redpill me on CoH2, never been an RTS fag and I had this in my steam library for a long ass time, where's the catch? should I play starcraft or some other game before?
Redpill me on CoH2, never been an RTS fag and I had this in my steam library for a long ass time, where's the catch...

you should play CoH1 first
it's better than this one?
bumb, help a faggot yoy faggots
>starcraft
No.
Entirely different gameplay. SC is about resource management and building army composition, then playing the positioning game with enemy and collapsing on them for one decisive engagement.
CoH is about constant engagements with the enemy with much bigger emphasis on micromanagement than army composition or research choices.
It's also much less APM intense and I believe it has not as steep learning curve as SC.
You don't necessary need experience from other RTS's since CoH is quite different from other "classic" games.
Give it a try.
A campaign is there mostly to teach you mechanics and unit interaction, but don't assume it'll prepare you for multiplayer. For that, you'd better play skirmishes with bots.
yes, in every way except SICK PHYSICS. people still play one, get the eastern front mod that adds soviets.
Coh 1 is better in every way.
COH 2 tried to appeal to hardcore competitivefags and ruined everything that was fun about the first.
Don’t listen to the nostalgiafags. CoH1 was great and it’s singleplayer is much better than CoH2’s but there is a reason more people play CoH2’s multiplayer
>a reason more people play CoH2’s multiplayer
because it's newer and dumber, thus has wider mass appeal. and nobody plays coh anyway, kiddo.
The Campaign mode is not historically accurate
To add onto that CoH2 has undergone so many balance changes that much of the original capabilities of units have been changed or removed.
>rip flamethrower penals
CoH1’s multiplayer is pretty retarded user
Original CoH was autistic af, my dude. Some very toxic motherfuckers. The best part was the mods.
It's alright. Incredibly easy to play, but not as versatile as the first one. Also, Relic still updates and "fixes" it to this day. So you might get a balanced experience or a clusterfuck of exploits.
The SP is nothing special, but it does trigger Russian autists by showing them gunning down their own retreating troops and such.
I bought the came cause I loved the first one.
When I saw all the fucking DLC ripping off bullshit I abandoned it on my library, what the fucl
This is my experience with the game
Also thought the command tree was retarded so the 1st is better
>flamethrower penals
>That's a mighty nice MG setup you got there. Would be a shame if someone just drove a dozen penal troops to bbq them while the motherfuckers have insane accuracy with their moist nuggets sniping all your measly Wehrmacht
CoH2 definitely straddles the P2W line but since you get a lot of good commanders for free I grit my teeth and bear it.
Still shitty though.
Once you get into it the Commander system is actually better than the doctrines mechanically
It’s just that you have to either grind or pay retarded prices for commanders and not for the doctrines
I mean that still happens it’s just now it’s engineers in the clown car that slaps your sturmpio’s ass
CoH 1.
>better singleplayer (3 full campaigns, 3 short ones. Levels which are not just asset flips from MP)
>solid multiplayer
>armies are customizable (replacing some units with different ones)
>buy 2 expansions and you have everything.
>has some gimmicky gamemodes nobody really plays but can be fun.
CoH2
>bigger playerbase now
>more, but argubly less impactful commanders
>armies are not customizable. You can only get few extra, commander specyfic units.
>has some very good mechanics (true sight)
>has some shitty mechanics (salvage. Like srsly, anyone uses that?)
> 3/5 armies, 1/2 campaigns and 3/4 mission packs locked behind paywalls.
>not to mention smaller shits like commanders, skins and bulletins that can drop from lootboxes.
>balance issues
>Allies are OP (according to Axis players)
>Axis is OP (according to Allied players)
>devs keep fucking with it
>levels from mission packs have utterly fucked balance.
>better graphics
Tell me what I missed.
Just play CoH 1 and get the blitzkrieg mod
Howitzer from 1 could be used to level the whole fucking map. It was fun as hell.
If you're playing for multiplayer it's fun but matches take forever. If you don't mind being locked in for 40-60 minutes it's good. Also basically the only RTS besides Starcraft with a real population.
I salvage everything, easy way to get a disposable puma before you go to bigger tonks.
I would argue commanders are just as impactful as doctrines and that Allied OP/Axis OP was also a big thing in CoH1 but other than that you’re right.
COH 1 is more charming but in gameplay terms COH 2 is superior. The first game had too many severe nerfs that make factions play nothing like they were designed and so it's really unbalanced.
They are both games and my second favorite WW2 games behind Men of War.
Fuck off with bloatmod
AoE2 HD actually has a pretty big player base too
>Better graphics
Arguable
The models are sure better but CoH 1 looked better imo
No, they're both good, you just wont be able to enjoy CoH 1 once you play 2 as 2 adds many quality of life improvements.
Thanks to the fast kill time i cant play vanilla CoH anymore because its just boring
because you're too shit at it
>Grenades are not fireballs but just rise a dust clout from shrapnel
>tanks don't just explode but can actually get burned or abandoned
>HQ that isn't field tank factory but an actual command post which just calls in units.
Can't agree
WHAT? You can't do the early flamethrower truck of love anymore?
>bullet sponges good
lmao, go play borderlands
You can (and it still kicks ass), but it’s with combat engis now rather than penals
2 of those are not graphics related, try again
>I'm so bad at the game I have to play Men of War lite
You can.
Just use cheaper alternative which can repair itself.
Penals are now anti-everything unit with semi auto rifles to fuck most iny at any range, PTRSs to fuck light vechicles and sticky-satchels to fuck tanks.
>if you enjoy x you are bad
buttmad shitter lmao
The coolest part about COH 2 was when they released the Valkyria Chronicles skins out of nowhere. It was a dream come true, I always wanted a Valkyria RTS and that kind of counts.
Ok, to say it otherwise:
>unit ability visuals look better
>unit death animations look better
>base structures models look better
>Listen to the opinion of a guy whose avatar cosplays as a commissar.
Nah I'm good.
so does this mean the games has no russians playing it, making it a lot better community side?
