Yeah. I remember one where I was playing RE2 with my sister watching me then the zombies started crawling out the TV like the ring, the exact ps1 models. My sister ran out and locked me in the room with them.
anything that involves me playing against other people
>tfw keep getting nightmares about being a shitter no matter what i do because in my dreams the game bends the rules every time
that lion's up to something...
Hmmm......
>For some reason I'm a crate with really cartoonish feet in a maze but it has a jungle theme
>then Crash starts chasing me and destroying all the other crates along the way
I think its also because I watched Nightmare on Elm Street but it was still a spooky dream as a young boy
Advance Wars Dual Strike of all things. I was very sick and played it a lot in bed. As it got worse I had very disturbing fever dreams about it's little soldiers and tanks being all over the place.
Post the irl one
I once played Medieval II: Total War for 50 hours in four days and when I closed my eyes I seriously couldn't stop seeing troop formations and calculating outcomes.
Who the fuck drew this thing anyway?
RAIDEN, TURN OFF THE GAME CONSOLE
>tfw i dont have it
dont open dead inside
This but Xcom
Fucking grids everywhere
the mirror room in SH3 gave me nightmares for a good 3 months when I was a kid
I once had dream where I jumped off the Fortnite battlebus to end myself and I was singing "Country Roads Take Me Home".
FUCK YOU
Yeah only once weirdly enough it was about a bugs life game I played on the n64
Good one.
i told you to not open but you didnt listen
pretty sure it's some Russian mural from a poverty zone
no horror game has, but I used to play this permadeath mmorpg and would have recurring nightmares in this weird half-awake state where i think im playing the game but my controls arent working right or im not paying attention and characters that I've built up for months or years die and it keeps looping in my head and wont let me fully sleep. i fucking hated it
Given
I get dreams where I'm on a sick streak of perfect plays then I just wake up
>the best scary moments in games are not from horror games
>Thief
>S.T.A.L.K.E.R
>VTMB
>STALKER
>not horror
?????
I always this series. Despite all the shit going on it's so placid, aesthetic and serene. Makes me feel like I wish I could just set up a little camp or something (obviously with escape points) in some closet or something and just sit there eating beef jerky and health drink until it's safe to move again.
>S.T.A.L.K.E.R
>horror
It's a FPS shooter that has spooky elements which make it scarier than most ''horror'' games but the same goes for Thief and VTMB. None of those games were designed as horror games and that is why the scary elements are so effective. There is plenty of normalcy to contrast the spooky moments.
>horror is a genre
holy fuck
I had a nightmare about fallout 3 radroaches
Fuck roaches
I'd rather not.
the cerberus were way worse.
also
This is one of the least original opinions on Yea Forums. This is right up there with "majoras mask is the scariest game I've played"
No nightmares but the most recent thing thats scared me in a game was the spiders in metro ex and the end section with the slugs and shit because they made me just sick to my stomache, so fucking gross, and I didn't pick the 2nd pair of nvg's in the dam area either
Killer 7's Heaven smile laughter still haunts me.
Whenever I hear it I get a cold chill run down my neck.
I slept with a blanket over my head for close to 10 years because of the slimers in Duke 3D.
In the old versions you actually couldn't kick them off your face, so if you ran out of ammo they would just kill you and there was nothing you could do about it. Fucking terrifying. Now you just keep the boot held down and you're cool.
Smash TV
I was like, 9. that shit messed up baby-user
So how does this work since I'm seeing the jump scare on mobile?
I'm only giving a (you) because of the TTYD punchline
>My sister ran out and locked me in the room with them.
Did you punch her in the cunt when you wake up?
I've had a great sexual dream with that female wombax from one of the PS2 ratchet and clank games
You only get nightmares depending on which side you sleep
i might be alone in saying this but it had the best soundtrack of the entire SH series
That lion unnerves me. I’m not even sure if the gif works properly on mobile or if nothing actually happens.
yeah probably the most varied one. Used to sleep/fuck to that bonus disc stuck in my CD player with a couple songs removed from the playlist because they have jumps in volumes or stuff after a long period of silence.
i had these strange, depressing dreams for the first week of playing SQUAD. I also had silent nightmares about dwarf fortress for the first few days but i attribute those to the appendicitis that was happening without my knowledge at the time
I had a fever dream in which I was stuck at a mazey Doom level and couldn't get out no matter what. Oddly enough, it was pretty comfy.
Not nightmares, but turning the corner and getting a double barrel to the face scares the fuck out me every time in stalker
Sims of all things gave me nightmares. I once played it the entire day as a kid. And couldn't sleep during the night, because the instant I fell asleep, I would see a house with people in it from top view and everything was happening really fast. I guess it's just Tetris effect.
Who the fuck values an opinion by 'originality'?
The most popular opinions are by definition the least original, is that why your panties are in a wad?
Why don't you just come clean and say you hate things because they are popular?
Which lion is scarier, the one in Stalker or the one in Teletubbies?
I had a nightmare that i had string coming out my back and when i pulled it i had rapidly expanding puss that ripped my back open
I woke up on my right side?
the stalker one is creepy because of location
the teletubby one is creepy because it's poorly made
so teletubbies
Because it's like NPC level comments. They don't even frame it in an original way or give non obvious examples. They're just showing they've made no mental investment in the conversation but want their opinion heard anyways. I'm honestly less offended by people saying stuff like "da spooky mirror room in sh3" because while its trite it's not pretentious and possibly based on first hand experience. Its almost like you hear it as an echo from the hivemind of yesteryear bouncing off reddit and coming back here.
Both have an uncanny appearance, but I think STALKER's wins out due to location and the fact that the eyes move when they shouldn't
Jesus christ. I can't put my finger on exactly what mental disorder you have but you should probably start by pulling your head out of your ass and stop treating every discussion like a dick waving contest.
>people mention the same games because they've all experienced the same thing from it
I understand pattern recognition is difficult for someone with autism, but come on user
I wish you best and seriously hope you broaden your horizons past 2012 Yea Forums top 100 lists.
no, but a film did once (when i was, like, 6-7 years old)
I never stated my opinion, bro.
But that post of yours is another glimpse into what the fuck is going on up in there, if it was really worth knowing.
>the eyes move
Bull shit...
God have mercy on your soul
What game
Shame the full game was garbage with no suspense.
The game
I never got this fear with the lion
This mother fucker is from Shuffle Puck Cafe, a computer game from the 80's. I was terrified of this dude. He has a face on his stomach that growls. I'd wake up in the night and think I saw him peering in my bedroom window.
Doom
STALKER
Same happened to me with the original Diablo. The worst was that weapon swing sound and the sound a zombie makes when you kill it wouldn't stop repeating in my head.
back when the only video game i played was league, i'd have nightmares that consisted of long matches i should've been able to win, but couldn't. i'd wake up stressed and angry every time.
This is literally the first time I’ve seen Shufflepuck Cafe mentioned.
My dad still tells people how my sister adjusted the board to cover the whole space when she was 5 so she couldn’t lose. This was on the old Mac Classic. Goddamn
Shit SLOOOOOOW game
I’m unsure why, but the scariest thing to me when I was 10 or so was the thing in silent hill 2, that reads,”there was a hole here. It’s gone now.” That was the spookiest thing in the entire game to me for no reason. Jeeze, the nightmares I’ve had
When I played Call of Chernobyl for the first time, I had a weirdly sexual/rapey nightmare about a Bloodsucker.
fuck.
not again...
Parasite eve 2, the woman becoming a moster at the beginning of the game. I slept with my parents for a week.
Fuck you. It's been seven years since I lost the Game.
>When the spiders crawl across the screen
I jumped so many fucking times because of that shit
Just use your lighter nigga
>be 9 years old
>watching older brother playing Deju Vu for NES ("point and click" adventure game all in first-person view)
>pretty chill music but getting creepy vibes the whole time
>suddenly enters a room with a dead body slumped over a desk
>intense music starts playing over the still image
>freak the fuck out and run out of the room
>beg my brother to mute the TV
>spend the entire week trying not to thinking about the game afterwards or else I'd get nightmares
youtu.be
I have no idea what the fuck was wrong with me. It's silly looking back on it now but I've never had kind of reaction to a game like that before or since.
The lion looks like it should be on Worker and Parasite
Oh I do but I mean like when they crawl across at like random times when you burn the webs and shit
I thought that only happens if you walk into a web before burning it.
Does tetris count?
Why would you t-think that?
low res graphics can still be fucking terrifying
youtube.com
i dont like this
The Sam and Max yeti scared the shit out of me when I was a kid
He didn't even post the right time.
youtube.com
it's the buildup to it that's the scary part
I used to get nightmares from watching my dad play Tomb Raider games way back when. Underwater sections made me chimp out. Also I vaguely remember some moment in one of the games where Lara walks on a see-through floor and below some kind of monster scurried.
I just realize that the melons looks like a black kid sitting with him from the thumbnail
>those weird sick dreams
I know that feel. I remember having a pounding headache and completing DanganRonpa2 in bed back in 2015. 4 days of me just in bed, playing through DR2's cases with a headache, sore throat, sweaty body and runny nose and then falling asleep and dreaming weird shit about DR as well.
Looking back though, it's an oddly comfy memory. I just spent four days playing vidya in bed and whenever I think back to it, it's a nice feeling.
>playing complete
shiiiiiitteeeeeeerrrrrrr
ReDeads in OoT gave me nightmares, the entire Ikana valley in MM gave me multiple too
I'd either be stuck in Ikana valley or I'd be at home but the outside would be filled with ReDeads as if was some sort of zombie apocalypse. I also remember a nightmare where the white and red hand monster with the massive jaw stalked my house, the one in the well in OoT, forgot what they were called.
Fug
I'm deathly afraid of the deep water. Before this the previous time i got nightmares from a game was probably the zombies from the original Resident Evil 2.
This would be a sick wallpaper
I wonder if he stole those watermelons and is now guilt ridden, forever anticipating his downfall
>reddit letter media
No, though I have had nightmares before.
Some of my dreams have been fucking awesome though. Would have made excellent movies, but damn, only I have watched them.
BLYAT
>be me
>stupid kid
>bright as fuck midday
>"Ima play the Silent Hill demo lmao"
>already shitting my pants
>eventually reach the locker room
>cat_jumpscare.png
>holy shit..... o-ok, guess i'll keep playing
>more noise in-game
>my vision shakes like crazy, jimmies getting rustled
>rush to the console turning it off
I swear i never freaked out this much more in my life, especially from vidya.
I mean, several of them have, but the most recent one was back when FNAF was still relatively small and I remember seeing the animatronics while running through a sewer. Not really a nightmare, more of a "oh hey, there they are, gotta keep going wherever I'm going I guess." But I believe they were still chasing me regardless. I also specifically when I was younger a nightmare of me playing WC3 and playing a custom map that just ended up being a jumpscare.
It's blyad. Only uneducated bydlo types blyat.
Pokemon Platinum when I was in Elementary school. It was damned haunted house, it's theme, Darkrai and the event in that hotel, and a sinister interpretation of Giratina all gave me nightmares when I was young. It's also my favorite pokemon game.
Why don't you like them user?
>playing shadowgate another NES port of a point and click by the same developer
>stumble into a room
>this starts playing
youtu.be
seriously i don't know what it is but this shit just sounds like a panic attack. not really scary but just super intense
does this happen only in eastern europe?
I 'member seeing that cover at the video store.
The Dark Rift from Skies of Arcadia freaks me the fuck out. It genuinely stressed me out just seeing it on the world map. Getting certain discoveries we're stressful since they were near or even in it. Years ago, I'd have on and off nightmares of flying through it on a ghost ship for eternity or getting sucked into it from the outside, it seeming to be so huge that it took up the entirety of my vision.
>bing
Also, Metroids, from Metroid Prime. Seeing them in first person screech and fly at your face to suck your life force out of you was super creepy. And the Phazon Metroids from 3 coming out of walls? Fuck me. I'd have nightmares that Metroids the size of people were chasing me through industrial zones.
All of the classic Resident Evil I played when I was younger would give me nightmares, too. I'd dream that I was stuck in a big city full of zombies at night by myself, but well armed. I just hunkered down and listened to the cacophony of zombie noises, too scared to make a move.
Hate to say it, but RE4 gave me nightmares the first time I played it. Woke up to the sound of a Regenerator breathing right outside my bedroom door. Couldn’t go back to sleep after that.
I played alot of Star Fox 64 when I was a kid and had no idea about the hard route ending. Days before I found it, I had a dream about flying out of a tunnel in an arwing being chased by a giant brain. Felt pretty stressful.
Fuck this. I installed trainer once i met Mr. X.
youtu.be
Shit reminded of that bitch from “The Grudge” too much.
After playing System Shock 2 for like 8 hours straight I had a nightmare that was much like one of the Many sequences with Xerxes talking while the room was spinning
youtube.com
That game burrows into your psyche
OH FOR FUCK SAKE.
I opened this as I was watching a stream. And just as it started, the sound fucked up. Luckily Twitch chat complains about the NASL sound guy, so it was just a hickup, but man I was startled for a few seconds.
I used to play this browser game called Lego Dino attack a lot
I had a nightmare I had to escape a Jurassic Park type Island with dinos all over the place. That shit was horrrifying
I remember vividly being in a helicopter and looking outside the chopper window only to see a huge fucking T-Rex eye staring back at me. It still scares me a little today
It don't even work at all anymore either way.
rework when?
This but not only with TW games, Paradox games also
The bioshock infinite dlc gave me dreams.
Rain world
It was two weeks after I stopped playing it that I dreamt of giant centipedes.
ANYONE ELSE?
Maybe not nightmares, but legit tense as fuck, and so well done, I would happily have played an entire game of this.
also given, not gave, learn2english.
not a game
but forcefully locking the webpage on the jumpscare was a dick move
I found the running level before Hades boss fight in Hercules PSX game creppy when I was a kid.
W-what is this? I'm too much of a pussy to watch
Don't watch it bro for your own good.
>That scream at the end
>Lego Dino Attack
Holy shit, I totally forgot about that. Been a long time since I was a carefree lil kid playing lego games.
>that fucking scream
Not really much of a nightmare, but a fever dream/hallucination. I played Thief a lot at one point as a kid and I came down with a heavy fever, 41C. Not really able to do much at all, I laid in my dark bedroom with the door ajar and my mom had left the light on in the hallway. Now, the dream simply consisted of me seeing someone walk past out in the hallway, and I knew he was looking for me, making loud footsteps and mumbling to himself. 10 year old me could do nothing but desperately hide under my duvet whenever I saw him outside my door. I just remember it being extremely intense and kind of a cool experience afterwards.
>UNI Chem class took a trip to Chernobyl
>MFW the entire time having played Stalker
CHEEKI BREEKI
this happened to me with mirrors edge. i kept getting urges to jump on top of things irl
Only boomers will get this
Ehen i was young i had a nightmare of slenderman staring at me through my window and the sam eshit butt with herobrine another day
do you know how to cook meth?
Quake 2 Spooked me whjen I was little, The suffering also spooked me, AvP marine missions with aliens moving at the speed of light was top eye twitch,
I had a few nightmares about Zelda: Ocarina of Time back in the day.
That kindergarten was my least travelled place in CoP, I hate seeing that lion.
Fuck this motherfucker.
No nightmares, but I remember having dreams of walking in the jungle after playing Vietcong. Great game, rerelease when?
fuuuck is that the one with the creepy FPS indoor sections?
i was terrified of this game as a kid because of those
Yeah, all the time. The latest stopped being about video games halfway through though, and the second half overwrote the first in the impression that it left. I really didn't like having to try and wrangle a snake off my brother while he was inadvertently making it angry in the driver's seat of a moving vehicle and the odd erratic placements of the snakes beforehand didn't help.
I really don't like snakes.
The demo disc of Resi 2 as a kid absolutely ruined my sleep for two weeks. Can't say why but that scene in Kendo's store still makes me feel uneasy
On an only slightly related note though ive had plenty of times where ive played a game so much i dreamed about it
Had this shit but with Pinball FX2
Used to be totally addicted to this game a few years back
The moon from majoras mask was a frequent figure that would pop up in my nightmares. I legit still haven't finished it because I'm such a pussy about it, despite having enjoyed it a lot.
u cheeki git
I don't even see nightmares anymore. Because of years of video game exposure I see "threat scenarios", if that's the right word for it.
I find myself in threatening or catastrophic situations in my dreams and work on different tactics to overcome them. There is no terror, just determination.
I... I think games might have finally broken me, Yea Forums.
Source?
Lombax, and I'm jealous.
I don't know why but I can't look at these more than a second
no because I'm not a faggot bitch
Metro 2033. I played it when it was very cold outside and I didn't wear any clothes to add to the immersion, I played it for so long I had nightmares
Do Dark Deception and Duck Season count?
The music got to me
Tetris for me
I will always remember the =tue at the end of the link. Fuck that site.
This thing, man. I swear I once dreamt that its ghost was coming for me at home in the middle of the night.
>.gif
Not this time!
I wasn't very impressible kid, but first location in Sanitarium was so fucking creepy and unsettling to me that I legit had couple of really bad dreams about it.
I definitely can’t be the only one that was terrified by clanker at a young age
haha le children show scary meme
bump
>playing serious sam
>stuck on part with a bunch of headless suicide bombers
>hours after I stopped playing, I could still hear a faint "aaaaaaaaaaa" as if there was a distant one in-game
bastards
The electric fish in serious Sam creeped me out the most in that game
for some reason I saw "peeing" instead of "peering" so this is for you
fuck those things too. it was those and the dark sections that freaked me out the most, bonus points for kleers in the dark
They always had kleers behind walls. I was at a point where if it was an indoors level I’d always slightly look past a wall to see if a shitter kleer was hiding
Runescape was good at being creepy. Not outright scary, but atmospherically creepy
doom 3
how do we fix the horror genre?
Combine that with the weird prophecy engravings
what game?
i was scared as hell of this whole location when i was a kid, especially of That One Part
hes a cutie
Mata Nui Online Game, a Bionicle point-and-click adventure from 2001. Quite easy and short, but very atmospheric
I distinctively remember waking up with nightmares after playing Max Payne for the first time.
Shit was too intense for me as a kid, and I've been playing it too much
When I was a wee little lad I saw my uncle playing on his PS1 Medievil or Medievil 2 and it scared me shitless. I specially remember a loading screen with some fat pale wide-eyed zombie-looking people.
Years later I bought the Medievil PSP remake to relive those days. It sucked ass so much that it was the last physical game I ever bought and inspired me to hack my PSP and start pirating shit on it.
>the exact ps1 models
I used to have terrifying nightmares about those cornering me in my house and eating me like the guy in the gun shop in RE2
I was also frozen in place unable to run away
god i remember i almost shit my pants when i stumbled upon this ingame
I kept hearing spider noises after playing minecraft for days.
Let me guess, this was the only seamonster in the game?
Yes.
final boss of twisted metal 2 as a 7 year old, that's about it
it was normal to be terrified of clowns back then
non boomer here, this shit terrified me as a kid
Diluvion
That one Scooby-Doo flash game
wowee.
Yes, I had a nightmare that I was being turned into a winter lantern from Bloodborne after I beat it.
I haven't had an nightmare in 15 years. So no.
you will tonight
see you there
bump
;)
This quest was so fucked up holy shit. It was one of my first quests I did when I joined membership for the first time
I once had a nightmare/panic attack and all I could think about was Age of Empires and the AI continuously trying to attack me
