I honestly prefer it over the 2019 version. It might be the mix of the OG's music and camera-angles, but the old cop station feels more memorable, more characteristic and striking. The nu-RE2 is also a bit too dark and grey to truly appreciate the details, especially since you no longer can "examine" the environmnents either.

Just finished playing remake1 as Jill. It was more fun than I expected. Is Chris campaign worth playing? Lots of differences?

Original camera angles just allowed you to really take in the environment, you were shown everything there is in each screen where as in Resi 2 (only played demo) you are scanning around all over the place just incase you have missed something.

Yes. It's practically the second half of the game, though in RE1's case the two paths don't cross in a natural manner.
Chris is practically the "Hard mode", as he lacks the Lockpick, and can't do some academic puzzles by himself. He also has bit less inventory space, though he always carries a lighter up in his special slot. He can also tank more damage than Jill.

Also, he teams up with the series' best girl.

No. You can prretty much rip all the files from the CD into the install folder, and then use the 1.04 patched EXE to run the game smoothly.

This was one of the biggest atmosphere / immersion breakers for me personally. The STARS photo in the office is one good example of how removing said function hurts the world and story-building as well, as it's just a small, blurry spec in a corner of a small room now.

Sadly you can skim through without even looking at shit, you can tell they did a great job with the environments but people won't see most of it (the frozen lab for example), with the pre-rendered backgrounds they actually built the scene around the camera angle and it has that old cartoon background movies charm.

Those are the character health values in memory on the PC version of remaster. Enemy damage values were in one of the official guidebooks. I.e. Spider spit does 100 damage.

I played standard all scenarios beforehand so I had an idea of what I was supposed to be doing, but Leon A I got on my first try, Claire A took three because I died to Birkin 1 once, and then my second run I fucked up and got grabbed by a lab Ivy without a defense item.
It's not terribly difficult, with 3 saves it's really just three chunks of gameplay sections to practice.

In RE2 Remake they definitely do. Easy to check as you can just check your time after watching a cut scene, it won't have changed.

according to quick guugling, REmake HD's cutscenes DO count against the in-game timer. Not that a rookie should even worry about such things, especially when the classics also keep count on your ink-ribbon and F-aid spray usage, and in some cases also the collected Notes.

Are the Rocket Launcher and Chaingun worth it? I was thinking about doing S+ runs but I've already unlocked the pistol and SMG and even the pistol was enough to trivialize the game not to mention the SMG.

What I really want though is an unlimited shotty for Leon and an infinite HiPower Revolver for Claire. Why aren't there more interesting infinite weapon options? Doing a flamethrower or Sparkshot run would be interesting but you don't get either until the game is almost over.

The complaints about swearing in RE2 remake are kind of overstated. The characters tend to realistically swear in stressful situations.

Literally the ONE thing that irks me about the Remake is how shitty the mansion looks. In OG RE the mansion is creepy, but also decently maintained as though people could have actually lived or worked there.
REmake's mansion is just a bit too rundown and dirty, as though it's been through years of abandoned neglect when that isn't the case.
REmake's atmosphere is untouchable, however.

i don't get where most people who talk about this game critically keep getting the notion that RE4 dropped Tank Controls when it moved to a third person camera. It has the exact same range of movement that Resident Evil 3 had, right down to the 180 turn. You could just aim now, and could actually manage to lose a good deal of your ammo due to poor aim.

Not him, but I placed my saves before each boss. The run to the K&Q plugs isn't terrible, just bring a couple of defense items. On one run I managed to completely bypass all the G-adults there, so it's not impossible.

I want to ask if I should pick up either weapon part, shotgun's or Matilda's, before moving forward.
I'm pretty used to the Matilda part and the burst fire is pretty handy for bosses and general shooting off legs, while the shotgun gets a range increase and four free shells that will make headshots less risky, but it gets a big damage cut on bosses. Does the barrel increase damage too or is it just reach and capacity? Should I pick neither? The sewers is going to be a pretty demanding area since the King + Queen room asks for four slots if I want the Flamethrower, which is really helpful for G2, but it will take up those slots permanently, as I can't discard weapons.

What are your thoughts? Pick parts? Don't pick them? Forget the flamethrower?
This is going to pretty much be the determinant choice of the playthrough, as whichever I choose will mean a permanent change to my loadout.

Okay, I think I'm going to drop the shotgun barrel in favor of the Matilda's stock. Zombies I'll be able to deal with even if it is riskier, since I already know which spots would need cleaning, and even though I lose four extra shells in capacity I can always use that slot for up to 20 shells while also having the advantage of cleaning that slot at my discretion instead of it being taken up forever. you can play them in pretty much whatever order you wish really. even though the series goes through some big turns you can still play them as their own story. you will miss out on quite a lot of smaller details and references, but that's pretty much it.
I'd recommend all the original games, both remakes, 0, CV, 4, 5, 7, outbreak, and if you like 4 and 5 a lot then 6 and the rev games, but I honestly didn't like them. the outbreak games are great, but you are limited to playing with an extremely small playerbase that likely know the ins and outs of the game or playing it solo with retarded AI. either way, it's a neutered version of what it used to be, but still worth playing.
0 has some really annoying changes, but is still a decent game. just get used to using the characters as a pack mule. drop every item on the train on the ground, and when you move to a new "zone/location" then transfer all items to a relatively central location so you can grab them easily if you need to. also don't forget about the hookshot.

For all the shit RE6 gets, its combat system and controls are really good. It's just not easy to figure out on your own, and there isn't much in the way of a tutorial or communicating to the player exactly what you're capable of.
