either they play it safe and stick with contemporary trends, though this'll probably mean they'll rely on contemporary trends and sports titles to carry them. Or they might focus on reinvigorating studios like Bioware and focus on the past in the same way many other studios are doing, appeal to more hardcore audiences and classic rpg design. Sure, but for their stock to shoot up, in order to please investors and shareholders, they need growth and even as they grew exponentially through FIFA's mtx, they have failed to replicate that in their other franchises. As the growth from FIFA stops and their revenue seems to plateau, with minor fluctuation, year in and year out, EA will become a stagnant stock that offers no large profits in the short term. They needed that win with Anthem. Now, they'll just try to milk the next cow.

i'd be curious about player numbers and sales for its competitors since the first demo, warframe, destiny, borderlands, the division. i think this game probably helped other companies way more than EA.

thing is, it has one thing that could make it unkillable eventually: no sequels. if they actually make meaningful updates and upgrade the game like warframe, after a few years it could have an amount of content and quality that would be impossible for a competitor to match out of the gate. destiny was retarded for making a sequel.

baldurs gate 1 & 2 were great, kotor was great, jade empire was great, mass effect 1 was great, origins was great.

I miss the days of Asheron's Call / EverQuest / FFXI where MMOs were about exploration and discovery, where the focus was on team work and class synergy not just "muh purples". WoW's "loot carousel" scheme really fucked the whole genre. I get that normies like it, and there are 10x as many normies as there are old school MMO players, it's just a drag from that point of view.
