Piracy thread

where do you guys go for pirating games? normally I just normally stay on emulating roms or ISOs, not actual games so I don't have many sources.
You can also make this a piracy bait thread, I don't mind

I pirate because I'm cheap and I like having both the money and the game.

BUT MUH HYPOTHETICAL SALES!

I pirate cuz I'm poor
I don't even try to justify it

Attached: dog dog.jpg (960x912, 173K)

People who pirate games do not waste their time buying or playing AAA games.

Yeah and then I can buy other stuff with the money. That's probably, like, good for the economy or something.

I pirate because it's fucking free games.

PSA: Pirates are not customers.

I pirate, because fuck capitalism.

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

Attached: 1550835420315.gif (360x238, 1.43M)

Can pirates just admit they're cheap and want free games instead of trying out for the olympic mental gymnastics? Pirating Hollow Knight and then "exposing" it to your other pirate friends isn't benefitting shit.

I just don't give a fuck
*dabs*

Attached: 1525655190720s.jpg (250x250, 8K)

What if I want free games and I dont try to sugarcoat it

>There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.
what does that even mean

there is no technologically advancements without capitalism homo

Outside of roms I only ever pirated a couple of games on PC. Nowadays I don't even bother. I barely even play vidya anymore, have an xbox hueg backlog and have an outdated PC. But what mostly turns me off is the risk of malware, especially since I turned off windows update a long time ago.

I pirate because it's free. I'd play a lot fewer games if I had to pay for them. But, that's mostly just the couple of hours I drop on some random indie shit out of boredom.

I pirate 'cause it's fucking free games

Attached: lanky-kong-dab.png (690x388, 211K)

I pirate cause I don't give a fuck
Just get it from fitgirl if you're lazy, takes longer but you usually don't have to worry about bitcoin miners and shit.

Attached: 61.png (641x1660, 664K)

Bullshit. Here's my pirated copy of Rimworld that I forgot to delete next to the legit copy that I forgot to install.

Attached: piracy.png (750x369, 180K)

I pirate exactly cause its free. However I did recommend Hollow Knight to 3 of my brothers, who in turn bought it.

*markets

It means that it's almost impossible to buy stuff without someone being exploited along the way, just due to the nature of the capitalist system.

You buy some coffee from some place where they're donating the proceeds to charity, the coffeebeans you're drinking were harvested by people in third world countries being exploited.

You buy a t-shirt with some nice wholesome message on it, the shirt was made by children being paid fuck-all in India. etc.

USSR sending the first living creature, probe, human into space etc. begs to differ.

it was faked but hey i'll let you believe in the USSR you commiecuck

Not a commie by any stretch of the imagination, but didn't America still recognize their achievement of sending the first human into space but then one upped them by sending the first human to the moon?

moon landing is faked

> Bullshit
Only one exception doesn't invalidate general rule.

>It means that it's almost impossible to buy stuff without someone being exploited along the way

The problem with this argument is that the word "exploitation" has a neutral meaning. Getting paid an honest wage for your work is literally "exploitation".

I probably buy 2-3 times more games than most people, but I also pirate.

DEAL. WITH. IT. Screeching anti-piratefags are powerless to stop anyone. Denuvo is a joke and it get BTFO every other week.

Anti-pirates have zero power so all they can do rage impotently on a Mongolian basket weaving forum and pray that "the gubbment" will stop the evil pirates someday.

I buy games that I want to support, and pirate from company's that can get fucked
Bought: metro,resi2
Pirated: far cry new dawn

I’ve reported you to the fbi.

Heh... Should never have confessed that, buddy.

I pirate games because I bought these SNES games but don't want to hook up my SNES

>fitgirl
thanks, this seems fine.
>usually
I'll take your word on that

When the chud brainworms kick in

Don't think 10 cents per day is an honest wage, lol

I don't know, officer.

I pirate because dev don't do demos anymore and if they do it's: 1. preorder only or 2. some lottery bullshit.
Not even poor I just like a little try before you buy.

Attached: 017.gif (153x231, 424K)

i pirate because go fuck yourself i do what i want faggot

I pirate games because i'm poor

i just pirate old shit

was thinking of pirating nier because they rereleased the game a year later without bothering to patch it but i cant even be arsed to give them a download

I pirate old games that I would have had to buy resale to get normally. There's no way in hell I'm enabling some scalping fuck who wants to charge $300 for a cart of earthbound and virtual consoles suck dick.

it's pretty easy to find full romsets and isos so long as you can torrent. I don't even bother pirating new shit since it's trash more often than not.

Why OP's pic isn't like it's taken from some GDC consultoid on piracy. Glow in the dark niggas, I swear.

>virtual consoles suck dick
It’s literally just an emulator tho

I pirate because there aren't any repercussions. I don't use a vpn, I don't use private trackers, I don't try and hide it and in 10 years nothing has happened to me. No letters from my isp, no police breaking down my door, nothing. So why should I stop?

left is justified but retarded for playing shitty AAA games

>Don't think 10 cents per day is an honest wage, lol

Be that as it may, I think it's fair to object to the general framing of the discussion when the matter being discussed is "no ethical consumption under capitalism" on the basis of "exploitation" that can and often is completely fair, reasonable, and voluntarily entered in to.

The only issue with fitgirl is its slow as shit compared to normal installers if you have good download speeds. Upside is small filesizes if you don't.

Attached: 17.png (640x2260, 97K)

I have no idea what OP is trying to say here, all of those words are equally retarded on both sides and there's no relation between the top and bottom texts.

I pirate games because I fucking want to

now shut up fucking spooks

>being unable to comprehend something that I myself understand

Attached: 1401828100719.png (194x198, 79K)

anyone who games on a pc has pirated before
I used to pirate all the time. not so much anymore, unless you're talking about haxxored consoles

>nu/v/ replies to this thread when the filename on OP pic is literally bait.png

Yes, it's copyright infringement. It's something entirely different from theft.

I can confirm that I have the same thing. pirated rimworld and later bought it

based

>fair, reasonable, and voluntarily entered in to.

I don't think "work for a pittance or die on the streets" is a very voluntary situation, to be honest.

Kek, I pirate shit all the time and still have almost 200 games on Steam.

I've gotten letters, but I ignore them and laugh.

how new do you have to be to respond to bike wizard

I pirate because I’m curious in the game.

lol AAA games are the most pirated games

Can we make it a spooky thread?

Attached: loli_stirner.jpg (613x771, 49K)

Why would I pay for something I can get for free? I'm not seeding games so much that actual lawyers come after me so I don't have to worry about the legal implications either. I still buy multiplayer games for obvious reasons

Thankfully the only people who really get triggered by piracy are white people, and they're an endangered species.

Yet it happens in literally every economic system on Earth, including every communist nation.

But selling games relies on copyright which is anticapitalistic.

im low on spooks

Attached: 1535242027171.png (500x572, 287K)

Cursed Stirner.

Attached: a73.jpg (1280x720, 148K)

I pirated Metro, and will do so until it comes to steam

>literally 1 post answering OP question
so this is the power of bait

I'll pirate because I cannot beta test nor rent before buying. Stay seething and cucked corporate bootlickfags ;)

Nope, stay a cuck.

now make another image where theres a panel where the guy selling the bike jacks the price up 100 dollars and the consumer tells them to go fuck themselves and copies the bike as well

I only pirate games that are stupid inaccessible or marked up to fuck, like roms and isos for pre-gen7 consoles. Absolutely no guilt because the original developers won't ever see my money anyway, just some stuffy nintendo/sony shareholders. Fuckem.

I got you famalam.

Attached: GF.jpg (327x280, 27K)

I don't play games, so there's no reason to pirate them.

>implying zero sum game
Wrong

Piracy makes sure that developers don't get too big for their panties. Something you brainless retards on Yea Forums won't do because you rush to throw thousands to a faceless corporation who would murder you for money if it was legal.

How about you deal with it

Attached: 1448739086471.jpg (600x600, 60K)

You fucking nigger. You know what, i'm not inviting you to my ethnostate

Because there are no demo versions of the games anymore. And dont even mention the 2 hour Steam refund shit, thats not the same thing.

I've bought so many good games after pirating them first, some even after completing them, going "yup, it was good, here's my money". Devs producing actually good games dont need to be scared of piracy.

Attached: Desktop 2018-12-11 20-46-17.jpg (378x444, 18K)

>it's not fair so this gives me the right to throw a tantrum and-
stop right there, you entitled little shit
if you want to pirate do it like a man, don't act like a spoiled kid wanting the world to work like you expect then trying to avenge yourself for being disappointed at the first NO someone gives you

I usually pirate games that have antipiracy since they run better that way.
Adding denuvo to a game guarantees that I will not buy it since I have no reason to purchase an inferior product compared to what I can get for free.

what the fuck are you even talking about

When the games industry was filled with passion and talent and not ruled by soulless businessmen, the right side of the image was true.
Nowadays quality of games is so low and anti-consumer practices so high that the left side of the image has become both true and morally correct.

I'm stealing this for the current gf thread.

The only correct justification

I work full time and earn a decent wage
I pirate games because its free. There are too many shit games I've bought that were massive wastes of money but that's not the main reason I pirate. I do it because its easy and I can save money

I meant pirating.

github.com/Igglybuff/awesome-piracy#gaming
check gaming

i pirate and it s ok to pirate.

>intellectual property
>capitalism
you literally don't know what you're talking about

Wherever I can, I've literally never been prosecuted for pirating vidya or anime. I was gonna be sued for pirating music and movies, but I just told them my wifi isn't protected and that I didn't pirate the files and they fucked off.

not a pinko but this is just a free marketer bullshit lie. The greatest scientific advancements of the 20th Century were all done by governments

Depends on what i pirate, for switch /hbg/ has a discord and googledoc that autoupdates with every new release
Where does "I pirate because i can and get away with it easily without any repercussion" stands? i don't see myself in that spectrum.

How am I supposed to afford this sh!t

Why pirate? Are you poor?

Governments ain't spending money in vidya and (((HW))) CGI.

fitgirl or the russky forum if no one reputable has a torrent up

iggames and skidrow's site.

I pirate to try games out. CK2, Darkest Dungeon, Dying Light, AC: Rogue are all games I bought after a few hours of piracy.
Started doing this after Empire: Total War (a game that came out of the box not fit for standard). When devs stop lying about upcoming releases, I'll stop stealing their shit to try it.

That was motivated by war and competition though, the government's involved could have given a less of a shit about civilians and their access to tech. Besides you're missing out on important technological advances that came from the private sector, such as electricity and telephones for one.

Hippie game dev here, if you actually make video games and give much of a shit if people pirate your game, you're a piece of shit. Sure it sucks that you might not make money off that guy but fuck you, obsessing over money is making a video game for all the wrong reasons and turned the industry into the literal pile of shit it is today. If you want to make money off your passion, maybe you should make better things that are worth money to people. If it's not your passion, it's fucking obvious to anyone who actually plays video games, and frankly you don't deserve anyone's money.

thats the whole point, its for people with shit download speeds

I pirate because you can't actually buy games on PC anymore, the only legal option is to pay for a download license which I am not willing to do therefore I pirate.

Attached: Fight the Good Fight.jpg (1182x1202, 213K)

Reminder that pirating is BETTER for developers than buying grey market keys which directly take money from devs

fortressofdoors.com/g2a-piracy-and-the-four-currencies/

I pirate nearly every game.

I either play about one hour of game and then get bored and never touch it.

Or never play it.

Imagine if I actually wasted real money on all those games?

Attached: 31961194_384385202075958_6898437202225659904_n.jpg (960x540, 53K)

100% based.
I'm a physical collector buyfag, but if games went digital only, I'd pirate the shit out of everything.

You did a thread earlier and spamming this won't make people accept your mental gymnastics.
If you want to play a game, but it if you can afford it or pirate it if you can't

I pirate because it's the most profitable outcome

>telling someone to fuck off because they are being a proverbial jew over a shitty product is throwing a tantrum
is this... the power of a good goys brain on estrogen?

I dont pay 60 bucks for a game thats under 20 hours long

Source on this pic?

Found one of these in a bin yesterday. Working, complete, falcon mobo and on dashboard 6717. Any reason to not hack it?

Attached: xb360.jpg (453x677, 26K)

Nope, turn the fan up a bit to prevent RROD and using a HDD reduces chances for RROD as well.

this desu

Attached: based and redpilled.png (700x480, 36K)

How the fuck do you pirate a physical copy?
Isnt that just "stealing"?

The cost of living in those countries is luricrously low though. It makes sense for wages to also be low

not really, just crowd fund to release a game. After you hit the cap, release it for everyone to play free of charge

Russians

i pirate because i can and want to

That's not selling.

Market competition is one form of pushing for technological advance, but not the only one

>steal the game
>copy it
>give the original back to the store owner while you distribute the copy with your friends or whoever
i dunno something like that

>There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.
retard

>what is GoG

thats the point, you don't have to sell games necessarily to make a profit anymore

I was never going to buy it anyways.

get the fuck back to resetnigger you goddamn commie cannibal pedo monster

Nice try JDFI ADL baphomet baal saturn worshippers.

you too

>Pedo
What a meme LOL

It's called burning a disc. People used to do it all the time back in the day before digital distribution really took off.
I don't know what that user has against it because it's the exact same shit as digital piracy but more expensive, but it does exist.
I suppose it used to be more of a problem since people would sell burned copies in parking lots or flea markets, but that's not something people fall for anymore.

Is turning the fans up done from settings in cfw?
I'll be doing as much as i can to keep it working because I know who threw it out and I don't think it has been used much if at all. I dont think it has even had an update because of the build date saying 11/2008.
I've hacked my vita, wii, wiiu, switch but this is my first time looking into 360s.

I pirate things I'm unsure about. If I liked it, I buy it to support the thing I enjoyed. If not, they don't get my money. Is this not everyone does?

Attached: 1548709513676.png (319x320, 144K)

A world without suffering and a natural hierarchy doesn't not exist. Such a world would be an imaginary utopia, completely free of human nature.
Just because a capitalistic society has faults, does not make capitalism the absolute failure that you believe. In practice, it seems to be benefiting many including yourself.
The same cannot be said of many other systems which were tried and catastrophically failed.

Attached: piracy justification tier list.png (500x1200, 146K)

You don't have to justify everything. You can just not care.

1Q2 AWSE W23QWASWWQAS1Q2WEQWERQWERasdfasdfasdfzxcvzxczxcz1q

where is the option of i pirate because the game has been made unavailable in my region, but then after multiple years it is now available at an insane markup of over 280%

Your justified fuck the system fuck shitty companies games are not about fun anymore it's about money. pirate for life.

I work for Comcast xfinity in their call center when people call to cancel their tv services and say they can't justify paying x amount for tv and movies when they can just pirate it. I just tell them fair enough and agree with them.

I believe Gabe got it right when he said piracy is a service problem. I don't pirate games much anymore because 90% of new releases im interested in release on steam where I can just pick them up on sale eventually. I've already pirated metro because I didn't want to use another storefront, and I still pirate all music/movies/television series/anime/manga because there isn't a good service for any of them.

Whatever the fuck I want to try and it's available.
I just make sure to buy the game after if I really enjoyed and I'm ok with the developers.
I pirated and bought afterwards Cuphead, Cave Story, Darkest Dungeon, Dragon Dogma and more just in the last year, however even tho I enjoyed Celeste as a platformer, I deliberately didn't buy it, I'm not supporting mentally ill developers.
This way I can actually decide where I put my money on and actually vote with my wallet, while enjoying everything available.

based

No I didn't. I can afford to pay full price for every game I play, that doesn't mean I am going to pay for a download license.
A website that charges for download licenses. You can't justify paying for a download. I can download any picture in this thread for free, what makes GoG's servers so special that I should give them money?

Brainlets, the picture implies that you shouldn't pirate if a physical copy is offered.
