OH NO NO NO
Don't really care
what the fuck is Nexon
I wish comcast would die.
>comcast trying to get into video games
Hope EA gets it and runs it into the ground as usual.
Nexon and EA would be a match made in heaven.
gook jews that make maplestory
probably took more money from me than regular jews
>vindictus was easily one of the best games made in source
>nexon drops the ball so fucking hard bringing it over to the west
????
how is nexon not bankrupt btw?
vindictus was amazing for it's time [2007] and they turned it into easily the most unfun game ever
also they had this fun mario kart clone that they stopped supporting
Gooks' EA
Nexon made DFO, Maplestory, Mabinogi, Vindictus, Dragon Nest
DFO has made a total revenue of $13 billion over its lifetime (more than WoW)
Maplestory is at $5 billion
Comcast is the only company I know that is so hated that they hide all mention of the company name in their products.
They completely removed any mention of "comcast" from their Internet products. You will only see "xfinity". It's effective, many people don't even know xfinity is comcast.
>comcast
>sues anyone who tries to improve it
>EA
>basically the same except will remove the big tiddy lolis
>amazon
>will make a first person AAAA version
very hard choice here m8s
Supposedly Dungeon Fighter Online was the top grossing PC game last month. Fuck if I know how.
It's the biggest money maker in the PC MMOs market in Korea still.
Neople being a subsidiary allows Nexon to stay afloat right now.
Technically Neople made it, Nexon is the EA of Korea essentially.
Maplestory is bigger than DFO in korea.
DFO is enormous in china though, #1 game for months and months.
>jews buy other jews
What the fuck is happening.
Happens all the fucking time user.
You're correct.
gamemeca.com
I check this weekly, it's interesting seeing Korea's online gaming habits since it's the only major video game market where PC is the majority, and overwhelmingly so (and where MMO gaming isn't a niche anymore).
Lost Ark has been in the top 3 for 4 months now, they love it so hopefully that means it's good. I really want it to succeed, it's one of the last hopes for MMOs.
I'd rather Amazon buy it
>it's popular therefore it is good
Hilarious.
Honestly, the worst I could imagine Amazon doing is shilling Prime in their newly-owned games.
I remember years ago thinking that there was no way Nexon could keep getting worse, but here we are.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NON ON ONONONOONO. I DONT EVEN PLAY NEXON GAMES BUT WE DO NOT NEED THESE CONTROL FREAK LEFT WING PROPAGANDA PUSHING KEKHOLDS SUBJECTING US TO LEFT-WING MMORPGS.
>that one great looking game about mechs with amazing physics and very interesting multi
>cut down by nexon
Serves them right
>you're correct
I play korean games, It's what I do. maplestory and dnf both. I study these markets pretty intensely as I'm also a shareholder in nexon. A very very small stake, but a stake all the same.
Lost Ark is pretty good, but I just don't care for isometric arpgs, I played so many days of d2 back in the day that I can't enjoy them anymore, but it's really well crafted. If/when they finally push out a global version (or remove the IP block to allow more foreigners to play) I expect it'll probably take off pretty good. It scratches an itch that I had that PoE didn't, but still not quite enough to hook me.
Just in case you're curious, it's kart rider's major tournament (compare to worlds in league, or overwatch league finals, capcom cup, evo etc etc) and they even have some chinese dudes there, which is why kartrider jumped from like 8 to 4 over the last few weeks. It's 15th anni is also this june, so that ought to see it staying up there for a while.
Lots of good games coming out recently, nexon has realized that catering to their existing games as opposed to trying new ones all the time is usually a better option. Astellia is already dead, ascendant one's betas have been really bad. meanwhile, maplestory, dnf, cyphers, kartrider all break records every quarter.
new MMOs usually stay popular for a month then drop hard
only good MMOs remain popular for longer than that. same in Korea and same in the West
the last MMO to do this in the West was FFXIV:ARR and before that was WoW. Only 2 MMOs in the last 15 years in the West have not seen a major drop off in popularity after a month
>no more art like in Blade & Soul
>everything will be mutt tranny mutants like Apex Legends
God help us
i thought nexon couldn't get any worse, imagine the unholy union of ea/nexon.
>nexon
>owned by EA
Jesus fucking Christ, literally satanic levels of awful.
You're thinking of Project Steel, which was NCsoft, not nexon. NCsoft also revealed privately (according to rumors admittedly) that the entire trailer for project steel was scripted and prerendered, and used entirely to drum up interest in other ncsoft upcoming titles (chiefly blade and soul at the time)
ncsoft also killed exteel.
they didnt make those games. they're essentially like EA
Yes they did
>subsidiaries don't count
based vindictus poster
I never got terribly far into it but I fondly remember learning how to solo the giant spider boss with my Lann years ago; to this day its still some of the most fun i've had in an instanced mmo.
youtube.com
(not my video)
>MS2 without oppai loli
What a nightmare!
They didn't make maplestory, that was wizet, nexon just bankrolled it's server costs and early marketing. they bought wizet proper a year after it entered beta status.
DnF was made by neople, who was owned by Hangame/NHN up until some point in the late 2000s when nexon purchased them outright from hangame and took over day to day operation, but they had 0 hand in creating the game.
Mabinogi was devcat which is an internal dev studio, so yes nexon made it.
Vindictus, again, devcat.
Dragon nest was completed and nexon just won licensing rights to host servers in korea, then america. But they sold them off.
For once I fucking hope EA gets them. They deserve each other.
The singleplayer part had to be scripted, that i knew from the start.
But that multiplayer part had all the assets and even as a mockup, it was impressive.
As long as you try to achieve what you set up as goal, it's fine.
What is not fine is throwing a piece of bait and then drown it all in more water.
Mechwarrior Online can live on only because nobody tries to actually remove it.
if you liked vindictus because of the combat then check out Black Desert or Revelation online, they're both kind of like Vindictus 2.0
The ball of combined greed and disdain will end us all.
Never played vindictus but gameplay-wise this looks like a more casual friendly version of dark souls but as an mmo. How correct is that assumption?
that's literally the only reason anyone plays it
Fuck off, you have no chance, poor fags.
maybe like 10%
>they're both kind of like Vindictus 2.0
Not at all. More like Vin 0.5
you can't possibly think vindictus has better combat than either of those
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but Nexon NA didn't do a terrible job with bringing over Vindictus.
They had that token garbage for about 9 months and then got rid of it. Soon after they implemented permanent character cosmetics like hair and inner armors. That definitely should have been done on launch, but at least they made the effort.
What killed the game was Season 2, brought in by a new director.
>game is about grinding bosses to farm materials to make new gear
>starts shifting to doing daily raid breakoffs to help finance your new gear
>now requires you to win the lottery 5 times just to craft one weapon (but good fucking luck doing those bosses unless you're a goldbuyer or nolife)
Also, I'm pretty sure Vindictus started in Korea in 2009, not 2007.
I watched the gameplay trailer for BDO the day it came out. Within one second of combat shown, I could already tell it was garbage.
I'm still waiting for the day a new MMO comes out that can surpass the combat that's in Vindictus. It's coming up on 10 years now that nothing's been able to even match it.
kartrider is super popular everywhere but america, because americans didn't see enough reason to buy things because americans want to spend money on power, not cosmetics. there's a good reason why games get tons of p2w garbage when they got brought stateside.
I really liked vindictus because it was more PvE boss focused and reminded me of my monster hunter at the time, idk about Revelation but I know BDO is more PvP focused so I have little interest in it personally.
>western company buying out asian company
isn't it usually the opposite?
vindictus was always bad because it had gender locked classes
in fact the vast majority of korean mmos are bad because of this.
I think the day comcast gets into videogames is the day united states die
I'd hate to say it but that might actually be a good thing. Comcast has been shown time and time again to purposely slow down connections for video games to try and get money out of them but if they own it presumably they have no reason to do that any more, and on the contrary they might actually provide faster than usual speeds for it.
or, they might slow down speed for all videogames except their own
