I just finished primerose and Olberics endings.

I liked Primroses story, but the ending just had 0 feels for me. It just felt like the ending was rushed and terrible resolution.

Olberics actually felt like him finding what his cause is.
Great game play though!

How do I deal with enemy & boss HP bloat?

Primrose’s story must have gotten a serious rewrite along the way because you don’t just drop someone that important to her life only immediately before finding Simeon.
That chapter 3 is also the literal only chapter in the game without a use of a path action too

Do you not know about Surpassing Power user?
9,999 isn’t the damage cap

You abuse the fuck out of the boost and break systems. Passives too. All of your damage dealers should have Surpassing Power minimum.

Seriously passive skills are so busted in this game.
>Saving Grace
>Patience
>Insult to Injury
>Hang Tough
Not to mention the hidden jobs

...

Using a boosted Heal More to fully heal everyone and overheal them by a further 2K HP never stops being hilarious, to be honest.
Some of the skills can combine in ways that are absolutely broken too, while I'm at it. Dancer divine skill + reflective veil = party-wide reflect = dead casters, up to and including two of the four superbosses. Dancer's divine skill plus any single target buff is actually broken as fuck. Not to the same degree as Transfer Rune but it's really good.

shit game

t.dunk*y

Hoping they make a sequel with more character interaction.

Still need to beat chapter 2 with half the cast, then they'd all be on 3.

bump

Primrose's story devolves into a bad shoujo manga when I was hoping for Kill Bill. Olberic's story is really basic but has solid execution.

Yeah, I still kind of like Primrose's story just because I like her character and how she's the murderhobo of the party, but Olberic's might be my favorite. DRAW YOUR SWORD, ERHARDT made me feel things.

Why do Primrose and Cyrus have mustaches?

Completed everyone's stories, now working on the extra stuff
I loved this game

I firmly believe anyone who lavishes praise on this games writing has never read a decent book.

>dude FEELS when olberic fight the ladyman XDDD
>ughh cant belive doctr die i cri

Ugh, I still need to beat the final boss. What a massive difficulty spike.

Just because something isn't high literature doesn't mean its not enjoyable

What did you guys think of Alfyn's final chapter?

Attached: Ogre Eagle.gif (346x254, 81K)

Not one of the better ones.

Tressa, Ophelia, Hannit, Cyrus are all better.

>Tressa's chapter 4
>good
That's like the arguable worst one. That or Primrose's
The other 3 are great though

IN VICTORY, TRUTH!

The Peacock STRUT!

I'm actually trying to get dancer's skill to use on Ophelia's chapter 3 bosses. I was going to just buy a bunch of magic resist gear but after remembering I have it, decided it'd be easier just to reflect everything.

NobleCHADs report in. If your team's path action has a chance of failing, please leave this thread.

Tressa's down right adorableness is what carries her story for me. To be fair, it itself isn't that compelling. But god damn if this wholesome 18 year old doesn't make me smile with every line.

Attached: 23a.jpg (643x1024, 55K)

No way she's 18, she seems to have the mindset of someone far younger. But I agree, the way she says "Thank you!" when using collect reminds me of a girl scout taking your money after buying cookies.

Her chapters 1-3 were quite good but her chapter 4 was a total clusterfuck.
>introduce antagonist
>say her journal has importance to 2 other antagonists
>only fights with one of them
>also introduce girl Tressa is supposed to care about
>No Captain Leon

She's canonically 18. It's probably because she's really sheltered. I've known some girls like that, they act at least five years younger than they actually are. But Tressa does actually mature by a fair amount at the end of her story. But how can you not smile at
>Green pea? You're just a mean pea!

It's all about life experiences.
Fucking Cyrus is a 30 year old Wizard

>UNPARALLED FOCUS
>REPELS THOTS
>IS 30 YEARS OLD
It all makes sense

>Actually user, his class is a scholar, there is no wizard class in the game.

Attached: onthecontrary.jpg (1536x2048, 393K)

>literal thirty year old wizard
>is one of the most lovable characters in the entire game
>has an unparalleled focus
>looks great in all job outfits
>dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and believes it should be shared for all
>slays a fucking demon
I'm glad I chose Cyrus as my starting character.

We've discussed this to death already:
Best chapter 1: Primrose
Best chapter 2: Olberic
Best chapter 3: Alfyn
Best chapter 4: Cyrus because hnnnnnggggg dat final speech

Attached: Yvon.gif (282x274, 71K)

Reminder that Alfyn's chapter 3 boss had barely recovered from life-threatening wounds when you fought him, meaning that he was at a fraction of his true power

Remember Alfyn let the guy literally bleed to death in the forest alone
Don't fuck with this guy

Attached: Miguel.jpg (1280x720, 160K)

Alfyn's was the denoument of his story while a bunch of others had chapter 4 as their climax. A cohesive narrative finish, but ends up paling in comparison to the other climax chapter 4's because of it.

I want to get back into this game but between playing other things and procrastinating I haven't picked it up in over a week. I think part of my doesn't want to blow through it and have the fun be over so soon after it begins, it was shaping up to be an obscenely short JRPG. Even when I play it I tend to do so in short bursts like a chapter or 2 at a time and then break to do something else. Also I'm starting to regret the party I chose and I can't really go back since I'm too far and have to see these 4 through, so that left a bad taste in my mouth because I fucked up the comp too early on.

It sucks too because I feel like the combat is finally starting to really unfold and be less exploitable. The last boss I fought was a real ballscratcher.

Man, the spritework in this game was so great.

Don't forget that he dosed the big pharma bitch with mega nightmare thorn and left her alone in a cave while the guards arrived.

>just recruited the thief
>NPCs approach him
>"sup bro we heard you're robbing a mansion, we're in"
>"lol no I do this alone"
>party approaches him
>"o-oh I guess you can tag along if you want"
With the other characters I can get it. But this makes no sense. Not only are the rest of the party (especialy ophilia??) not thieves that wouldn't realistically help him, but he just told other help to fuck off why is the party allowed to come with him?

>Also I'm starting to regret the party I chose and I can't really go back since I'm too far and have to see these 4 through
It's OCTO-path
Gear and tactics matters more than anything else so just swap out whoever

Yeah there's so good

Attached: Octopath tree.gif (360x306, 120K)

tdlr it's retarded but he's also a tsundere

>doesn't just give her sleeping drugs
>but literal nightmare drugs

Attached: Therion.jpg (1002x1363, 272K)

It's not exactly consistent, yes. They do actually have a few optional conversations about it later on, but it's kinda dumb. The game pretends that every other character doesn't exist for every cutscene. It's easier than having to make 40,320 variations of every single cutscene depending on who you have in your party.

Yeah, Therion's story's start makes much more sense if he's your starting character since you rob the place solo.

You know that you're supposed to get all 8 people, right?

should we tell him about the endgame

>Game has charm and heartfelt little stories that aren't meant to be 2deep4u and aren't trying to compete with Hamlet, Scarlet Letter, 50k leagues
LOL WHY IS THIS GAMES WRITING SO SHIT HAHA LOL ANYONE WHO LIKES IT HASNT READ THE CLASSICS

You're a pretentious nigger, and likely aren't a reader yourself. Suck eggs you fucking faggot.

I think he means he's only been steadily using the same four after he recruited all eight, so now he's in a situation where he has four over leveled characters and four very underleveled characters, which is hard to fix since the game scales with you.

Yeah I could but my main 4 I am working on first are almost level 40 and the other 4 are around 8-12 it would take forever to get them caught up and I don't like staggering that way.

Yeah, I have them all. But because my main character is permanently locked to the party until I beat his story I can't swap people around and progress all 8 'equally' because then I'd end up with MC at level 50+, others between 30-40, and then some poor bastards below 20 probably. Some user in a previous octo thread suggested doing 2 runs of 4 so that they all are pretty equal in level across both and that sounded cool. The problem is I was a dumbass (or didn't know any better) so my path options are ruined and I don't even have one and have 2 of another. So I can't do half the quests I'm finding at all.

Not really, just pop one underleveled character in and do a bit of grinding then swap out and repeat, you catch up on levels ludicrously quickly. Probably take under an hour.

How does stat growth work? Do classes affect it?

I mean you could technically do the next batch of the 4 of them with all of them together slightly underlevled but with really good gear.
Also you can swap people in and out of your party on the fly once you recruit them.

Attached: Octopath Wallpaper.jpg (6302x4052, 3.73M)

This game handles jobs pretty oddly compared to other games and honestly individual stat growth doesn't matter much. Shit like which top tier gear you pick can make Therion a better sorcerer than Cyrus if you wanted.
The game more focuses on you using skills/better job synergy and getting better gear more than raw level ups.

>just finished ophilia's chapter 2
what a fucking awful chapter, it felt like a filler episode from an anime

Are these nut items that consume to increase stats rare to come by and something to use wisely? I've got a bunch sitting in my inventory but I don't want to waste them on the wrong people if they are valuable.

Not particularly. I just had them stashed up in my inventory for endgame so dump them on whoever

Yup. Probably the most boring chapter. Go to Olberic's chapter 2 for a pallet cleanser.

I've heard that the stat-boosting items work on percentages so it's best to save till late-game.
Dunno if it's actually true though.

>maybe the real treasure was the friends we made along the way
>and you can buy that for 1million leaves

A quick google search lead me to this

To think I was just saying to myself the game was too easy

Is there any counterplay or way to deal with getting blown out of combat for a few turns?

Attached: 151220473335.jpg (487x487, 47K)

The one thing I was disappointed in was that we never got high quality sprites of the main cast. Olberic and Primrose in the style of the bosses would've been amazing.

Attached: 1534917452030.png (1139x1079, 470K)

No, try focusing on breaking ASAP and having 2 healers help

At least we live with the glory that is Erhardt

Attached: Erhardt.gif (258x248, 70K)

I think Primrose's story gets a bad rap because it started out so strong. Olberic is basically MANLY BADASS DOING MANLY BADASS THINGS, and has what feels more of an outright resolution for him, so people look more fondly on him. Primrose's is supposed to be more bittersweet and doesn't outright let you know what life will be like for her from then on.

Basically I think it was one of the better storylines overall. Worst was Tressa.
