in the past decade. Genre is fucking DEAD.
>what are you playing
Nothing, because I believe at this point I've tried everything, including a bunch of shitty Korean and a few Chinese MMOs. As Said, Genre is pretty much dead. The handful of titles that have released purely focus on PvP and just die out shortly after release.
P99 is the best mmo experience out currently
I’m trying to get into black desert, but it’s so overwhelming. I don’t even know how to fish
waiting for lost ark
I like XIV. Looking forward to official Gunblade class.
Revelation Online is f2p on steam, it's kind of like TERA 2.0. BDO is also good if you like TERA combat.
I always lose interest when the sex is preplanned and not spontaneous

I want a good western MMO again, the degradation of the genre in the west is killing me
I can't get behind chinese and korean shit, the culture is simply too different, too competitive, and more often than not anti-consumer.
People shit on TORtanic, and rightfully so, but I'm gonna be honest bro, after 4000 hours and exhausting literally all content in that game, I fucking miss it, I want another one.
I want another fucking swtor, it was truly, honestly, the last good western MMO. At least after the fucking shit GW2 pulled, christ I'll never forgive them. Admittedly, I don't like "action combat" systems GIVE ME INTERESTING BAR ROTATIONS GOD DAMNIT I'M NOT A ZOOMER LEMME FUCKING SPEC SHIT NOT ONLY HAVE 8 ABILITIES THATS NOT THE POINT OF MMO'S FUCK
Any promising upcoming releases?
Pantheon looks like it might be something, there's also Ashes of Creation.
>too competitive
Huh? Are we trying out the same games? Most KR shit I play usually ends up veering towards whale land and a steady but sure reduction in anything remotely competitive.
Did you try wildstar
mmos built entirely on player agency and player run economies and worlds and politics are always really cool in concept, but in theory they fucking suck
there's always that one guild that poopsocks their way to the top and has the entire server in an iron grip, and no one else is able to compete or enjoy the game, so it eventually just dies in a few months, the only way eve was able to survive this long is because there's only a single server
My point is relative, as an (((australian))) I can't PvP, I have yet to play a korean or chinese game experience that doesn't have some ping reliant dodge mechanic or otherwise i-frame mechanic that I can use myself, while I get zoomed on by people who live closer to data centers.
PvP matters to me, not as much as the overall PvE experience, but if I can't compete with other players and earn rewards only to be found in PvP, fuck, not to mention games like B&S which is only pvp
Don't wanna drone on but homie, it just aint it
Too late if he didn't. It got shut down. I thought it was pretty bland.
Combat felt like I was hitting the air. Most Action MMOs have that problem.
I had a trash PC back when it was in swing, so I never got to try it nah dude
Was wildstar any good in the end? I heard it had problems retaining players with it's sparse and repetitive end game
just play FFXIV
Play FFXIV. It's the best MMO currently out. Subscriber numbers and the overall quality of the game are both steadily rising with each expansion and the devs have legitimate passion for the product.
Besides XIV, the only other MMO remotely worth playing is GW2. It's B2P and the horizontal progression system is refreshing. Everything else is dying, already dead, or P2W Korean Gook-Shit. Don't sell your soul to the Gooks. I have a friend who plays BnS and legitimately hates it, but can't bring himself to quit because he's spent thousands of dollars on the game over the years. Don't be that guy.
I've been playing Neverwinter and having fun with it since I found an actually active guild. Took an eternity to get my gear to a decent point though.
>been playing FFXIV for years now
>want to play something new
>no other MMOs has been able to catch my attention
FFXIV isnt even that good but its still interesting enough to keep my attention. ive tried a bunch of other mmos that have come out in the past 3 years or so but they are all fucking trash.
the only game that kinda got me away from FF for a bit was wildstar but that was mostly because i found a good community with some cool people and we mainly focused on the player housing aspect of the game.
i really wanted the game to succeed but it was plagued with way too many problems. especially how they kept wanting the vanilla wow audience for some reason.
>Le wacky anime simulator
I got max WAR and hated every second of the story, combat, the world and everything in between expect for that revolutionary crafting system which I fucking adore.
I've had people tell me "Just ignore all the anime shit bro enjoy the gameplay experience" which I don't think is a bad one at all. But I can't get behind any of it. Art, dialogue, hell the best classes with the most dope gear are expansion locked, which with an older title is to be expect but...
Shit dude, I tried to like it I really did but I just don't vibe with it, my main complaint is the combat doesn't fell real for a game that takes itself so seriously at times
>Here comes a walking god, you and 39 dudes gotta take it down WoL!
>Sweet this is gonne be ebic
>It's just swishy particle effects with lighty firecrackers everywhere
Can we have some MMOs first? How many times are we gunna get WoW clones before these monkeys realise they don't sell?
You can try FFXIV for free. It has a free unlimited trial up until level 30 or so and if you happen to have amazon prime / twitch prime you can redeem a code to get the base game with a 30-day sub for free.
It's a big theme park MMO and doesn't really get interesting combat- and mechanics-wise until at least level 50. You have to like the main story quest or else that means skipping dozens of hours worth of cutscenes with fetch quests in between. It's better at what it does than WoW has been in recent years, although that's not too high a benchmark.
I've recently resubbed after quitting shortly after launch and been enjoying getting back into it. I'm mixing it up with some RO on a pserver called OriginsRO.
I can't bring myself to enjoy XIV again, it's the most bland MMO out there where even gook-shit can be more exciting. Also its PVP scene is dead and will forever be dead because trannies hate competition.
>the only way eve was able to survive this long is because there's only a single server
Isn't eve also fucking massive?
It's so bland and there's no real sense of a world at large, it's just a dungeon running simulator at the end of the day and more and more it's catering to whales because they don't care if a cash shop mount costs 30 bucks, they'll buy it and they'll even buy it for 5 of their alts.
I enjoyed Neverwinter, but can't play anymore. My PC has a weird bug with Neverwinter. Any movement will only last 5 seconds and then the key won't be recognized until you press it again. So hold W to move forward and it'll last 5 seconds. Probably the most annoying bug I've ever experienced.
I liked that Neverwinter had user created dungeons and I like that the combat wasn't as floaty as most action MMOs because they root the characters to the ground when they attack.
>Don't wanna drone on but homie, it just aint it
For a start you can just not live in fucking Australia.
>ff14 email saying theres new items and gear
>oh ok cool lets have a lo-
>mogstation
>everytime
its fucking ridiculous
ArcSys is pretty good with customer service stuff, try filling out a complaint form. I had a bug where some in game menus didn't function correctly and they fixed it in a couple days
This is every MMO ever. The PvE content is never going to be anything more than dodge red circles.
You guys say FFXIV is bland, but it's somehow managed not only to survive, but thrive in a market that is currently geared towards F2P or B2P games. Its only other meaningful competition (WoW) is bleeding subscribers while it gains them with every new expac. So obviously your opinions are in the minority, but that's okay. To each their own I suppose.
>B-BUT THE CASH SHOP COSMETICS TEAM ISN'T THE GAMEPLAY TEAM!
>every year more and more resources get put into the cosmetic team making more cash shop gear while the gameplay team seems to slowly dwindle down to nothing, the server populations eventually get lower and lower most likely due to weird ass cashshit items completely breaking the games art direction and server merges take place but only after each server fucking languishes on extremely low pop thereby killing any potential population even harder
>muh subscribers
None of that means anything if the experience is outright boring. Is Fortnite the best game ever because the whole planet plays it? It isn't, it's shit and XIV is also shit.
Was playing XIV until recently but I got burnt out with the shitty controls, shit pvp and the community being shit
So now I'm just passively playing Nioh while waiting for WoW classic to release. Also plan to play a bit of Kurtzpel with a friend when it releases just to dick around doing retarded Kirito cosplays.
>dodge the red circles! move through the mechanics! uh oh, now you gotta DPS rush the boss otherwise a Very Bad Thing will happen.
This is why cash shops will fundementally ruin any MMO they're implemented in.
>We -could- make cool new armors and weapons for players to craft, farm, and trade for
>OR we could put new items on the cosmetic cash shop for $5 a pop and whales will buy it
And people wonder why their favorite MMOs fucking die as soon as they implement a cash shop and are regarded as irredeemable shit
Even fucking WOW subs tanked after they introduced the sparkle pony.
Is Runescape any fun? I've always wanted to play it, but I'm too shy to make friends.
It's a huge timesink because of all the skills but it's fun. Everyone complains about RS3 but it honestly doesn't seem that different to me
Still the most 3rd most popular genre behind fps and mobas.
The only reason it succeeded where all the other WoW clones failed is that it has a big name behind it, which is also the reason why WoW itself succeeded.
Waiting for Lost Ark NA. Played on KR servers for a month and the game is great. Going to be even better with low ping.
Kurtzpel was fun from what I played in the last CBT, but I'm worried there is going to be a lack of content (aside from grinding PvP rating).
Also wishing Albion Online would add more content. The game has been out for quite a while and the content flow has been pretty slow, and disappointing thus far.
R-remember me?
it's still shite from what i hear
Potatoes are for diapering.
It's now F2P on steam. Anybody tried it lately?
There are no alternatives to WoW.
WoW just superior in every aspect, especially PvE.
I tried a lot of MMOs and a can confirm that WoW has the best class balance of them.
I tried WoW twice and uninstalled it the same evening. The combat feels like piss, I wasn't able enjoy it after playing TERA (even though literally everything else in TERA drags it down)
WoW has been complete braindead horseshit for years. I would rather play F2P shit like Tera than play nu-WoW.
shoo shoo, back to your containment general with you
classic wow when it comes out and then pantheon or saga of lucimia whenever (if) they get released
It's not even worth the precious time even if it is free.
It's fucking dead, bro. RS3 is declining in players while OSRS just keeps shuffling people more and more into fucking minigames. Noncombat skills are only used for minigames and combat is only used for slayer/raids(which are basically minigames too).
Shut the fuck up and post hot High Elf TERA sluts
The big problem is that they need an insane amount of content to last
WoW is a fake mmorpg. Even from the very beginning it was loaded with "features" that reduce the importance of player choice and other players, and it's only gotten worse since then.
What crack are you smoking? Wow's class balance is one of it's biggest issues.
I'm going to try revelation because I have literally nothing else to play and it has to be at least better than bless which I put 1,000 hours into - a testament to how desperate I am for a MMO
Single player games pretending to be mmos need an insane amount of content. Actual mmos use emergent gameplay to improve their longevity.
They really don't. I just want to log into TERA and sit outside one of the towns and actually interact with people. I loved all the low level PvP that would happen and also being able to protect lower level players from other max levels who'd try and gank them.
I can't believe they'd make the skill that enables PvP restricted to max levels only on the PvP server.
I can't believe they'd release a classic server but make it PvE only.
The pvp scene is dead because the pvp is fucking ass
As tank main i can't agree with you.
A tried ESO and XIV, both of them have worse tanking than WoW.
Blizzard found the perfect balance between damage income and outcome.
thnk u BigBenBear
excuse me?
That's a totally different thing from class balance though, that's how the classes FEEL to play. Class balance is how viable one class is compared to another. I strongly disagree with you on your definition's front too though.
BBB was an Amani that killed gankers
Call me when tanking involves actually protecting your team instead of just abusing intentionally broken AI.
I'm juggling between my weekly poop socking on WoW, spare time grinding on OSRS mobile on my Ironman, and very casually playing FFXIV With my 5'1 qt brown gf
Probably gonna let my wow sub run out though until classic and if that shit flops I might stop playing it entirely
are there any mmos where what you do in them actually matters
no
XIVs balance even worse that in wow.
Their meta is savage as fuck
Any PVP centric MMO where progression is getting stronger and becoming known through its social political structure.
It's dead.
>Monk that low
He must be really shit at the job
A few years back Runescape had some world events where player participation determined how the lore would move forward including shit like Gods dying
Pretty sure good chunks of the community hated it because it was mostly one sided. Probably why most mmos try to stay away from that
Why do people even parse on this game? Its literally one of the most casual and forgiving mmos available. People have the hardest content on farm right when it releases.
Phantasy Star Online 2
I used to be a "Cash Shop is fine as long as it's only cosmetics." fag
Then I became a "Cash Shop is tolerable as long as the cosmetics aren't overbearing." fag.
Now I've seen the light. There is no good Cash Shop. A Cash Shop of any kind means some kind of focus is going to be put on it at some point. Whales cannot help themselves. They have more money than sense and if there's a cool armor set on the Cash Shop they will buy it for all of their characters ten times over and ruin the game slowly for everyone else.
Everyone must see. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A NON-INTRUSIVE CASH SHOP! All micro transactions will lead to the game dying quicker. I used to be someone who would spout, "SLIPPERY SLOPE FALLACY." every time I heard these claims. But it's not a slippery slope anymore it's documented fact.
Are there any MMOs with non braindead levelling? Preferably with organic non-instanced PvP while leveling too. Every MMO I try feels like I'm borderline AFK for hours and hours while I desperately hope to unlock more than two or three abilities or encounter anything remotely tense.
That's not because of poor balance though, that's because MCH isn't fun. Your image even shows that MCH does slightly more damage than BRD
> Why do people even parse on this game?
Cause of meta.
If you are playing off meta - you would be kicked.
The thing is that you really can forget about meta only when you are playing with full stack of friends who agreed to play with your non-meta job.
If you are use DF or PF, or even chat, then when you play on non-meta job t is DISRESPECT to others.
For example, we all know that WAR is MUCH better as tank than DRK in every way. In terms of damage and mitigation for example.
So if you go somewhere with random people and you chose DRK as your tank, then it is DISRESPECT to others because you lower chances to success and even if you succeed it will take much more time.
Meta exists for random groups because it is the mos effective to play the game. If you don't play meta with strangers, then you really show them how you give zero fucks about their time, life and feelings. And that is toxic behavior.
Do you drive to work in the morning? Or do you run a mile, catch 2 buses and then grab a cab even though you have a functioning vehicle?
People do things in general because it's easier to do them. If you are trying to do something that is not that simple, why on earth would you make something more difficult for not only yourself or others? It is pure toxicity and should be punished.
You can't bring bunk players with bunk builds and expect good things to happen, I'm sorry that's just not how it works. People are not going to be happy if they are failing because one player has specifically decided to not do their best.
If you want to run content with off meta builds then you need to ask your friends and play exclusively with them. It's that simple.
Because nobody wants to tolerate toxicity from others. And playing off meta IS toxicity.
I'm just playing BDO casually. It's P2W but the game is pretty fun to play when you're bored of dungeon tool and dodge bad circles simulator mmos.
Waiting for Lost Ark.
t.Expert roulette hero
>trying to clear alphascape v3 at least once before bed
>it's now past 3am
The problem is because share holders and investors aren't willing to risk new ideas. There's no reason that all raid bosses have to be "dodge the red circles" like they are now. Where's the sea serpent boss where all the players are on a boat chasing it through the ocean, with some players manning the sails, making repairs, and driving the ship while others fight it as best they can all while it zips through the water constantly switching between attacking and evading. It will never happen because it's easier to flow chart a boss in a flat room.
All bosses these days are.
>boss starts, will use a mechanic that hurts occasionally, it will be some sort of beam, cone, or targeted circle attack
>boss summons adds that make the fight more difficult, these must always be focused
>OR if it's an addless boss, boss takes massively reduced damage for a short time and players have to do a mechanic or dodge damage in the mean time
>boss gets to 40% hp and gains several mechanics which are like older ones, but harder
>boss must be killed in 10 minutes or less or else they'll do their big damage and kill everyone
>people actually getting fooled by this bait
Meanwhile, he posted this in /xivg/ and immediately got shit on.
> >it's now past 3am
It is 10:23 on my watch.
No one cares about your timezone.
My buddies and I will often try free 2 play mmos every couple of weekends or so just to fuck around on. Bless was the last one we did and holy fuck was it ass. Even cheap chinese shit was more fun. It suffers from the same issues a lot of MMOs in the past 10 or so years suffer from. The primary way to level is to run from quest line to quest line, but they don't spice it up, it's just, talk > kill > run > talk > kill > run. The class design is massively lacking as well, everything is so uninspired. Big axe character gets charging moves and whirlwinds. Archer character gets aimed shots and backflip shots. Same old same old. It's just so bleh.
Do these shit games actually turn a profit or are they just designed to scam investors by looking just like something that has already succeeded?
You realize that DPS trinity balance is what ruins MMOs right?
No I think that's just what "hardcore" XIV players tell themselves after they spend 1 day a week clearing all of the endgame content then 6 days afking or playing house/dressup waiting for reset
I love the game and all but it's a joke competitive wise and you're bad or in denial if you think any differently. I've cutting edge raided on wow and savage/extreme raided on xiv and they are two completely different worlds
>TESO finally gets Necromancers
>official trickster will forever be dead
Thank you. MMOs are their best when every class is a niche, not just in playstyle, but utility. The problem is autists like Tigole took over the MMO market and now everything conforms to that model.
>old mmo has warrior, paladin, cleric, druid, mage, necromancer, rogue, ranger; two tanks, two healers, two magic dps, and two physical dps
>the mage does more damage than the necro, but the necro can do light healing and his pets handle adds real well and act as additional targets, the necro also solos much better
>the warrior takes less damage and generates more threat than the paladin, but the paladin can heal and buff allies in such a way that makes them desirable even if you already have a warrior, also they kill undead real good
Nowadays games are just
>mage and necro do equal damage, the necros pets are worthless, and the necro doesn't have any life transferring abilities
>warrior and paladin tank same, paladin skills are holy light, warrior skills are gore and blood, but do the same things
Yeah man, if you came across somebody getting PK'd in TERA you could help them out and make their day a little better.
Whenever I think about playing an MMORPG this is typically how I decide not to play: If I can envision exactly how a session is going to go rather than there being some dynamic element to it like getting PK'd, coming across a group of headhunters looking for PKs or even coming across a group of players hunting mobs and joining up with them to have fun.
If I can predict what's going to happen when I sit down to play a game (oh I'll log in, queue for dungeon, play with what might as well be bots, then hit my daily cap and log off) I'm not playing that game.
Is Runescape still the only MMO where you can steal from poor third worlders for your own entertainment, potentially causing them to go without food for a day in real life?
I am not talking about competitive game, i am talking about DF and PF groups where meta is the most important and meta's influence on these groups is significant.
>The problem is because share holders and investors aren't willing to risk new ideas.
Pantheon might be good then because there is no publisher behind them and they're fully funded.
These guys know what's up.
A world that has its own rules (that are not necessarily designed with the player's quality of life in mind), ability to have classes that have their own niches and different party comps that are suited to tackling different challenges and a solid community (that arises naturally from the former two things) are what's necessary for a good MMO, not "muh raids".
Here's the thing. I'm excited about Pantheon, but if they stick to their "exactly like EQ" design philosophy you can pretty much throw interesting boss design out the window. Granted I'm not interested in the game for cool boss fights, but open world raid bosses will never be able to have the complexity that an instanced boss does.
The worst thing is when MMORPG developers start catering for some weird fucking meta like the inane reason for every DPS class to have the exact fucking same damage output as every other DPS class.
What the fuck is point of this? So what if one DPS objectively does the best damage over every other one?
This weird sense of wanting to have every class effectively balanced to be the same as every other one is pure cancer.
Then bots just rule the game, baka
But why stop there?
>make every single class DPS, because fuck class identities
Hey, someone else that understands why old MMOs still had social aspects to them.
>complexity
you mean ooga ooga 1,2,3 dodge the red circle, do the little puzzle and DPS DPS DPS to break his shield before he can finish charging his spell or else you all die! level of "complexity"?
Bosses don't need to have complexity, they just need to be cool and have the potential to fuck players up, albeit fairly. I loved in XIV during some Fates you'd have bosses do giant, decently telegraphed, AOE attacks that easily one shot most DPS around them if the players weren't paying attention. You'd have so much revives to do if you were a healer and there was a real sense of danger even though it's such a casual game.
just play GW2 if you need a few hundred hours to burn
The motivation is basically to avoid people being excluded from groups for playing something that is "not meta", but appeals to them for flavor or gameplay.
Except their solution is usually the dumbest one possible aka the stuff you described. Instead of varying content in such a way that different classes have their own moments to shine, they try and appease parseniggers by making everything exactly the same numerically.
>What the fuck is point of this?
Player skill, no, really back when I used to play I was within the top10 best Monks on the legacy server and behind me there were thousands of monks ranging from decent to outright bad. If every class could output the same damage, what's left is who's behind it.
If you care about being the best why aren't you playing pvp?
Easily the worst MMO on the market, both in terms of graphics and gameplay.
I have no idea how people play it as anything other than a side game you return to every couple months, realize it's the same boring shit it's always been, then uninstall again the same night.
Because everybody was bad and didn't know how to play?
cringe
I did
Allods online did that recently. Granted, it's more than just that, but it still feels kinda shit to not be able to be a tank explicitly.
I believe MMO's are dead thanks to WoW, they lost all their charm when they tried so hard to copy WoW aesthetically. Ragnarok Online was the last charming MMO, it was the perfect mix of cute, edgy, anime and originality, fuck this gay earth.
What point is there in making a game an MMO? You're just wasting server resources to have tons of people who will never interact being able to see each other.
That shit is still alive? I remember having fun with the 3 midget psychic classes.
How dead is it nowaday?
osrs is okay. pvm/skilling is still for autists and pking has been reduced to clanning, rushing at revs or cookie cutter builds in pvp worlds. I only play for pvp but am tired as hell from the retards that pk with 30m in gear and only risk 200k. Its pretty fucking terrible. Currently taking a long break d/t lack of pk trips with /osg/ clan chat.
oh and its slowly becoming further and further into ezscape. The big risks you took back in the day where you died, meaning you probably lost most of your shit, is gone. youre damn near always safe and have little to genuinely fear. all the hardcore is gone and ironman is for actual retards. why play an mmo if youre going to play "solo"? its a terrible game actually. dont do it.
I'm coming back to ffxiv because a bunch of friends are getting on board but I seriously doubt its ability to hold my attention to 70 again
I would be playing GW2 but my internet has been garbage since moving and XIV is the only mmo that can be played on a shitty connection
PKing in Runescape is literally just griefing now. It's never worth your time to PK in the wilderness and people only do it for the thrill of bothering other people. And it's never going to change because of reddit no-voters. Also
>picking out the anti-DDoSing mechanic of all things to call "ezscape"
>play a potato to be cute
>early armor set is a bikini
You should try Nova RO it's the worlds most populated RO private server. It's got a bunch of neat features that make it much more fun than regular servers. It's free you should try it!
I'D FUCKING KILL FOR A GOOD MMO
>The handful of titles that have released purely focus on PvP and just die out shortly after release.
That what happens to fighting games as well, it's fun for a short while, then people discover the meta, then people abuse the fuck out of the meta and then people stop playing.
>kurtzpel announced
>hype
>not an mmo
>also shit
when will it end
The only way an MMO can be good is if everybody who plays it gets injected with a chemical that makes them retarded.
>you're stupid
>but you can enjoy trash now
>Max 2 player pve
>Max 2 player pvp
>pvp focused game with shit balance
I don't know user but I want it to end soon, also yeah why the fuck are they calling it an mmo, hub rooms only have 50 people in them and lags like hell because they're all around the giant table.
Literally the only thing I care about is this game coming out. I want a new Everquest. In the meantime I've been switching between ESO and project1999. I just want a high fantasy mmo that makes my imagination run wild like it did when I was growing up playing Everquest. God, I would stare at that box art so much imagining how cool that shit would be in real life.
>banked all my hopes and dreams and cash on Bless
>flops
>Stuck in FFXIV and no hope in sight
redpill me on FFXIV people shill it to me as the best mmo on the market.
I'm playing FFXIV. It's fucking boringass garbage, but I managed to make a beautiful waifu and it helps pass time and forget how shitty my life is
>people shill it to me as the best mmo on the market.
They probably aren't wrong but Jesus Christ that's more an indication of just how shit the market currently is.
>shill it to me as the best mmo on the market.
The only other option is WoW.
one day I'll download the free trial and try to see if it's any good, maybe later today.
>The only other option is WoW.
when you put it like that it's hard to argue with you.
2m/h instanced bosses wherein if you die, you can retrieve all of your sweet 100m gear for a measely 100k. voids and shit never lost and is only broken, EVEN in wilderness, and can be repaired for cheap. its a lot of things, user. pking is the only enjoyable thing in this game and even thats getting shat the fuck upon. (1 bulwark boi can tank 1-5 people with low iq no skill)
While I agree it does piss me off that developers are trying to inconvenience you on purpose to make you open your wallet.
Limited carrying capacity or inventory space that can be expanded fast with cash shop. Not enough character slots to make one of each class. Monsters drop tons of loot and there are cash shop pets that can pick it up for you. Completely tuned to annoy you until you pay.
I'd rather just pay a monthly sub then see this filth anymore.
Sometimes players might see each other and the other one might have a cool hat(10€ on cash shop). The developers want to sell the other player that hat.
The funny thing is that all these recent games as a service looter shooter games seem to suffer many similar problems mmos are having without of course wanting to be branded as one with the genre. Not saying they are mmos of course. They just have similar issues.
That's my impression without playing one though.
Currently playing this grindy as shit old pay2gofaster mmo where 5% of players speak English.
DFO just released a new level cap, which was designed around removing the burden of RNG. It still exists, but it's no longer the main way to get geared up. I've been enjoying the new content.
since all hardcore people quite, albion online is great place to chill out at
also, go play fucking Neocron 2, scrubs
Not sure about the international version, but the ruski server is still pretty active. Although, after the update it exists in sorta split state - an f2p server, a subscription server and the new "reboot" server that's also f2p, but the cash shop is not nearly as fucked up as the original game (yet).
>Currently playing this grindy as shit old pay2gofaster mmo where 5% of players speak English.
What's it called?
Discovered Project 1999 recently and holy fuck, the grind is real.
Might try Pantheon, MMOS might recover now the casual audience has moved on to Battle Royale games.
knight online world
the pvp in that game is fucking godly but fuck everything else about it straight to hell
Play Neverwinter
>pay2gofaster
this is just a more subtle pay2win design, but people will split hairs all day long saying that if you are saving 1000's of hours you aren't winning.
Tibia for me.
And the opposite here. PvP has gone to hell, but other stuff has improved.
Isn't Tibia a mobile game now?
>Might try Pantheon, MMOS might recover now the casual audience has moved on to Battle Royale games.
I thought they were gone for eons, user. Battle Royale is really just leeching into the whole MOBA shit.
Am doing this, actually. It's pretty p2w, but I just love D&D-based games, so I put up with that shit.
I guess so user, MOBAs never appealed to me so I didn't play them
what is the best f2p mmo currently available? ive played swtor, eso (not f2p obviously but mmo still) and of course wow in the past but is there any free ones im missing that are worth playing? ive also played ffxiv in the past and i guess id play again if it wasnt sub based cause the game is not worth that price to me
Grinding OSRS, waiting for Classic WOW.
>MMOs might recover now that the casual audience moved to Battle Royals
Nigga, the whole reason why MMOs are failing is because they only pander to their most hardcore whales, while chasing the latest trends.
Look at WOW, they got rid of PVP servers and replaced it with a fucking battle royal mode where everyone just fights over supply drops, and the game is boring as fuck for anyone who isn't a world first mythic raider.
I wish neverwinter was D&D based, its too fucking anime wow clone for me.
OSRS
>anime
Are you retarded?
minigames aren't bad and some of the best content ever made have been minigames but the issue is that they're not bothering to reform their skilling system so all you have left to do is repetitively grind, do slayer, raids, or join the dying PvP scene. Most of the minigames they have are either never touched (thus dead) or were never introduced into OSRS (Stealing Creations)
Name more toxic community than FFXIV's
Pro tip - you can't.
DFO is literally a scam.
>toxic
What? It's literally impossible to be toxic in FFXIV unless you just mean "annoying". Toxic would probably be the community of mortal online because the game is setup in such a way to support that kind of behavior.
Not sure what you mean, bro. Granted, it's a weird hybrd of 4th and 5th ed with OC-donut steel MMO mechanics thrown in, but the setting is still recognizable enough to be enjoyable for me.
You can try DDO, if you want a more straight tabletop conversion, but that thing feels really old at this point.
what the fuck is wrong with those skin textures?
>OSRS
>f2p
I loved the gameplay, engineer was great. Veteran mode dungeons were hard as shit. The problem was attunement for the first raid was the most obnoxious shit imaginable.
1 - obvious
2 - I forget how hard it was to get elder gems. From what I vaguely remember of Onxyia/MC when I played wow +10 years back there was similar with gold. This is fine
3 - He was tough but managable. It's fine.
4 - Fine
5 - Didnt' do it, probably fine.
6 - now we're getting into tough territory. Adventures were easy but there were quite a bit of them. This isn't so bad.
7 - fine
8 - Silver or higher on every Veteran Dungeon - now we're in bullshit territory. Vet Dungeons were tough as fuck. Bullet-hell style telegraphs, insta-kill if you fuck up on one ability, narrow as fuck DPS checks. I liked how tough they were, but making you have to complete veterancy on every single dungeon to get to the raids is too high a threshhold. Have some alternative reward or requirement linked to this, like unlocking savage mode raid.
9 - fine
10 - fine
12 - Fucking bullshit. I remember a horde of probably +30 people wailing on Defensive Protocol Unit and it was like chipping away at a glacier.
You combine all of that and it's something only the 1% hardcore of hardcore raiders would do. The solution with raiding is to have an accessible mode for everyone and a hardcore mode for the elites. 1% poopsock raiders have never kept an MMO alive. Nobody follows them to MMOs because if "the most hardcore/toughest MMO is the key to success" all those no name hardcore return-to-formula EQ style MMOs wouldn't have died away.
works on my machine
Any popular shooter and FIFA
>tfw we might get classic TBC
Remember when meme hybrids could do DPS but were hybrid taxed so that instead of being comparable pure DPSers they did less DPS themselves but the party / raid wide buffs / utility secured them spots instead? That shit was great, it was balanced but still had a proper hybrid tax so all the classes were unique and didn't invalidate the presence of pure DPS classes.
However at the same time they made Hybrid Healers and Tanks comparable but unique with different strength and weaknesses so that the important roles in parties could still be found among the general population easier so grouping up was less of a bitch and a half.
You know, the exact opposite of newer WoW where literally everyone plays Hybrids because fuck having 3 DPS specs when the dev team is forced to always make the hybrid DPS spec relevant and able to handle everything and none of the hybrids will ever spec heal because fuck that amirite?
Rouge is the lowest played class now
Guess im too oldschool, to me D&D is that classic style of fantasy.
Neverwinter has that retarded combat where a guy with a claymore or zweihandar is swinging it around like a pool noodle on crack and that ruins it for me.
Now if they made an actual 5e version of Forgotten Realms without some shitty company like perfect world copy pasting their korean style grindfests and calling it a day, i'd be fucking set.
Can anyone recommend an MMO for people that don't like MMOs (don't like grinding and like playing solo), please?
The problem with minigames is that they make it so skills like woodcutting are no longer about gathering wood, they're about gathering loot crates with drop tables that are just like what monsters have.
It is F2P, and if you git gud even members world are F2P
destiny 2
The advent of WoW made MMOs lose their roots, what used to be about adventure and actually living in a fantasy world has just become instant dungeon grinders with linear quests to lead you through the world. It's been a frustrating ten years watching mmos die so at least I can finally see it buried.
Have you considered just playing a fucking normal RPG?
I remember that fag who cried about it on stream, holy fuck that was hilarious
>WE HAD THE PERFECT MMO, DUDE!
>I THOUGHT THIS WAS GONNA BE IT, DUDE!
If you like social aspect of MMOs, FFXIV is total shit.
Literally nobody talks outside of guild chats.
The revival of MMO will come with League of Legends MMO.
I am playing it only about a two weeks, but i am already tired from this meta thing.
I don't like how meta looks like and how people react on somebody who don't like this type of meta.
For example i really like DRK, but in current meta he is considered as bad pick.
And i like to minimize incoming damage while i am tank, but in current meta any tank with defensive stance on would be kicked in a second.
FFXIV's obsession with meta can be compared with leagues obsession.
Like if you wanna tank, then you should play only as war and you should only use your damage mechanics or you would be kicked and added to a blacklist.
I did have pay2win typed there initially, but there is no "winning" in Tibia. You grind until you drop. No level cap. I play on non-pvp though and just ignore the cash shop and do my own thing. Guess could still say it is pay2win as hell.
>Isn't Tibia a mobile game now?
It feels more like korean grinder, but there is an old mobile version called TibiaME too.
Guild Wars 2. It has fun exploration and jumping puzzles. Free to try too. You can pretty much ignore everyone else playing it also.
Sure, if you want to spend 3 weeks straight alching shit in order to afford the first bond, but most people aren't that stupid.
>riot can't bother to balance the heroes they have
>expecting them to balance an entire mmo
>an actual 5e version of Forgotten Realms without some shitty company like perfect world
I'd play the shit out of that too. Although, your particular peeve seems weird given that Forgotten Realms was always a high magic setting with all sorts of improbable shit happening.
Evens i play wow odds i play ffxiv
>don't like grinding and like playing solo
Look, it just doesn't work like that
just play any singleplayer rpg
or SWTOR
That's an issue with the core skilling system being shit not the fault of the minigame itself. It's either cut 1k willow logs per hour while afking or actually do something that resembles playing a game.
playing osrs on my ironman til wow classic comes out
recently did a stint in the post mortem world of eq1 pvp on an enchanter would not recommend...
Any WoW clone.
>I did have pay2win typed there initially, but there is no "winning" in Tibia. You grind until you drop. No level cap.
This is actually how all modern MMORPGs work except players nowadays "level" by improving their items and gear and the actual character level is merely a formality. Developers make it so there's no "level cap" by continually releasing new gear for players to grind for under some strange guise of "progression".
It's an interesting system that lets new players catch up pretty quickly to older players despite older ones having sunk much more time in, I'm not quite sure it's ideal but I can't think of a way to replace it.
But having a minigame isn't solving the problem.
>try to play TERA
>spend almost an hour making a character
>can't proceed after naming it
>suddenly kicked back out to the main menu
>try again
>keeps happening after many different times, checking ports and using the launcher tool
>give up
don't worry, you didn't miss much
the combats good but thats about it
2012 game running on ue3
It's a known issue
Write down your sliders somewhere
The combat is the best, but the endgame is so terrible it's unforgivable. I've restarted so many characters because it's just not fun to play beyond lvl 65.
What do you mean when you say toxic?
Why is the the FFXIV community considered such?
How do they act?
NWN3. That's what I want. It kills me that nobody is doing it or trying to crowdfund it or whatever:
>We have Steam workshop so downloading modules/mods automatically is easy
>5e is even more amenable to video games than 3e or 3.5e were let alone AD&D.
>That silly RPG podcast Critical roll thing is hugely popular with people and D&D is experiencing a renaissance of attention and widespread interest. Before you chew my head off I am not saying it's good or bad, I never saw it, I just know so many people like it.
>Internet/hosting is even better now.
>You can DLC out the ass with new rulebooks, new classes/races, maybe even a Pathfinder or whatever expansion.
It doesn't even need to do some grand campaign. Just a few base modules and give them the toolkit to make their own. Let people make their own Persistent World Mini-MMO servers, or their arena modules, or their RP modules, or their dungeon crawlers and roguelike modules. At it's core it's taking D&D and letting you experience it as a proper game with animations and abilities and visuals of your characters doing it.
Those titties look like they are filled to bursting with parasites.
That minmax autism sounds like aids, are you actually experiencing this shit in game? is this the higher levels of play or just casual shit? I wanted to try out ffxiv to have a chill time but I'l give it a miss if im dealing with X CLASS ISN'T VIABLE IN THIS EASY DUNGEON YOU MUST ONLY PLAY Y CLASS. autists
Classic TBC has the huge problem of making melee bad in almost every fight until t6 though. Rogues don't start to get fucked in wotlk where all hybrids do good dps, they start to get fucked in TBC where it's easier for groups to stack ranged and classes with more reliable forms of cc and hybrids are fine because they can heal or tank or are ranged dps.
That guy just doesn't like the way the game plays. That's fine. I'm level 54 and I know I've messed up several times as a black mage, nobody has bitched.
Minigames aren't there to solve the problem, they're there because Jagex doesn't want to go through the effort of revamping skilling and possible somehow making things worse.
Remember the smithing rework that was promised years ago in RS3? Now apply that to OSRS but with a significantly smaller team and support.
I need a group of lads to do shit with me on FFXI, but I am an autist that doesn't know how to make friends so I have to beg for parties and deal with incompetent strangers.
1024x1024 textures
I wish I played Tera in its prime
>tfw have this problem in every mmo i play
MMOs may be dead, but it's hell of a lot easier to fap to them. I remember those sweet memories of going through NCsoft games and fapping to afk people. Some npcs looked pretty good too.
> black mage
When you'll hit 70 you face sad reality where BLM got insta kick from the dungeon.
Check out the logs. BLM is in shit tier right now and pugs would not tolerate BLM in their group
XIV and ESO are serviceable themeparks
WoW got tanked by Actiblizz and incompetent management
Mass cloned Korean shit is for subhumans
/threadaloonie
>want to play monk or machinist class
>least amount of parses
...
>things that literally never happen
Does anyone remember that one russian (still english or localized at least) MMO that played a lot like WoW but had more Ork looking Orks and the Undead race was this dank edgy pharoah look instead? It was free and from years ago.
I recommend Shroud of the Avatar because once you pass the jank it's a fucking fantastic RPG
And I'd play FFXIV because I'd like to see what it's like since last time I played was 2.0 launch, but I don't want to pay monthly for a sub. Wish I could just grind for a sub
Anyone telling you to not play a class because the class is bad are literal shitters who don't actually do any content because you can play literally any class and do any content. The only class I could even think of as being real bad is MCH because its just designed in such an unfun way or BLM in Ultimate because of how much movement is required. Literally just play what you want and let these people out themselves as complete fucking morons and move on lmao
Early TERA and early BDO were the last good Asian MMOs where you could spend 10,000 hours in. Then, like every MMO in existence, TERA pandered hardcore to casuals and started shitting out new classes left and right, and BDO went unbelievably p2w.
Good job, sherlock.
If there are people who regard this as a luminous revelation then i understand why micro transactions are entrenched into the world of videogames.
Good on you though, indeed any type of micro transaction is cancer. No matter what it sells, no matter how much it costs it is only game content which is not in the game.
Allods. it still gets content.
Has a premium server too but the population was never that big
I think I played this shit like a fucking decade ago, as a poorfag I was always looking for F2P MMOs, such as Tales of Pirates
>once you pass the jank it's a fucking fantastic RPG
Can you elaborate on that, user? I've watched some gameplay videos before and it looked straight shit, desu.
>themeparks
>anything other than utterly irredeemable abominations
Pick one.
>BLM has highest damage in the game
>n-no guise BLM sucks trust me
>here is a story that never happened that proves my point!
God damn NA-fags are the worst.
I'd call it garbage. WoW never really properly utilized hybrids properly when it came to raid content. Rather than being able to do more than one thing decently, it was always better to focus on a single thing. In vanilla this generally meant healing, and by naxx blizzard had fully embraced this design by making hybrid T3 100% healing stuff. TBC changed this a bit in the sense that hybrids became more viable in other roles, but at the same time they became more and more specialized to that one specific role. A good example of this would be druids' tree form.
In contrast, look at druid pvp in vanilla (someone good, not someone who plays druid like a rogue at first, then as a warrior when he starts taking damage and then as a priest when he's almost dead). Here's one example
youtube.com
Almost everything in the toolkit is being used. Cat/bear forms are utilized, usually for short times, damaging spells are utilized, healing is utilized. You don't stick to a single thing, like you would in raid content. This is what I think a hybrid should look like.
Perhaps raid content is simply incompatible with these kinds of hybrids, but by increasing the viability of specialized roles to make roles other than healing viable for hybrids, they also killed the hybrid pvp. You're in tree form so you can't do anything but heal. If you're balance, you'll do garbage physical damage, and vice versa for feral. Hybrids simply became lite versions of pure classes, with a small utility on top.
It's animations and explanations of game mechanics fucking blow but it's legitimately a comfy fucking rpg first, and since levels aren't used it's much easier to play with friends because it's like RuneScape, you just level your other skills when you play with friends so you're always progressing
Tera "classic" (2014 patch) server is pretty fun! Too bad it's an event server that will end in a month and a half.
And current tera is arguably more hardcore than ever, you need to grind a lot to unlock the hardest dungeons. They also got a new dev team that's fucking up everything.
I always hear stories about this kind of thing is it just not a thing on primal? None of this content requires the top classes and all of the DPS to perform perfectly.
I've only seen try class gatekeeping back in the BC wow days
Anyone else waiting for moonlight blade? I want a loliwife.
FFXIV is unfortunately the least worst (popular) mmo currently available
It's not a thing period.
>tfw still remember Shandra
It was great, the only people who could down that fuck were decent players and none of them brought Priests because healing was never the problem when everything killed you in one hit. Finally got to shit on Priests 100% as a Mystic in PvE.
Skills need revamping, but it's not "old school" to do so. Like the RS3 Smithing rework, it's too little too late. They missed the boat. They didn't work out the kinks beforehand and they didn't settle on a vision for the servers before putting it out.
>What are you all playing at the moment
Nothing
>Any recommendations?
Don't play FF14
Thats all I want to see from MMOs again, its dungeon crawling with people online.
I see a lot of discussion about it but I hear there's nothing to do at the end game ever.
Is that true?
Queen is a great fucking fight, it's a shame how easy it would be by todays standards though. Everyone has a ton of movement skills/iframes and cdr.
>Tera "classic" (2014 patch)
No nigger, that's not early TERA. That's exactly the period when things started going downhill insanely fast is when reaper/wonderholme came out.
>used to play LotRO back in the day
>find out a few days ago they're doing "legendary" servers" Basically starting at vanilla and adding the next expansion every few months
>muh nostalgia
>sub for a month
>absolutely ridiculous microtransactions
>talking like 10 bucks for 10 bank slots
>despite this it looks fun, find a really nice guild
>2 days in game stops working
>reinstall
>patcher won't work
>google problems
>Lotro site won't load
>follow install guides because obviously that should be necessary for a launcher.
>still won't work
FFXIV is your bog standard post WOTLK WOW clone, the only thing to do at end game is raid, and raids are on a weekly reward lockout and repetitive as fuck.
Playing Eve. Got good combat skils now but gonna start building stuff, mostly all the blueprints I've looted while out on my exploration expeditions.
ESO sounds perfect for you. It's all level scaling so you don't need to grind. It's heavily focused on solo questing. Too bad the characters are FUCKING UGLY AS SIN.
>ever
Come on user try to think of that makes sense.
I doubt anyone here has cleared a ultimate.
Well, nigger, that's exactly why I put classic under quotations. It's not really classic but they put in vm1/2 content to make up for it. Still pretty fun, mostly because there's a lot of people playing it.
this is complete misinformation unless you're trying to get into some kind of autistic static
on jap datacenters you can play whatever the fuck you want as long as you don't double up on a class. Outside of statics no one ever mentions party composition.
It really depends on what a person considers worthwhile content. Regardless of the patch XIV is on, the current, high end content will always be one/two dungeons (4man, easy), 4 raids (8man, easy), 4 harder versions of said raids (8man, moderate-hard), one ultimate fight (extremely difficult, very optional, most people don't even attempt it) and one or two 24man raids, easy.
However the overall amount of content available is very large, most of it is just no longer 'current'. If you're interested in doing older content for things like anima/relic weapons (weapons with special appearances), mounts, etc then you'll have a lot to work on, if you only care about the popular content then you can get bored very quickly
FFXIV doesn't really have an expansive endgame other than doing your dailies, weekly 24-man raid and doing your weekly progression through (Savage) difficulty 8-main raids.
There're also two (Ultimate) difficulty raids which are the single highest difficulty fights in the game any group can try to beat.
Main appeal of the game is in the story along the way rather than the grind once you get to the end which is reflected in how the game expects you to unsubscribe once you run out of stuff to do and coming back with the next content patch rather than running same content ad-nauseum until you get burned out.
>2014 version of a game released in 2012 isn't considered early in the year of our lord 2019
Good MMOs are ruined very quickly in the span of 1-3 years.
It's funny that people still cling to the old school label because OSRS is so far from the source it was based on it's ridiculous. May as well just go full speed ahead and just take OSRS on a different path than RS3 but Jagex are filled with hacks and I severely doubt they can do better than what they have now. Every single one of their other ventures has massively failed.
>still have that one Shandra HM clear uploaded on youtube from 2013
Had to grind it for 2 months in other to get visionmaker at the time, not to mention during those 2 months not a lot more people cleared SM either. It took Codex like 1 month for its first clear after it was released, nothing like current imported MMO's which for each update have a new dungeon/raid but also all the mechanics figured out and written guides on.
Usually they don't last as long as TERA does, it must be doing something right
I've been looking for an MMO I can grief on.
WoW vanilla servers are fun cause I can gank low level quest zones as a rogue.
Any similar POPULATED MMO's where I can flex on low level / undergeared kids?
>FFXIV
>Press button
>Wait 2 full seconds
>Press highlighted button
>Wait 2 seconds
>Repeat
There now you all have played it.
God I hate GCD's and mmos with no holy trinity. My 2 biggest turnoffs.
EVE online.
soon
Do you know when Lost Ark is being released in the west? Been waiting for this game for years. Alternatively, is it possible to play in KR now, or too late?
>gcd meme again when most classes heavily rely on oGCD's and certain classes have a sped up GCD + oGCDs
2.5s GCD really only exists for BLM, WHM, PLD and RDM to some extent but even those classes average a button every 2seconds at worst, all other classes use more.
>pretending off the gcds don't exist
I hate fags like you
You could try BDO
>classic server
>make it non-PvP
God. Fucking. Damn it.
I just want to have some actual interaction in the low level areas with other people instead of this weird situation where everybody is like a fucking ghost. I was logged in just playing there and it was killing me inside, there was no point to even seeing other players.
Nobody can interact with eachother and I'm not going to be able to make friends by jumping in and helping other people fight off their assailants. Fuck.
At least you have more then 6 buttons to press in xiv
Even trash mobs actually hit like a fucking truck so 1 star for at least trying but failing because you've not played classic
>I doubt anyone here has cleared a ultimate.
does anybody here actually care is the real question
There’s going to be a new LOTR MMO in like 5 years
making friends isnt what you do in RS anymore, it's basically a singleplayer game
there's fucking nothing you can do with other people apart from the new raid thing
How can you not like xiv but be waiting for wow? xiv is mostly just wow with an ff theme?
>people wanting to play solo
What's even the fucking point of playing an MMO if you are just going to go solo and refuse to communicate with other players?
Not making it open world pvp was a big mistake imo since a lot of fun is to be had in that system, especially the first few days when nobody was max level and everyone was grinding mobs.
Some people are huge fucking autists but the desire to play solo is more and more popular, hence the lack of the holy trinity in new mmos. People don't want to team up anymore so everyone has to be a dps. Cancer.
>Even trash mobs actually hit like a fucking truck so 1 star for at least trying but failing because you've not played classic
What the fuck are you saying? I was literally just logged in. Are you talking about the dungeons? Dungeons don't count as spontaneous interaction with players and rarely if ever lead to you even talking to the people after you clear it.
But then again, who wants to be a healslut or a glorified aggro-gimp?
tackle more than 1 mob of the same level and come back
Can't speak for others, but for me it's about the "scenery". I'm in a beholder role, doing my own stuff while I watch other players frolic around. Makes the world feel alive instead of desolate. The issue is that I hate interacting with people when it becomes a clique thing and/or you have to use voice chat to communicate.
I'd only play tanks/healers in mmos so me I guess. I don't like dpsing much.
Don't ever dander into my comfy MMORPG thread again you special needs autismo. I have no idea what the fuck you're even talking about.
gamefaqs.gamespot.com
> Black Mage: In theory, the highest personal DPS class in the game and up there with summoner in aoe situations. But no raid dps puts it behind all the meta classes in value. Where BLM is really problematic is that it occupies the caster slot with no raise which makes it actively bad for prog compared to rdm or smn. And like samurai, no one really wants one in their party for fflogs reasons. Also can force the group to adjust strategies for BLM optimisation which can be annoying.
Too soon
This.
I leveled my wow arcane mage in two days in the most recent wow expansion using one button.
I honestly believe it was the best option for a arcane mage.
Wow is a joke.
>btfo
>no argument
>heh I'll call him a casual lmao owned
Don't listen to he's just your average autist obsessed with the meta and staying relevant. Everything is viable and world firsts have been made with non meta. Meta is in XIV is and will always be a crutch for shitters to deflect blame from their selves.
>Even trash mobs actually hit like a fucking truck so 1 star for at least trying but failing because you've not played classic
Explain this sentence further.
>desperately want friends to play MMOs with
>far too shy to actually make any
In my entire time playing online games. From about 2004 to now. I've only made one friend and he doesn't play MMOs.
>Runescape is okay but I've pretty much done all I wanted in OSRS
>Wow private servers are fun to play but the more I got into it the more the game just becomes a loot drama simulator
>BFA plays like trash
>Tried FFXIV and I'll never get used to that fucking 0.5 sec imput buffer
What else is out there
hows maplestory 2?
cause i want to play the way i like
Try playing the game
I wish there was more, maybe eve but you'd already know if you were into that.
I'd buckle down and try more ffxiv and if you can't do that you might be out of luck.
Pvp focus mmos are a waste of time and I'm disappointed that a couple of ones coming out thing they will work.
>I will quote a Literaly Who from a forum for Literaly Whos openly stating that he's bad at the game
>This obviously proves my point
Meta couldn't be less relevant in this game, DRK is supposedly an awful tank yet world first clears for both Ultimates AND omega featured him and BLM is an active main stay on many statics due to sheer damage it puts out, saving the otherwise 1%wipes from ever happening.
I have.
>Even trash mobs actually hit like a fucking truck so 1 star for at least trying but failing because you've not played classic
Explain this line further.
>muh e-sports
>muh proscene
>muh competitiveness
I want this to end.
You play it wrong. May you forever remain unsatisfied playing an mmo which should never accomodate your playstyle.
I am shy too, which is why the increasing removal for social interaction with other players annoys me.
It used to be that even autist like me can meet other people when we are forced to look for party members to tackle a dungeon or a mission or to grind in difficult area.
But now matchmaking and content being made easy for soloing removes any need for communication. FFXIV is the worst offender I've seen so far. Played it for 2 weeks and felt like I was playing a single player game with intelligent bots.
The issue is that you're fundamentally wrong about how friendships work. You bond with people with similar interests, not the other way around. Forcing companionship only creates feeble and fleeting company. You'll never make friends if your goal from the get-go is to subside your loneliness.
Awful. It's very cute and the housing is entertaining, but it's a chore, and the grind is unreal.
Are we pretending that leveling in any current mmo requires people? Just join a social guild or something.
I've played on the emulated classic MMO servers, they were all pretty fun for a novel experience for a short time, Project 1999, the other private EQ server with higher expansions, Return of Reckoning the Warhammer MMO is running pretty strong, various Dark age of Camelot private / classic servers, but couldn't stick it out long here. Any other recommendations for private servers particularly for dead games / classic experience?
>Are we pretending that leveling in any current mmo requires people
I said exact opposite of that dingus.
MMO's are pointless without the social interaction, they need too stop making them accessible too solo players. Every time I've tried a solo-focused MMO it's been a boring experience, the days of mandatory grouping made for interesting and memorable moments. There's so little of that now in multiplayer gaming.
No shit, I was mentioning because you felt the need to call out ffxiv when ever single game is just as bad.
I didn't even need to do a single dungeon to hit the new level cap in wow and it was even considered nonoptimal to do so.
>they need too stop making them accessible too solo players
So stop making MMO at all.
i play eso because it has failed potential but i like pretending it achieved it
Dude, Yea Forums is a MMO.
ESO is a great single-player game.
How do I make friends?
Compared to Classic: no PvP, doesn't feel as good to play in general, 0 customization, streamlined as fuck.
>playing Kurtzpel
>not Elsword
Every time with Yea Forums and their shittastes.
I didn't say MMOs had to cater to solo players though, I only answered the other poster's question.
>the days of mandatory grouping made for interesting and memorable moments
True, but in the name of accessibility, most MMOs shifted away from leveling experience and put all the eggs on the endgame basket, and since endgame requires more organization, you end up needing to join a guild, and then we go back with my disdain for cliques and voicecom.
>2d plane side scrolling trash
don't post again
I'm looking for something to tide me over until kurtzpel comes back, should I play Closers, Soul Worker Or Elsword? Or look for a grand chase private server?
Considering how a lot of MMO players are nowadays, I don't really want to associate with them. I play with a couple of friends in some, but otherwise I just check the game out, maybe join a guild for raids, then x out to the next one. I like having experience in multiple different games so I have more to discuss or recommend with the few people I do talk to or meet.
Gone are the years I used to be able to associate myself with the average playerbase now that a lot of them are twitch-chat spewing retards. So I just avoid them.
I'm posting again, and it's an actual MMO
Try Elsword private server. The other two games are completely dead and flopped hard. Alternatively try GC's gacha.
I think by this point a mmo needs to delay its release for several months and work out a long chain of content to keep people invested.
Multiple raids tiers at launch.
People just head back to the established mmos after they burn through content nowadays.
I don't think this is really a reasonable thing to ask for moneywise as well, so I doubt it will happen.
We need a MMORPG where extremely powerful player characters can ascend their characters into demigods or godhood, able to reincarnate with a new character, and able to re-customize from scratch, while still retaining all the previous stats and level they made their character into a demigod or god, except they MUST make a new name, since their characters will become powerful Elite World Boss tier NPCs that practically requires hundreds of players, or another demigod or god to take down.
we can b friends
Not playing marie poppo is a good start
Just looked at it and elsword looks like shit god damn. Maybe only my 12 year old self could play something this shitty and consider it a good waste of time.
You start by understanding friendship isn't a binary state, but a gradual relationship that takes time and effort, and it's based on a common interest or goal. If you want to make friends in an MMO, find a grouping that sparks your interest (e.g. Tranny-hater Guild) and e-socialize until you bond with someone. The more you try to force it, the harder you'll fail, and the deeper it'll hurt.
>if you happen to have amazon prime / twitch prime
if you do you should probably just end it all.
>e-socialize
how do i do this? like a normal person would?
The beauty of NWN3 is it'd offer it all if it had a toolkit. If there's no toolkit I don't fucking want it. Nuts to the CRPG, give me the CRPG + Toolkit. And with more people modding or being willing to import shit? Sky's the limit.
Yeah pretty much, even Yoshi says it. There's enough things to force paypigs to keep playing the game and being subbed (their houses, namely) but for the rest of us schmucks the winning move seems to be sub for x.0 release, unsub until x.57 or whatever it's called and then do all the old content. Alternatively sub again around x.3 where you should have 1-2 of the raids, 1-2 of the alliances, and enough content for a month.
Going back for a single patch cycle seemed like a bad idea to me. I'd finish the content in a day or two.
The goddamn background sound effects and the prompt sounds make my ear bleed. The gameplay is good, don't get me wrong, but I can't stand playing the game for longer than 30 minutes at a time hearing the godawful sound effects unless I put on some background music of my own.
>You start by understanding friendship isn't a binary state
It literally is though
unironically nu wow has quite some different mechanics in the latest raid.
Been having a blast with Neverwinter again lately.
New expansion dropping soonish that overhauls the game tho
Amazon prime pays for itself if you pay it yearly. At least in Europe.
I don't know how normal people do it since I don't go out nor care to make new friendships, sorry.
I know you're memeing, but it seems a lot of people that spend a lot of time online tend to think that way unironically, so they suffer when their unrealistic perspective doesn't pan out, and then you see threads like
>tfw xyz deleted me from steam because I didnt say hi today
So you're trying to get into the fishing game, eh? You got a long way to go, kiddo.
>eve launcher won't even let me log in
Well then
Just dodge the red circles bro
youtu.be
why arent you 100%
Nice
Soon, very, very, soon.
Because I'm a horrible person and no one should have to communicate with me.
Playing ESO & DDO casually. Feels good
What's the best MMO for ERP?
Reported for rape. Seriously though, is this common amongst you autists?
>try to play TERA
>just want to take it easy and explore the open world solo
>everything dies in one shot but it's fun exploring anyway
>get banned for being a bot
>for trying to explore the open world
Things that did not happen.
Except it did to me faggot. My entire time in Tera was spent going to random places while following my the quests, one-shotting everything and just admiring the view. Seeing another player in the open world was extremely rare. Apparently that is bot behavior.
If you did get banned it was because of something else bro, maybe you have intrusive third party apps or a virus in the background, you did not get banned for exploring the world.
>seeing another player in the open world was extremely rare
Because nowadays you level fast through dungeons and it's a quick process
>apparently that is bot behavior
I don't see why it would be, people go through ow for various achievements and they don't get banned
the fact that you're correlating the two makes you sound like a fucking dumbass
Vrchat
Chathouse 3d
Does it change the limits on how many skills you can have mapped?
So, I'm thinking of starting with the FFXIV trial, is the /vg/ general friendly enough to ask questions?
Yes, they're also really autistic like most vg gens.
Anyone looking forward to Astellia Online?
youtube.com
>really autistic
Perfect, I'm into SMT so I already have the autism part down.
not that kind of autism, it's more my waifu looks better than your waifu autism. Or erp teehee I'm really a girl autism. but I've also received helpful posts, but honestly the trial is free until 35 and you can play every class except the ones unlocked by expansion packs.
It really would be better for you if you just, read the guides the game offers you when you start playing and experience it for yourself, they'l probably tell you the same.
The game also starts really slow they keep saying that, like it takes awhile to get into.
Questions should be fine, asking in the threads on Yea Forums should also be fine
As long as I can play it as a south american shitter, me
>finally Tera for my region
>1 week later
>meh
Literally bless 2.0
Don't fall for it.
Also a ton of enviroments look straight up ripped from tera. I know Korean mmos are not the height of originality, including tera which was just supposed to be lineage 3, but just look at that video 0:04 and pic related.
I played ffxiv for a while but it's going far left now sadly, so been playing gw2 again.
Bruh, it’s LITERALLY Tera.
The UI, HUD, graphics, areas. It’s EXACTLY the same game.
I am forgotten.
SWTOR
Yes, wurm online
/thread
at this point I'm basically just waiting for Classic
>not that kind of autism
Bummer.
>trial is free until 35 and you can play every class
Yeah, that's among the questions I want to ask there. I played and quit WoW until the last raid of WoD, and then moved to a now bare-bones mmorpg called Skyforge, but quit that too months ago, so this "you can play all the classes" is kind of confusing to me.
>read the guides the game offers you
I want to ask more permanent things like server choice, things that I shouldn't take for granted in the trial (hypothetical e.g. if I drop the trial and lost the trial account, I cant make a character with the same name in the server).
Alrighty, thanks.
except its tab target which automatically kills it because action combat is one of the rare things that makes tera great
I wish the combat system of Blade & Soul was in a better game. It's the only MMO I have ever played where playing as the support class felt not only rewarding but you could out perform most DPS classes by playing well and you weren't delegated to standing all the way back from all the action.
Does anyone who knows eve give me some direction, I've just been training skills and mining for years.
eveskillboard.com
unironically stick to Yea Forums, /xivg/ is maddening because it's just thousands of consecutive posts that make no sense unless you're in the tranny clique
easily the worst general on /vg/
Here's the guide the link to in game.
eu.finalfantasyxiv.com
>Bummer.
Yeah but not everyone is like that, best way to decide is lurk in the threads and see for yourself.
>I played and quit WoW
there's a lot of youtube videos covering FFXIV for players leaving BFA, you might be able to understand the systems better watching one of those.
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
No idea if these cover the game well but they make comparisons between the games that might be easier for you to grasp.
>"you can play all the classes" is kind of confusing to me.
The guide goes over this sort of stuff well but the tl:dr is you do quests to unlock classes (called jobs in FFXIV) and you just need to swap your weapon to swap your job.
eu.finalfantasyxiv.com
If you're NA they'll probably tell you to go to Balmung the most populated server for serious players and degenerates alike,
If you're EU they're going to split the servers into two regions eventually shits weird might want to ask about that, just avoid moogle, it's full of french players, shiva is full of german players, all realms EU realms speak some degree of english but those too cater to more of what i've stated.
FFXIV makes you pick a first name and a last name so if you did fuck up a lose your trial account and you really want to be called
EDGEMASTER LASTNAME
you could just call yourself
EDGEMASTER LASTNAMED
pic related in planed split.
>Playing since 2009
>Social / Rank 1 / Level: 1
kek
So.... what should I play?
Cmon anons, GIVE me something. im begging you
There's ways of countering this without completly fucking over the ultra-neckbeards. However in games where everything is world-based, its in the ultra-neckbeard's MO to WANT to ruin everyone else's fun on purpose. How many times I've seen it on EQ private servers and the earlier progression servers where guilds killed high end stuff just so others couldn't, even if they didn't need the loot.
The situation was much worse if they could actually sell the loot.
youtube.com
I'm having fun in Blade & Soul while waiting for the next patch of Final fantasy XIV and to get my male viera fix while waiting for actual confirmation of wether or not they are playable in Shadowbringers.
To see what they can do to improve at the game.
If you parse for the funny colored number you're autistic, if you parse to compare what you may be doing wrong compared to other players so you can improve you're doing it right.
i want to play an mmo would you recommend FFXIV or blade and soul?
FFXIV is extremely boring, global cooldown or not. It's more "safe" then WoW is other then having non-outdated models (although they all share the same human skeleton other then some males and lala's). They also know their main crowd is the one that actually doesn't play the game, but is willing to buy a 6-pack of Fantasia (a race/gender change item) every week with little to no self control.
Socialization is a complete crapshoot now that they added the hugbox rules last month.
Downloading it now.
What am I in for?
FFXIV is decent. Better than WoW at this point
can I make a muscular waifu?
FFXIV obviously has much more content.
BnS has a better character creator and you can make thicc brown sluts with wide fertile breeding hips
I play WoW. Its average and not good but from all the optiins its best for me. I wish there would be another mmo but no. Doesnt help im roleplay fag
Thanks for the heads up, but I forgot to update this thread, and I already posted.
Thanks for thorough post, user, much appreciated.
>videos covering FFXIV for players leaving BFA
BFA is two expansions after I quit, but I'll definitely check these, thank you.
>just avoid moogle, it's full of french players
Thanks, exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. It's not that I hate the french... but well... you probably know how it is.
>first name and a last name
Thanks, didn't know that.
>insecure tripfags
fuck off back to the general you fucking faggots. Oh I forgot, you're posting here because you do fuck all in the game and just erp/avatar post.
It's Final Fantasy XI meets Knight Online, releases on the 5th though
I'm probably not the right person to answer that question since I'm not at endgame in BnS yet, but both games have their pros and cons. BnS has combat that will probably keep you entertained during early levelling unlike ff14's painfully slow start, but ff14 have so much more polish and QoL features.
Play DFO!
since you seem to actually enjoy playing the game, how much hope is there for the new expansion? what about the nier content? that's what i resubbed for
Forgot to address the pic related. Do the chaos/light denominations mean anything or just names? Light-Odin sounds appealing to me. By any chance do you know the game folder size from the top of your head?
Not him but steam or non-steam version?
Leveling up an orc hunter on a private server.
Taking my time, leveling professions as I go (engineering, fishing, cooking) and exploring. It’s been pretty relaxing so far.
Hopefully I’ll find a pug tonight to run WC.
There was more that went wrong with wildstar then what you said but that was the backbreaker for sure. They took all of what made the classic mmos SUCK plus add the usual bottle of incompetent-sauce and you got wildstar. It was worse when it had that "potential" feel with combat like Tera did but they never followed up, much less fix many of the major issues. I don't pvp at all and fucking hate all forms of it since WoW Arenas (i played other genres for my competitive genres), but actually felt sad for the giant emphasis on it but the actual "meat" of it never happened. Warplots was the name?
The only thing Wildstar did that I never got involved with in other mmos was housing. I didn't really decorate, but it was neat seeing what players could do with it.
I played the fuck out of Knight Online when it was restricted to some foreign server. Some Starcraft Vbulletin friends got me in on it. We'd kite some big ass motherfucker into town and it'd kill all the afk trade posts people had set up. I remember the upgrade system being absolute cancer though, and eventually the foreign GM's banned me for mass pulling high level mobs into town.
Non-steam to avoid any potential login issues. I mean steam just opens the official launcher anyways.
>hope
It's been confirmed, several times and by Yoshi himself, that the game is designed for content bombs, and inbetween that a steady stream of making your Cat and Lizard-Girl cuter.
So just sub for the .0 patches and unsub at the end of the week and you're golden. But who am I kidding, mmo threads are just 95% ffxiv lurkers lusting for more erp buddies in their discord and 4% are non-ironic stutter posters who can't think for themselves.
I have been stuck in this game since 2009.
FFXIV is the best on the market despite all of its flaws. That's probably not a good sign, but at least the story has unironically been better than some mainline games.
Well then, who is the most fun punching character?
I used to play DKO when it was on Aeria Games, you could PvP pretty much everywhere. Finding someone deep inside a dungeon was easily the most tense shit I experienced on this game.
Is there a stealth class akin to rogue from WoW?
Female Grappler for a blast of fun
Monk
I liked that game but the roleplay scene is abyssmal. The worst I've seen in the game especially when the CoH faggots came in.
is it still a soulcrushing epic grind + boring ass raid or did it get any better
One of my dearest MMO memories is actually just about walking and talking with some shmucks on a WOW rp server.
There was me (a human), a dwarf, an elf, and another human. We met in Goldshire and walked all the way to a quest objective, talking and laughing along the way.
He said good, though.
I haven't played in a while but I'm sure it's still an ebin grinder. You just got to learn to fight the desire sensor and get lucky.
Tibia, the only MMO i can enjoy, it's and old school roleplay 2d game that looks slow at the beggining then gets too fast for you as you get higher.
The battle system is a real time tactical based
4 classes
Knight: the tank
Paladin: the ranged single target jack of all trades
Druid: the healer
Sorcerer: the aoe spell weaver
It's grindy and comfy but demands concentration and teamwork
Has no sounds so you gotta hear your music.
Over 20 years of uptime
10/10 I recommend.
No, there are no assassin/rogue classes in DKO and the closest to it is probably Archer but it doesn't have a stealth ability.
Damn, TERA has not aged well.
Artist picked a good angle.
Otherwise they'd have to show the filth spilling out of that inn.
beggars can't be choosers or something
I might still be playing this if leveling didn't require mass grinding.
It's the one thing I can't stand about old MMOs.
Stale, hollow quests aren't good either to be fair.
is this a mod I don't remember anyone's tits being that big
That came in after I played a bunch
Any tips?
Aged a bit better than PSO2 at least.
The game is grindy yes but it's become easier over the years with the new spawns, know a guy knight who got from 50 to 200 in 3 weeks
Also idk but the quests are good to me, peoole just don't read the story.
Is LoTRO any good these days? What does a monthly sub get you? I know it's super Jewish without one, despite the fact that I fucking own 2 expansions before it went F2P.
I crave some Middle Earth right now.
God I need a bitchy, snobby high elf gf to verbally abuse me and then impregnate in a mating press
People are playing either WoW, FF14, or ESO.
>. Do the chaos/light denominations mean anything or just names?
Because no server has official languages as far as i can tell they're just names, the splits intended to deal with the datacenter being shit. I'm not sure how but they think splitting it in half will make it work better, most eu players are fretting over it no one can really tell you where to go.
Odin seems fine it gets recommended quite a bit i think. , i think the game is setup that so long as you're in the same datacenter as someone you can play with them or visit their world or something. so you'd be able to play with the light server players.
Window says it's about 24.3 GB on my machine, that might just be the size of the first game though.
What do you recommend I roll to play normally till level / possible gear cap, then camp low level quest zones killing players (and possibly quest givers / flight masters if the game allows?)
I want something that will really give players who have max level friends trouble. Something that can hide / stealth, or run away from any encounter but at the same time easily gank lowbies.
And you got that shit from a game not played for role playing. Just fucking roleplay in second life, vrchat, or something. Why do you even bother with the goddamn game?
I like you, you seem to be speak honestly.
Should I make a male human or a female roe?
Do you like the story of FFXIV? I'm told it's really good, any suggestions for a JoB? I was going to go pugilist because I like punching things.
I don't get your post user.
I just have the hots for how TERA elves looked. In every MMO they just look like humans with pointy ears. In TERA they all looked like high class promiscuous sluts with pointy ears and I like that.
I wish more RPGs actually delivered the whole "elves are all beautiful and arrogant".
did you make this spreadsheet yourself?
Archer and Warlock got plenty of skills that allows you to fuck around with people. Warlock specifically can nuke, debuff, heal, summon and apply aoe dots.
What MMOs even are there nowadays?
I'm sick of wow and I had my fun with FFXIV too
I did make it myself but it's based on a screenshot I once saw on /dfog/ with a few additions
cute choco
Thanks for the info.
CUTE
Playing FFXIV and getting caught up for the incoming next expansion, got a nice guild and we do treasure hunts/other stuff here and there
hot choco, post more
wish that game actually delivered though
I was playing a solo instance fight in LOTRO (I play it exclusively free mode for the extra hardcore) while waiting for Shroud of the Avatar monthly update to finish. It took me like half an hour of slogging through enemies to get to the boss. Get the boss down to about 75%, then fucking Legolas kept dancing around a steeeep ledge and pulling the boss over to it. He even fell off once. Fucking archers, always stealing aggro.
I ended up falling off the ledge trying to keep up with the boss. BZZZT YOU FAIL IT FUCK FUCK FUCK
I'll be doing free FFXIV next in a month or two. Then it'll be time for FFXI free week to roll around so I can chill a while with my tarutaru.
Shroud housing system is really good. If any other game does it better, I'd like to see how.
You guys think that is cute? check this out, what a qt.
Character models are shit, but it keeps the ERP faggots on FFXIV where they belong.
The game gets significant monthly updates, so if that gameplay video was more than a year old it's like a whole new game by now, aside from the basic deck system combat, it's the two year old videos that are out of date for that.
Nigga what
Should I download PSO2? Looks fun as fuck.
Yeah, its pretty fun. Still don't understand why it never got a english release
Not a mod, just body changers. You can get up to +3 with perm changers and +6 titties with temp ones. Only works on some swimsuits.
Too bad about what the game turns into after you have all of your gear at DUO and are level 58.
Neither do I
Female roe much rarer, people think its not cute though. Story is atroocious til heavensward, then drops a bit during stormblood due to fist clenching.
Jobs mean jackshit in this game other then roles. Play whatever you want because every job in this game is a ret paladin.
Same could be said for dragons dogma online. Pretty solid mmo and yet it never got an english release. Fucking capcom
> people think its not cute though
That's fine I don't want to erp with people or post pictures of my characters, I guess I'll decide between doing a rugged human or going for a rarely seen combo.
>Story is atroocious til heavensward, then drops a bit during stormblood due to fist clenching.
bummer guess I'll just have to hold out.
>every job in this game is a ret paladin.
I see so they're that easy, Guess I'll try them all and stick with what I like best.
Thanks user hope you have a terrific day.
>1k hours on mess online
doing what?
>absolutely ridiculous microtransactions
Yeah, it's amazing how annoying some of them are. First and foremost is the money limit of basically 200,000 copper. It's like you're a little kid who can't handle a bunch of money at once. Whenever it overflows, anything you do that gives you money, DING SHIVER SHIVER on the notification icon. The best part is when you log in it refills your money to the max from your overflow, so DING SHIVER SHIVER is there to greet you again.
I've been playing free mode because of the hardcore challenge (I played FFXI for 8 years, I'm up to it), the only thing I bought with points was the riding skill for a mount. Before that, I was able to reach Rivendell at like level 15 or so by being sneaky and running away a lot.
It's got an amazing amount of quests, if you love doing RPG quests, you have to play this. You can zoom through the early levels with XP from the quests, then you slow down after level 30 or so unless you unlock more regions, which I haven't done yet. (DING SHIVER SHIVER Get this region!)
But it has fucking scaling instances, which I hate, I want to be able to steam roll shit if I get more levels.
>patcher won't work
HOLY FUCK when I first installed it, the patcher crashed halfway through the download, and it left CORRUPTED FILES that it didn't even notice. It took me hours to get a clean set of files, because when you start the game, if any file is sufficiently bad it gives you an error and won't even tell you which file it was. I eventually realized it left the file open, so you could try to delete a bunch of files, and the bad one was the one that wouldn't delete, then put the others back. Then I had to start all over again to find the next fucked up file. I mean, FFXI takes hours to do its first install, but at least you can do something else and don't have to baby it through fixing a dozen broken files.
Hey user I think you got the wrong door, the "characters you've made" thread is two blocks down.
2.0 content is by far the worse and breaks many noob's backs trying to get through it. Once you get past ultima weapon, it picks up a little bit by bit.
Long story short: SE had no idea what they were doing and tried to put 2.0 the best they could from 1.0. After that they actually started putting some sense together and all the.."stuff" happens in post-2.0 story, and you'll see the game starts turning into better/safer WoW slowly but surely. Make sure to stick with one character to 70 to make it easier to do everything else if you choose to (and will most likely) level other jobs.
>can only play as humans
>can't play as cute foxgirls
why fucking bother
Just get all the ingredients for the friends recipe and use it on the crafting table! ;_;
Closers. Because it have Tina
>quests are good to me
Yeah and there are hundreds of them after all these years.
Recently I made one where in order to join a vampire and demon slaying organization I had to first gather ingredients and bake cookies with garlic and holy water.
Then I ran around town offering those cookies to citizens in order to reveal vampires hiding upon them. You can even offer them to extra npcs to get pretty funny responses.
Then the questline proceeds into landing onto an isle and infiltrating a castle full of demonic forces and vampires. Top tier fun stuff for me.
>want to play xi again
>dont have anyone to play with so I'll probably buy the game and then quit
;_;
>shitloads of turbonerds with loadsamone offered to keep the game alive
>lol fuck that shit, we all in with GW2
What makes FFXI private servers a pain in the ass to run/develop compared to other mmorpgs? Is everything in gook language or something?
If only that one guy had shut the fuck up and not happily deleted that source code for them.
Hey kipoli im ekethai the guy you gave bags to in eq2 if you are here thanks for the bags
>join random group
>some BR is making a mess and getting everyone killed
>clearly has no clue about the dungeon
>others BRs in the group are just making fun of him instead of helping him out
I've been playing the game for 4 years now, and I've only had a couple isolated events where someone was called out for playing a job. All cases that person gets told to shut the fuck up and move on. I have yet to see any class actively hinder a game, only the users playing them.
>I'm probably not the right person to answer that question since I'm not at endgame in BnS yet
End game is just do the same boring shit everyday for every character until the end of time
I'm planning on playing Dofus again in the server mono account. Do you think it's worth it?
ESO, we got a community event where we had to work together so we would get free stuff.
Pantheon is going to make the same mistakes Everquest did 20 years ago and everyone is going to drop it within 3 months when they realize that they thought they wanted it, but they didn't.
Mobile will save MMOs. There is no rebuttal to this, it's the truth.
hope you're french fluent
had to give up the game after a while because of it
I want to fuck your toon
Imagine still playing this chink ridden shithole in 2019. That game is even struggling to stay relevant in Korea these days. It's no wonder they're trying to desperately work on a sequel.
Fuck. Nobody talks english there? I really wanted to play it
>gw2
>worth anything
abandoned dungeons
abandoned old maps
abandoned dragon stand
abandoned pvp
abandoned wvw
abandoned fractals
wow what a worthwile game
it's beyond broken, runs like shit thanks to ue3, has chunks of maps that load in while you traverse them, combat could be interesting if it wasn't this broken
project gorgon, but it has nintendo 64 graphics and hunger system
this guy is right
if convenience was prioritized every game would be you noclipping to the final boss and finishing it, which is why breath of the wild sucks dick
struggle is good
struggle is meaningful
limitations create strategy
strategy creates gameplay
gameplay makes fun
It's almost as if revenue =/= popularity especially when you have China accounting for over 60% of the game's total income these days. Pretty easy too when you have people with gambling addiction there spending almost 10k a month because of how they price their packages.
Money is money and we both know that's all they care about.
They had a panel at PAX South about how they were going to somehow avoid the massive Korean P2W while streamlining all the patches from the original KR devs.
I could tell the game setting/etc. wasn't for me, I'm only looking forward to seeing how well that "No P2W, honest!" stuff works out.
Can somebody give me a quick rundown on what is fun to mmo fangays about WoW or FF14's combat? Aren't the skills just tedious busywork? Is there any real strategy beyond slowly pressing a sequence of skills because it's the optimal damage this patch? Is this supposed to make you feel engaged because you had to look up a guide to be optimal? Like as an outsider all I see are nerds spewing acronyms and names at each other pretending that there's any real depth to what's being discussed. I don't get it I'm probably wrong it just makes little sense to me.
>I'm only looking forward to seeing how well that "No P2W, honest!" stuff works out.
We all know this is bullshit already. When the game starts to slightly go downhill they always pull the P2W card. This is almost every Korean game in the west ever.
I know, that's why popcorn.gif
Second Life or FFXIV
That no p2w might be true. Even bless online didn't go p2w, everything else about it was just trash
go try Forsaken World meng, it's good
Here's something to help you.
Stop thinking whether you like a game's combat whether its deep or not. Like a game's combat because its fun. There's a bunch of faggots in mmorpgs who think they're having fun because they're running the best theorycrafting build there is, and have the most buttons to spam, regardless of whether they're succeeding at the actual content or not. They're the worse to deal with because they can't comprehend it when they're bad players at the core and refuse to improve because they think it isn't them.
XIV off and on, and thats really it for actual MMO's. I have more fun playing fake-MMO's these days then actual ones. FFXIV is a slog because I'm still going through Stormblood content, and its just boring.
All these Unreal Engine MMOs made by gooks look the fucking same.
Ok thanks that helps since I seemed to mostly get the impression that the depth of skills was the draw.
I'm still waiting for the archery revamp.
i like the aesthetic
wat game?
That is a reason I might go back to TESO after I stopped almost a year after its release.
Did they fuck the necro up or is it an actual necro?
Honestly the issue is no one is making original MMO's anymore. They all are either wow clones, or Korean MMO's that all sort of blend together, not to mention they all have meme "GOOD ACTION COMBAT" that is really just sort of mediocre and just super flashy looking, and then they don't even properly use said combat and basically just let you burn throw mobs in seconds.
Don't forget when mmos try to force pvp and "factions" for the sake of it. The actual pvp communities in mmos are so tiny, the people who actually cared for it moved onto other genres. Just do pve so the stacies, erpers, and neckbeards can just live in harmony.
>Hey guys heres the mmorpg we're wor-
>WHERES THE PVP
>We don't think that's a val---
>WTF WHERES THE PVP. NO RNG NO SKILL REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>BR/Ruskie: Wtf why is this p2p? don u care about custom?
>make sexy elf slut archer
>spend hours grinding for sexy golden bikini costume
>every fag in the game is already using it
this is why don't play these shitty games
the only good thing about ff14 is heavensward but to get there you have to slog through ARR
with that said heavensward is probably the greatest final fantasy since 9
