>the current climate
what do you mean by this? wait, nevermind, I don't want to know. if you're a whiny bitch the answer is definitely "huge"

Have you not been following what's been going on? There may not even be a comments section or like dislike option by this time next year.

good

It's never been a good idea to start a youtube channel

>2019
>starting a youtube channel
*sips*

>even be a comments section
Honestly that's a good thing

Just a waste of time unless you're already a celebrity. Jables, for example; over night success. Anyone else is pushing shit up hill. Huge amount of time investment for years and years of absolutely fuckall and ever increasing restrictions.

Given the fact youtube gives zero fucks about you if you are not a massive channel its a pointless idea. Its not a mistake because of anything but the fact you can't make money as a small or medium sized youtube channel anymore

What is it you want to accomplish?

Define "celebrity". Is that 100,000 subs? When do people even start up patreons? They sure as he'll aren't giving people money for videos anymore, thats for sure.

nice, please make this happen.

Remember the old times where most of the good YouTubers where making videos just for fun?

Now in the current times it's just "hey dude give me money on patreon or your opinion doesn't count"

Attached: 71e.jpg (396x385, 17K)

It's worth a shot, you can make some money from patreon cucks

>check out a Daggerfall let's play after being overwhelmed by the character creation
>some guy has daily videos for a year and a half
>No views No views No views 1 view No views No views 2 views
yeah no idea how people put up with this, my confidence would be shattered after the first non viewed video

Attached: 1550632359480.png (564x542, 108K)

>can't afford a dollar a month
No, that's why your opinion doesn't count

Fuck the comment sections tho

Monetization was a mistake

Depends on the YouTubers, most of them get like 70$ before making a 7-15 minutes video

>he gives money away
Retard, never gonna make it.

>guy makes witty comment
>next 20 people are all variations of the same comment who think they're original
>half of them have dues ex icons
>"oh yeah yeah yeah"

*AHEM* Fuck the Reply Girls

Has anyone from Yea Forums gotten famous on youtube, or is mentioning you post here a death sentence?

Demo. At least it seems like he used to, I can't imagine him sticking around this place past 2014 or so. Wish I could let go like he did.

These.

Went from humble video making just for fun so you could share it with the world to soulless copycat greed.
Monetization attracted the worst of the worst and turned the most humble content creators into rich douchebags.
Patreon made it just as worse because now they can squeeze even more out of you by claiming that it helps them sit on their ass in front of their PC all day.
The fact that many of them hide their Patreon earnings just shows how sleazy they are too.
Making $500 - $5000k a month to just read news articles verbatim and overreact to content they didn't create while using some dime a dozen video format.

Fuck what Youtube has become.

Attached: 1546538659484.jpg (922x1004, 138K)

Loads of big youtubers did come here back then. Pewdiepie for one. Notch, some others I cant remember. Trevor from WKUK (celebrity) as well as Andrew WK (musician) used to post on Yea Forums too, and there's always that taylor swift rumor.

I saw this guy leave a comment on one of my videos. Turns out that is his whole gimmick.

Anyway, I made my channel about 2 years ago and I'm approaching 10k. Is it worth doing? Yes if you have a reason other than "make money". Even making some money doing it, the whole experience is really about creating something and having something to show for it. Eventually it can pay off, but not for everyone. It takes luck, planning or being a celebrity to rise.

I post here but I don't announce it on my channel. That defeats the entire point of being anonymous.

>10k
>Famous
Alright man

Attached: 1521754739634.jpg (385x419, 39K)

What's famous then. 50,000?

I'm pretty sure he doesn't shill his content here. He probably just post anonymously. The man could give less than 2 shits about being famous

I'd say not until you get into the hundred thousands. Certainly not 10k.

I didn't claim to be famous, I said I have almost 10k subs. Where at any point did I suggest I'm even remotely "famous"?

imaqtpie met his wife and editor through Yea Forums
youtube.com/user/killertoast949/
Northernlion says he comes here for unfiltered opinions about his show but I dont know if he was here before he 'made it'

>Has anyone from Yea Forums gotten famous on youtube
>I post here but I don't announce it on my channel

>I post here
woah really?

The second half of the sentence in the post I replied to asked if posting on Yea Forums is a death sentence, and I was explaining that I don't personally announce that I do, and my channel is still growing.

If youre doing it thinking youll get work from it, dont. Pretty much everyone who actually made it and makes a living off youtube comfortably says they fell into it, they did not set out to do it it just happened.

even several million subs isnt famous.

>+3000 SUBS OVER THE PAST MONTH
I'm scared you guys. Is that kind of growth sustainable?

Are your views consistently growing with your sub count?
Are you posting at least once every week?
Can I get a link to your channel?

To answer the question, yes it is if you keep producing similar content to the videos that took off. Keep doing those clips of short meme-tier quality stuff then hit hard with your longer videos. You tapped into the algorithm. Don't lose your momentum.

I'm really glad that your channel finally took off. Now reply to my email so we can pick up where we left off.

You first. I'm tired of never seeing any new content from Yea Forums. Its always the same 3 guys.

I dont have one, sorry.

The unsung hero Yea Forums needs, but does not desrve.
youtu.be/84m-XpsLoz4
please sub, thang u.

It's time to start boyo.

>ywn see people pledging to your patreon and begging you to put out more content

Attached: 1550639371290.gif (249x219, 175K)

that motherfucker is a google AI isn't it?

Not into channels that just upload other people's work, dawg. Be original. Even if you are doing something else other people are doing that's ok. Just don't make a channel whose videos are mostly stole content.

>take comments from any subreddit
>read it
>put the same shitty track everyone who does this as the background music
>BECOME A PATREON

But I dont have any original ideas ;_;

youtube.com/c/alsgaming Here's my mediocre review channel. Apologies because I'm not very good at voice over
There's no 'mistake' to making a channel now, the only mistake is to want to make one but keep putting it off for no real reason.

>X but it's Y
>"My stolen meme collection"
Best way to not get me to subscribe to your channel

Vinesauce Joel was a Yea Forumsfag

Subscribed

Shouldn't you be happy about that?

>Dropped out of college
>father breathing down my neck
>gonna try making videos and if in one year I don't see any future I'll kill myself

Attached: Doomer.jpg (1200x1200, 385K)

nobody wants to see your 2 hour review of zelda link to the past

I've got 100,000 views just shitposting about an anime I watched from the 80's. I don't know if it'll last, but I've been doing modestly well just talking about VHS tapes & Laserdiscs. Someone must have posted a video I made on reddit or something, because I woke up one day & suddenly I had a bunch of subscribers. Newest video title & thumbnail were pretty clickbaity, so it might that. I've been very lucky all things considered. Just hit 5000 subs which is scary, but also kind of exciting. Check it out I guess.

I wish you the best of luck in a sea of videos. Hopefully you talk about something unique enough where people like it. God speed.

I know mandalore does.

Subbed. Giving your videos a watch now.

Hey friend. Listen, it's ok to do the channel but as long as you get a career path of some kind your dad will leave you alone.

He makes VERY GOOD videos. That trumps bullshit.

>dream hunter rem
you're alright senpai

Define "define".

I can't wait for the time where Twitch and Youtube loses its popularity and all the streamers and vloggers are fucked because they have no job skills and quit school to become full time video people.

i hate justin y. all that faggot does is post dumb comments and gets a shitload of attention for it

I'm bored. Post more videos. GOOD videos.

the big ones are already millionaries so they will be just fine

i think they're here to stay at this point
not to say they're never going to decline, but more like how theatre gave way to films as the main form of entertainment

youtube.com/watch?v=FTw3YDRMjaA
shamelessly shilling my shit

The big ones, sure. But do you really think titty streamers will still make boatloads of money when they're over 40, or that the people who become fulltime streamers and pull 800 viewers per stream have enough money to retire before it all comes down?

Mandalore and SsethTzeentach

it's only worth doing if you think you'd specifically enjoy it, as it's always been. think about it like this: if you somehow knew for a fact that your channel would NEVER gain traction, save for a small audience, would you still do it? no big numbers, no ad revenue, no sponsorships, just making and uploading videos for a moderately-small-at-best community? if your answer is still yes, then try it, you might have fun. if your answer is no, then it's absolutely not worth the time or effort.

Do Twitch instead and make edited compilations to publish to YouTube.

This guy gets it

Be honest here, how many of you tried making AVGN-like videos?

I make edited videos of me doing mundane shit like cleaning my room/ dishes or fixing my car and delivering the mail. It's also where I vent all my problems and scream at things.

DEMONETIZED

You can tell when he hasnt watched the video because he drops a jojo reference that doesnt even make sense

I banned his ass from my channel.

why would I

Justin seems like a cool guy, even if he has too much time on his hands. What’s he look like irl though?

like this

Attached: 1549819782159.jpg (615x615, 37K)

There have always been people trying to make money from youtube, you are wearing rose tinted glasses. There are still plenty of people making content for their own enjoyment and not making a dime

I started my channel last year.
I've got 15 subs, and like 20+ videos. Only thing I ever got more than 100 views on is dark souls videos.
I wanted to do a lot more with it, but I was making videos I liked, and according to most people who know me I like boring shit.
Just go for it honestly youtube shit is like chinese fireworks.
It might take off it might now. It might be unsurprising or totally rad if it does take off
But in the end the lights go out and everybody forgets about it.

You can, just rely on Patreon instead.

Vinesauce Vinny straight-up advertised his livestream here back in the day.

As other anons have filled out the list, yeah, there are a lot of people who've become well-known that have posted here at some point.

I'm editing a script that I wrote. It's about finishing games that you've started and the inherent problem with having such mass amounts of media at your fingertips. I'm around 600 words in, but all the prose feels like shit so I may have a more structured rewrite. I may also ditch the script and just have a series of points I want to talk about and do it more freeform.
I'm inspired by NakeyJakey's style on the ball and think that my style of humor would benefit from something similar. Mainly just a greenscreen where I can do goofy shit in front of while talking.

I know this is nothing to be trigged over but it does for me. Every fucking comment section feels like the ground zero of the NPC meme.

> >can't afford
since when are you obligated to pay them?

What's with all the JC avatars all of a sudden?

What decent equipment do you need to record stuff

Literally all you need is a cell phone don't fall for some meme bullshit of needing expensive equipment.

Some youtuber told his kid fans to do it and write oh yeah yeah in every comment

>tfw want to do videos but don't do anything unique or interesting in my vidya
sucks, it would just feel nice to create content for a change

idk user, I don't wanna look like some weird hack

And here I thought people were actually starting to like Deus Ex

Attached: anime vodka.jpg (575x446, 74K)

Every time I see that nigger all I can think of is that one image parodying forums and their inside jokes. You know that one, “warm the trowel”? Yeah. Because I just feel like I don’t get why this dude gets so much attention for a mild joke.

Pretty much these two.

I'm not though.
My point is that those people still making content like they used to are no longer front and center.
Hell, the search function on Youtube doesn't even bring up channels and videos such as those anymore, only popular results.

>was
He oozes our topical gestalt.

i wonder who could be behidn this post

Just twitch stream instead, requires less effort.

Who cares what they think? Just enjoy living. Be the star of your own life. It's ok if it isn't perfect. You start small and improve with time.

Great video idea. Don't get mired in the details. Just do what feels right. Experiment. Try out your greenscreen thing with other video ideas first and save your best for when you feel ready.

That is all you need to get started. It doesn't have to be unique. If you yourself are a sincere human being, that's all I'd need to want to watch it. Just be open and honest about your thoughts and feelings on a thing and go for it.

harbleu is a real popular overwatch streamer now, he was on the Yea Forums team during the tribes ascend match against reddit

That actually sounds really interesting

desu getting views is pretty easy if you can make half decent content. I killed my channel because my branding was bad and i always regretted rushing videos. only ever posted three vids.

Attached: Screenshot (298).png (700x65, 8K)

Being a professional victim is actually great money and its not just the SJWs doing it. Theres a channel called the Quartering that triggers SJWs, gets banned on social media for it then proclaims how hes just an innocent boy who dindu nuttin and makes bank in donation from sweaty /pol/bux

Jaime is the faggotiest name ever. cuck beard and everything

who

that dude plays "faggot: the gathering" which is literally the basedest thing on earth

That was fucking garbage, 0/10 apply yourself faggot.

>his first video is a karl stefan stefanson dedication to cash in on his death

if there is anything to hate him is that hes an unironic sleezebag

>sub to youtuber
>top tier content
>get enough fans
>suddenly moves to twitch for easy money
>youtube channel basically becomes twitch highlight repository

WHY DOES IT KEEP HAPPENING

its a fornite youtuber too, so double cancer

Probably a mistake if you just want to rant about niggers which is all i'd really do

You saw their videos, their content, their service.

and I'm not obligated to pay them, otherwise I'd be required to purchase the ability to view the video before watching it

oh fucking god this

i dont know why, but my recommended is now flooded with "low energy youtuber reads reddit posts" and they get millions of views

> being this much of a sheep

So you're just a thief.

I'm not a thief because there are no restrictions to the content. There's nothing preventing me from viewing the content.
Also I'm not taking the content from the owner or the creator.
Kill yourself, you're not getting any more replies for your obvious shitposting

If you block his Google+ page, you'll never see his comments again

jesus christ those channels are such bullshit. theres one australian faggot called gio films or someshit and thats literally all he does. he doesnt even edit it creatively he just speaks in a le funny voice and reads reddit posts.

nah i like insulting him when i see him. im the guy that keeps telling to tear his own dick off, tie it around his neck and hang himself with it lol

i personally just report his comments as unwanted spam

though im beginning to doubt whether it actually does anything or is one of those trick report options and all those are just ignored by the system

the worst thing about the reddit post reading channels, is that im a r*dditor myself and are aware enough of reddit culture that i can tell a lot of those are fake posts upvoted to the top just because they catered to whatever that sub's biases are

some of the are just straight out of r/thathappened in terms of believability

given the amount of times i called people niggers and faggots im pretty certain its about as useful as the thumbdown button ie: it doesnt do shit. just insult him a small kek and move on. or the aforementioned blocking of his google acount is a pretty good idea too

I sometimes wish I got in during the reviewer era, but then I think of how TGWTG and everyone involved ended and it makes me glad I learned a profession.
